Abstract

This article analyzes the Fraud Hexagon model as a framework for detecting financial statement fraud across various sectors and geographic contexts using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The model incorporates six elements: pressure, opportunity, rationalization, capability, ego, and collusion. The study reviewed 12 SCOPUS-indexed articles focusing on the banking, manufacturing, SMEs, and infrastructure sectors in national and regional contexts. Financial statement fraud results in the highest financial losses among fraud types. The Fraud Hexagon, an evolution of earlier theories, provides a comprehensive approach to fraud detection. This study aims to evaluate the application of the Fraud Hexagon model across sectors to identify critical factors influencing fraud and offer strategic recommendations for improving internal and external controls. Using the PRISMA framework, the study employs the SLR approach to filter and analyze relevant SCOPUS-indexed literature. The study examined fraud detection through stages of keyword analysis, highlighting pressure and collusion in regulated industries. Corporate governance and audit quality enhance detection, but limitations include a lack of behavioral and sector-specific focus. Future research should integrate behavioral and cultural dynamics with advanced analytics.

Abstract

Code-switching is a common linguistic strategy in bilingual or multilingual communities, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. This study investigates the pedagogical functions of code-switching employed by teachers in EFL classroom interactions at MAN 1 Polewali Mandar. Using a descriptive qualitative methodology, data were collected through classroom observations and semi-structured interviews with an English teacher and two classes. The findings reveal that code-switching serves five key functions: emphasizing important points, clarifying questions, checking vocabulary comprehension, reinforcing requests, and checking understanding. These functions facilitate better communication, foster engagement, and enhance students' learning outcomes. The study highlights the strategic value of code-switching in overcoming linguistic barriers, ensuring inclusivity, and fostering an effective learning environment in multilingual classrooms. Practical implications suggest that teachers should utilize code-switching purposefully to address students' needs while gradually encouraging active use of English.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious disease that remains a global health challenge, including in Indonesia. In the digital era, online journalism plays a crucial role as an educational tool to enhance public knowledge about TB prevention and treatment. This study aims to explore the strategies employed by online media in disseminating information about TB and their impact on public awareness. This research adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing in-depth interviews with healthcare professionals and content analysis of various digital platforms, including news articles, infographics, and educational campaign videos. By analyzing content from various digital platforms and conducting case studies on health education campaigns, this study found that data-driven information dissemination, such as using the latest TB statistics, visual content like infographics that increased public engagement by 25%, and collaborations with healthcare professionals and influencers are effective strategies. The findings reveal a 30% increase in public awareness regarding TB prevention and treatment efforts following digital campaigns. Online media not only serves as an information source but also as a platform that fosters active public participation in TB prevention and treatment efforts. The proposed recommendations include strengthening cross-sector collaborations, such as between media, healthcare professionals, and community organizations, developing interactive multimedia-based content, and enhancing digital literacy through local community training programs. This study is expected to contribute to TB eradication efforts through more effective health education.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of masculinity through the character of Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), focusing on his physical transformation, leadership, and self-sacrifice. Employing Charles Sanders Peirce’s semiotic theory and Janet Saltzman Chafetz’s framework of masculinity, the analysis explores how these theoretical perspectives illuminate the portrayal of masculinity in superhero narratives. The film highlights traditional masculine ideals such as physical strength, leadership, and moral integrity, while also presenting a more nuanced portrayal by integrating emotional vulnerability and intellectual capabilities into Rogers' character. The study suggests that Captain America both reflects historical gender norms and provides space for evolving conceptions of masculinity, offering new possibilities for gender representation in superhero films. This research contributes to understanding how superhero narratives shape societal perceptions of masculinity and challenges hegemonic ideals by depicting a more complex, multifaceted model of male identity.

Abstract

This research examines how Indonesian entrepreneurs use English, focusing on grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. As language plays a key role in communication, non-native speakers often adjust their speech based on their native language. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, analyzing recorded interviews with 10 Indonesian entrepreneurs from diverse business sectors, including retail, services, and small-scale manufacturing. The findings reveal common grammatical errors, such as omitting plural markers (-s/-es), auxiliary verbs, and definite articles, which stem from structural differences between English and Indonesian. Pronunciation challenges include substituting the /v/ sound with /f/ and mispronouncing certain English phonemes. Additionally, vocabulary issues arise from direct translations from Indonesian, resulting in unnatural expressions. Entrepreneurs also engage in code-switching, switching between English and Indonesian to emphasize key ideas, express emotions, and navigate complex conversations. These patterns demonstrate the influence of the Indonesian language on English usage, emphasizing the need for targeted language training in grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. By addressing these challenges, educators and trainers can develop tailored strategies to help Indonesian entrepreneurs improve their English communication skills, enhancing their business interactions and opportunities in global markets.
