Abstract

Mental health is a crucial aspect of individual and community well-being, yet it is often overlooked due to low literacy and persistent stigma. A Community Service Program (KKN) program at the Marga Jaya Community Health Center (UPTD), identified three dominant mental health phenomena in the community: anxiety, loneliness, and somatoform complaints. The anxiety and loneliness phenomena were identified through the "Soul Stories" Voice Box program, which serves as a medium for community emotional expression, while the somatoform symptoms emerged from input from community health center staff. This community service activity aims to increase public understanding and awareness of mental health through psychoeducation based on real needs in the field. The method used was a participatory approach through psychoeducation using leaflets and intervention posters, implemented several times a week with different themes. The results of the activity demonstrated community enthusiasm for involvement, particularly in openly expressing feelings and psychological complaints. This program is considered effective as a promotive and preventive effort for mental health in primary health care.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are one of the business units that play an important role in driving economic growth. This is because MSMEs contribute to employment absorption, play a role in income distribution, and serve as a socio-economic platform for the community. The strategic role of MSMEs as a pillar of the people’s economy lies in their great potential to stimulate community economic activities and simultaneously become a primary source of income for most people in improving their welfare. This study aims to examine how MSME capital and business management are carried out, as well as human resource development strategies for MSME actors in Perk. Bukit Lawang Village. The results of this study indicate that MSME actors in Perk. Bukit Lawang manage business capital by implementing capital planning strategies and recording transactions manually. In managing their businesses, MSME actors in Perk. Bukit Lawang apply several strategies, namely product quality, pricing, location, and promotion strategies. Furthermore, the strategies of the local government in developing human resources for MSME actors include mentoring programs, training, business capital assistance, and the provision of work equipment.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder with an increasing prevalence each year, leading to several severe consequences. A crucial aspect of diabetes care is dietary management; however, adherence to a diet often causes stress in patients. Self-management knowledge and competency contribute significantly to a patient's ability to reduce stress and improve the success of a diet regimen. The purpose of this community service is to improve knowledge of diabetes diet, diabetes self-management, and reduce stress levels in type 2 DM patients. The methods used are lectures, discussions, and educational videos. Before and after the community service, questionnaires were administered regarding diabetes diet knowledge, diabetes self-management, and stress levels in following the diet. The results of the community service showed an increase in knowledge of diabetes diet (the average increase in diabetes diet knowledge score was 23.4 + 5.2), diabetes self-management (the average increase in diabetes self-management score was 7.1 + 3.23), and a decrease in stress levels (the average decrease in score was 13.4 + 4.21) in type 2 DM patients. Indirectly, this community service activity will improve the quality of life and well-being of type 2 DM patients at Bhayangkara Mohamad Hasan Hospital, Palembang.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to implement the Fun Learning model based on Participatory Action Research (PAR) to increase children's interest in learning in Ciririp Village, Purwakarta Regency. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with a PAR cycle that includes planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the activity were 14 elementary school-aged children who participated in a non-formal learning program based on educational games, interactive quizzes, and creative activities. The results of the activity showed positive changes in learning interaction patterns, increased courage among children to participate, and the growth of intrinsic motivation during the learning process. Theoretically, these findings are in line with social constructivism, experiential learning, and Self-Determination Theory, which emphasize the importance of direct experience and social interaction in learning. This PAR-based Fun Learning model has the potential to become an alternative to socio-cultural engineering in building a participatory and contextual learning culture in the community.

Abstract

The ability to read Arabic texts is a fundamental skill in Islamic education for school-aged children. However, learning practices that emphasize memorization and oral repetition often result in low independent reading skills. This community service program aims to improve children’s Arabic reading ability in Linggarsari Village through habit-based reading training. The methods included initial observation, guided reading practice focusing on letters and diacritics, gradual reading exercises, and evaluation. The results indicate improvements in reading accuracy, confidence, and reduced reliance on memorization. This program contributes to strengthening Arabic literacy and community-based religious education.

Abstract

This study was conducted to describe community assistance in the implementation of the Disaster-Resilient Village policy in Perk. Bukit Lawang Village. The research method used in this study is descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. The theoretical framework explains that policy implementation is influenced by communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. Data collection techniques include literature studies, observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the Disaster-Resilient Village policy in Perk. Bukit Lawang Village has not been optimal. In the communication dimension, the dissemination of information by the Perk. Bukit Lawang Village Government has been insufficient. There are also shortcomings in the resource dimension, including an inadequate number of human resources and limited budgetary resources, resulting in insufficient facilities and infrastructure. The disposition, or the ability of implementers to respond to problems, has been responsive. Meanwhile, the bureaucratic structure applies Standard Operating Procedures in the implementation of activities.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS remains a significant global and national public health challenge, not only from a clinical perspective but also in its social implications. Persistent stigma toward people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) continues to hinder early detection, treatment adherence, and social integration. Limited public health literacy contributes to misconceptions about HIV transmission and reinforces social discrimination. The Brief Health Promotion leaflet model represents a concise educational approach that delivers contextual and easily understandable health information. This community service initiative aimed to identify the level of knowledge and attitudes toward HIV-related stigma prevention among residents of Tangerang City using a Brief Health Promotion leaflet strategy. The activity was conducted at Benteng Stadium through leaflet distribution combined with brief interpersonal education. The findings indicated that public knowledge was generally high; however, attitudes toward stigma prevention remained at a moderate level. This educational model appears effective as an initial strategy to enhance HIV literacy, yet sustained and comprehensive educational approaches are required to strengthen stigma prevention efforts within the community.

Abstract

Cadassari Village, Purwakarta Regency, has strong religious potential as reflected in the activities of Qur’anic Education Centers (TPQ) and community involvement in children’s religious development. Nevertheless, the quality of Qur’an memorization among elementary school children in this village still faces several challenges, particularly in terms of reading fluency, accuracy of verse sequence, and consistency of murojaah (revision). This condition motivated the implementation of a community service program focusing on strengthening the quality of children’s Qur’an memorization through a participatory approach. The program was carried out by actively involving TPQ teachers, parents, and the village community at every stage of the activities using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. Over a five-week implementation period, the activities began with the classification of children’s memorization levels, followed by regular Qur’an murojaah mentoring conducted every evening after the Maghrib prayer, and concluded with the implementation of the Musabaqah Hifzhil Qur’an (MHQ) as an evaluation medium. The MHQ was conducted through verse continuation and the recitation of a selected surah to comprehensively assess the quality of children’s memorization. The implementation of the program demonstrated positive changes in the children’s ability to maintain their memorization, as indicated by improvements in reading fluency, accuracy in verse continuation, and self-confidence when performing in public. In addition to its impact on the development of children’s memorization, the program also increased parental involvement in murojaah mentoring and strengthened the Qur’anic culture within the Cadassari Village community.
