Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a crucial role in driving economic growth, particularly in Batam City, which serves as a key trade and industrial hub. Despite their potential, many MSMEs struggle with market expansion due to limited access and knowledge of digital marketing. This study aims to examine empowerment strategies for MSMEs through the digitalization of e-commerce marketing to enhance their competitiveness and economic contribution. The approach includes structured training, mentoring, and technical assistance to help MSMEs leverage e-commerce platforms, social media, and digital marketing techniques effectively. The training is conducted both in-person and online to ensure broad participation and maximize learning outcomes. Through this initiative, MSMEs are equipped with essential digital skills that enable them to reach a wider customer base, streamline operations, and boost revenue. Findings from this study indicate that digitalizing e-commerce marketing significantly enhances MSME visibility, operational efficiency, and financial performance. Key success factors include improving digital literacy among business owners, increasing government support, and fostering collaborations with e-commerce platforms. Addressing these factors ensures that MSMEs can successfully integrate into the digital economy and remain competitive in an increasingly technology-driven market. A sustainable digital transformation strategy is essential, emphasizing continuous digital skill development, access to necessary technological resources, and the establishment of a robust business ecosystem. By adopting e-commerce and digital marketing solutions, MSMEs in Batam City are expected to be more adaptable to market trends, strengthen their business competitiveness, and make a greater contribution to regional economic growth.

Abstract

Waste management has become an increasingly serious environmental issue along with population growth and the intensification of community activities, particularly in developing areas. Low public awareness of sustainable waste management often leads to waste accumulation, which negatively affects environmental quality, public health, and local ecosystem balance. This community service program aimed to improve community understanding and active participation in waste management through the implementation of the waste bank concept and circular economy principles. The activity was conducted in Galang Baru Village, Galang District, Batam City, using a participatory approach that actively involved community members. The program included socialization on the environmental and health impacts of waste, interactive education on the economic value of waste, and technical training on proper sorting of organic and inorganic waste. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge of waste bank operations and the potential of waste as an alternative economic resource. As a tangible outcome, the community successfully initiated the establishment of an independent waste bank and began applying household recycling practices. Although challenges remain, such as changing long-standing habits and limited supporting infrastructure, strong community enthusiasm serves as important social capital. The sustainability of this program is expected to support community economic independence while promoting long-term environmental conservation.

Abstract

This activity is part of a community service program aimed at enhancing the capacity of the Bank Sampah Mandiri MSME in Batam City, particularly in financial reporting and eCommerce-based marketing strategies. The MSME operates in the field of waste management as an effort to reduce environmental impact. However, in practice, the enterprise faces challenges in financial management and effective product marketing. Through this program, a series of training and mentoring sessions were conducted both in-person and online to provide participants with an understanding of how to prepare systematic and structured financial reports. Additionally, the training introduced digital marketing strategies through e-commerce platforms as alternative tools for promotion and sales. The results of the program indicated an improvement in participants' ability to compile financial reports and a greater understanding of the importance of utilizing digital technology to support marketing efforts. The MSME has started implementing e-commerce to expand its market reach and enhance operational efficiency. This program not only had a positive impact on the partnered MSME but also has the potential to serve as a model for other small enterprises facing similar challenges. Furthermore, the activity contributed to strengthening the local community’s capacity in digital technology and entrepreneurship, thereby supporting the development of a sustainable, digitally driven community economy.

Abstract

High-risk work environments require a robust safety system and training tailored to on-site conditions. At PT All Lifting Indonesia in Batam, various workplace hazards were identified as insufficiently managed, including the absence of designated pedestrian pathways, exposed electrical cables, and the use of unprotected equipment. This study aims to enhance workers’ understanding and skills in identifying and managing occupational risks through a contextualized intermediate-level occupational safety and health (OSH) training program based on real case studies. The method employed was a community service-based participatory approach involving direct observation, structured interviews, and on-site training activities. Risk identification was conducted using HIRADC and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) instruments. The results revealed a significant improvement in participant comprehension, with the average pre-test score rising from 56% to 84% in the post-test. Participants also demonstrated the ability to propose relevant risk control measures based on actual field conditions. Training was delivered through a combination of demonstrations, group discussions, and hands-on exercises using hazard identification tools at the worksite. Beyond improving knowledge, the program cultivated collective awareness of the importance of implementing proper safety procedures. The company responded positively and expressed commitment to integrating the training recommendations into internal policies. The findings suggest that OSH training rooted in real-world data and field-based cases is more effective in fostering safety awareness than conventional theoretical approaches, and may serve as a replicable training model for similar industrial sectors.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in the national economy, yet tax literacy among MSMEs remains low. This community service activity aims to improve MSME tax understanding through communicative and hands-on education in Kampung Tua Teluk Mata Ikan, Batam. Implementation methods included observation, preparation of materials based on the latest regulations (PP 55/2022 and PMK 164/2023), interactive outreach, tax reporting simulations, and evaluation through pre- and post-tests. The activity results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of tax obligations. A down-to-earth, non-intimidating approach proved effective in creating a comfortable learning environment. The involvement of lecturers and students as facilitators also strengthened emotional bonds with participants. Challenges such as limited revenue recording were addressed by providing simple tools. This program not only impacted tax literacy but also encouraged changes in attitudes toward voluntary tax compliance. These findings underscore the importance of synergy between universities and the community in building an inclusive and sustainable tax culture.

Abstract

Permasalahan sampah di Kota Batam semakin kompleks seiring pertumbuhan penduduk dan industrialisasi. Jika tidak dikelola dengan baik, peningkatan timbulan sampah dapat memicu pencemaran, gangguan kesehatan, serta penurunan kualitas lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan partisipasi warga Kelurahan Tiban Lama dalam mengelola sampah organik berbasis prinsip 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), sekaligus mengidentifikasi faktor pendukung dan kendala yang dihadapi. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan melibatkan 100 responden yang dipilih melalui stratified random sampling. Analisis regresi linear sederhana menunjukkan bahwa program 3R berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pengurangan volume sampah organik dengan koefisien regresi sebesar 0,532 dan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (< 0,1). Nilai Adjusted R² sebesar 0,288 menandakan bahwa 28,8% variasi penurunan sampah organik dipengaruhi program 3R, sedangkan sisanya dipengaruhi faktor eksternal lain. Indikator tertinggi terdapat pada aspek pengurangan sampah organik (mean = 4,54), yang menegaskan efektivitas program sejak dari sumber. Hasil kegiatan ini menekankan pentingnya kolaborasi antara masyarakat, pemerintah daerah, dan lembaga terkait untuk memperkuat keberlanjutan program. Strategi yang dapat ditempuh meliputi penguatan kapasitas kelembagaan, peningkatan literasi lingkungan, dan pemberian insentif partisipasi warga, sehingga tercipta sistem pengelolaan sampah yang ramah lingkungan, partisipatif, dan berkelanjutan di Kota Batam.

Abstract

Literasi manajemen keuangan merupakan aspek penting dalam keberlangsungan usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah (UMKM). Namun banyak pelaku usaha masih menghadapi kendala, seperti tidak memisahkan uang pribadi dan usaha, dan tidak adanya pencatatan transaksi keluar masuk. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi keuangan pelaku usaha di Desa Seri Kembang III melalui sosialisasi dan pelatihan pencatatan keuangan. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi, survei, pre-test, penyampaian materi sosialisasi, pelatihan pencatatan keuangan, simulasi perhitungan laba-rugi, serta pendampingan langsung dalam pengelolaan uang kas harian. Penggunaan pendekatan partisipatif dalam kegiatan ini dimaksudkan agar pelaku usaha mendapat pengetahuan dan pengalaman dalam literasi keuangan. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar pelaku usaha belum memiliki catatan keuangan, belum memahami pentingnya memisahkan uang usaha dan pribadi, serta belum mengetahui cara membuat laporan keuangan sederhana. Setelah mengikuti kegiatan, hasil post-test memperlihatkan peningkatan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan pengelolaan keuangan, di mana seluruh peserta menyatakan mampu mencatat uang masuk dan keluar, membuat daftar biaya dan keuntungan, serta berkomitmen untuk menerapkan pencatatan keuangan secara rutin. Melalui peningkatan tersebut, kegiatan ini telah memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan literasi manajemen keuangan pelaku usaha sebagai langkah awal dan fondasi penting dalam pengembangan usaha yang stabil, terukur, dan berkelanjutan.
