Abstract

In the era of Industry 4.0, marked by rapid technological advancements, the use of technology in academic disciplines is crucial. A significant aspect of this tech revolution is the rise of web-based preprint services and index databases, offering a direct avenue for researchers to share work without traditional peer review. This study investigates the adoption of preprint-based publication systems in Indonesian research, focusing on SSRN First Look and Google Scholar (GS) from novices researchers’ perspective in 3 based themes e.g., Benefit, Awareness, and Expectation. SSRN First Look has been vital in promoting open science, serving as a repository for diverse scientific documents. It excels in quickly and transparently disseminating research, especially beneficial for novice researchers. The research reveals the impact of SSRN First Look in facilitating the rapid sharing of research globally, including Indonesia. As an emerging force in open science, it has attracted substantial attention, underlining the growing role of preprint servers in modern academia. This survey intentionally invited 77 novice researchers who participated in a publication workshop affiliated with SSRN First Look and GS. The findings emphasize the positive impact of these platforms on the academic community, particularly novice researchers. As we advance further into the digital era, the role of preprint servers in accelerating research dissemination and promoting open scientific communication is indispensable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the fiscal policy implemented by the Bekasi Regency local government. The goal is to improve the financial structure by increasing regional financial capacity, which ultimately creates a positive fiscal gap as an indicator of policy success. This study used a qualitative literature review approach, where data was gathered through observations, literature study, and the examination of various secondary sources. The collected data was then analyzed using a descriptive model, which involves describing the data as it is without any alterations or modifications. The findings revealed that the Bekasi Regency Government has put in place various measures to achieve a positive fiscal gap. These include Extensification, which involves maximizing Regional Original Revenue (PAD), and Intensification, where the Tax Object Sale Value (NJOP) is adjusted to optimize the revenue from Fees for the Acquisition of Rights on Land/Building (BPHTB).

Abstract

This study investigated challenges impeding parental involvement in implementing the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Tanga, Tanzania. Purposive sampling used to recruit six participants in interviews which were conducted in Kiswahili language. The obtained data were translated to English language and were analyzed by using thematic analysis. It was found that, despite of, recent improvements in PI, there have been persistent factors contribute to ineffective PI. The challenges includes; limited parental awareness, conflicting work schedules, economic constraints, perceived incompetence, and negligence. To enhance parental involvement, the study recommends that, with fee-free education initiatives, the government should consider both curricular and extracurricular programs which are the key to effective PI in CBC implementation. Beside, parents and school should consider the presence of dual responsibilities of parents in curriculum implementation.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the history of the development and dynamics of economic thought, especially in the context of Islamic economics. The research was conducted using qualitative, descriptive and historiographic methods. Data were obtained through literature studies sourced from primary sources such as the Quran and Hadith, as well as secondary sources in the form of academic articles and previous research. This research identifies three main approaches that influence the development of Islamic economic thought, namely: (1) the legal approach, where classical scholars focused on legal aspects such as usury, zakat and the banking system; (2) the rational-critical approach where a number of researchers relied directly on the analysis of direct data on economic and social issues; (3) the dominant attitude of Muslim scholars towards Western economic science. The contributions of classical scholars include in-depth studies of fundamental concepts of Islamic economics such as riba, zakat, waqf, and interest-free financial systems. At the same time, modernist scholars criticized classical thinking and offered new explanations for contemporary economic problems. The mainstream approach has enriched empirical and theoretical research on Islamic economics. This study concludes that Islamic economic thought must remain grounded in its primary sources, the Quran and Hadith, while remaining open to new interpretations within the confines of Islamic teachings. Islamic economics is considered a dynamic system that continues to develop and adapt to changes in society, the needs of society, and the challenges of the times. This research is expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of the historical roots, theoretical foundations and prospects of Islamic economics in the future.

Abstract

For many years, the Tebas River has been the lifeblood of the community in Tebas Kuala Village and Tebas Sungai Village, Tebas District, Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. However, as the population increases, industrial areas and technological developments affect the condition of the river water. Currently, the Tebas River water is starting to be polluted by waste from households and small industries with the presence of E. Coli bacteria due to the continued use of plunge toilets, which has the potential to cause diarrhea. This article aims to analyze the role of youth as non-state actors in providing clean water and adequate sanitation in the Tebas River. The method used in this article is descriptive qualitative with data obtained from observation and literature study. The research results found that stakeholder handling is needed through quadruple helix synergy, namely from government, society, industry, and academia. This management synergy also supports the achievement of the 2030 Village SDGs, especially in point 6, namely Clean Water and Sanitation. In conclusion, this initiative discusses protecting the Tebas River for both the present and the future generations.

Abstract

The Fatimid dynasty, known for its remarkable economic development, was one of the most prosperous periods in Islamic history. At its zenith, the dynasty enjoyed immense wealth, resulting in widespread prosperity among its citizens. The state’s revenues were primarily derived from two sources: community contributions and government enterprises. Community revenues included various forms of taxation such as al-iqtha', al-jizya, zakat, excise, al-ahbas, al-mawarits al-hasyriyyah, and al-amwal al-mashadirah. Government enterprises contributed through income from rentals of hotels and shops, as well as profits from trade, industry, and other state-owned economic sectors. The Fatimids invested significantly in diverse economic areas such as agriculture—cultivating wheat, sugarcane, and fruits with an advanced irrigation system; crafts—manufacturing ships, weapons, textiles, and household items; and both domestic and international trade. These economic advancements played a crucial role in maintaining the dynasty’s power for over 250 years (297-567 H / 909-1171 AD). This study provides a comprehensive examination of the Fatimids’ economic policies and strategies, highlighting their contributions to Islamic economic thought and their impact on subsequent developments in the region.
