Abstract

Abstract: The breadth and richness of the vocabulary in Arabic are one of the specialties of Arabic. The same word can have different meanings. This is also influenced by the context that surrounds it. One of them is the words iḥsān and ḥusnā in the Quran. This study aims to reveal the contextual meaning of the words iḥsān and ḥusnā in the verses of the Quran related to the command to worship parents. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data in the study were obtained through the listening method and note-taking technique. The analysis technique uses descriptive content analysis techniques to understand the meaning behind the words iḥsān and ḥusnā by looking at the context. The results showed that the words iḥsān and ḥusnā juxtaposed with the word الوالدين had different meaning implications when viewed from the context of the verse. In this case, the context that influences the meaning is the linguistic context and the context of the situation, namely what and how the verse was revealed.

Abstract

Kaliwungu is a sub-district in Kendal Regency, Central Java Province. This area has various local wisdom and traditions that have been carried out for generations, including the "weh-wehan" tradition. The weh-wehan ceremony commemorates the maulid of the Prophet Muhammad Saw. as a gratitude for the birth of the role model and messenger of Allah Swt. This paper examines the weh-wehan tradition in Kaliwungu using a living hadith approach and a functional, structural approach. The results show that the "weh-wehan" tradition is an activity of giving food or goods to each other. Weh-wehan comes from the Javanese language, which means giving each other. The weh-wehan ceremony is held every 11th of Rabiul Awal and is carried out by exchanging food or goods. This tradition contains elements of social solidarity full of meaning: sharing enjoyment, fostering mutual respect and affection, strengthening brotherhood, and sharing happiness.

Abstract

Faith has only been interpreted theologically, namely belief in God. Even though only believing in the oneness of the substance, nature, and deeds of God without saying it verbally and without practicing deeds cannot be said to be a person with perfect faith. The research method used is qualitative with literature study techniques by collecting scientifically designed references and references that align with the research objectives. The data analysis used in this research is content analysis. Abstract

Muslims are faced with a time when the West dominates science. Muslims are shackled with the science of turats and irrationality inherent in every Islamic circle. That makes Islamic science stagnate and seem left far behind the Western world. This literature research collects data from various books and media to serve as a study's discussion source. The discussion begins by explaining Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi's concept of thinking about the Islamization of Science, then proceeds with Kuntowijoyo's Concept of Prophetic Social Science and draws a common thread between the two thoughts. The conclusion is that both have the same concentration in addressing the waves of modern science to be given a value following Islam.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the social institutions of the Islamic community during the time of Uthman ibn Affan and Ali ibn Abi Talib. Uthman ibn Affan and Ali ibn Abi Talib were among the closest companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who belonged to the group of Assabiqunal Awwalun. During their leadership, the condition of social institutions within the Islamic community was already in disarray. Institutions themselves are interpreted as formal social behavior systems as well as customs and norms regulating human behavior in society. This article employs historical research methodology with four stages: heuristic, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The data collection technique involves library research on relevant sources. The research findings indicate: (1) in the early days of his rule, Uthman still inherited the state authority that was previously high during Umar's rule. However, due to his advanced age, the management of the state was mostly handled by his closest relatives. However, the allegations of nepotism leveled against him were not proven true; (2) during Ali's leadership, the condition of Islamic community institutions became even more chaotic. Ali inherited a chaotic government from the time of Uthman, leading to unavoidable civil wars during his rule.

Abstract

The All Aceh Ulama Association (PUSA) is where reformist clerics from Aceh gather. PUSA was born based on their concerns about the socio-religious conditions in Aceh, which were trapped in rigid Islamic practices, so there had to be a breakthrough to change the education system in Aceh to make it more advanced. Since the first PUSA congress in 1940, this organization began to serve as a forum for conveying people's aspirations so that PUSA was actively involved in a series of political events in Aceh. The written discussion focuses on the period from 1939, the year of PUSA's formation, until 1962, the end of PUSA's political influence. This research is a social history study, so a socio-political approach is used to analyze the PUSA political movement. Meanwhile, the four method steps in research are heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The research results show that the political action carried out by PUSA aims to fight for Aceh to be free from all forms of colonialism and to implement Islamic Sharia. Some forms of PUSA political movements include holding a congress in Sigli, diplomacy with Japan, carrying out a rebellion against the Dutch, eradicating feudal practices and uleebalang power, and fighting for Aceh's rights in national politics in the DI/TII rebellion.

Abstract

This study examines the value of religious moderation in the Salafi movement on social media in Indonesia. The label of radical movement attached to the Salafi group has been considered a threat to the country's integrity. Their propaganda and schooling, especially on social media, contain some content that will cause social separation. The government mainstreams the campaign for religious moderation to counter radicalism. Hence, several organizations have been dissolved by the government because they are considered dangerous. However, the question is whether all groups linked to Salafi are hazardous and threaten the country's integrity. This article will solve this question using qualitative descriptive research. This research is equipped with a content analysis method. The results found three variants of the Salafi group spread in social media. The three variants are purist, haraki, and jihadist. The three variants have their style, even though purificating Islamic thought is the starting point of their agenda. By referring to the religious moderation indicators by the Ministry of Religious Affairs (nationalism, tolerance, non-violence, and accommodative to local culture), it can be concluded that: First, not all Salafi groups commit acts of violence; Second, not all Salafi groups are anti-nationalism; Third, several Salafi groups have moderate values in their teachings even though they can not be considered as moderate groups.
