Abstract

D.I. Reje Guru is an open system irrigation network located in Bukit District, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh Province. Various problems were identified such as cracked lining and wild vegetation around the network. These issues have impact on water losses along the channels’ conveyances through evaporation, seepage, operational factors and leakage. The input – output discharge measurement is used to determine the water loss and the value of the efficiency of water distribution in the Irrigation network. In addition, the evaporation and seepage loss are also calculated to find out the percentage of the loss from these two factors. The results shown that the maximum and minimum loss is from BS3RG and BS4RG which are 0,027 m3/sec and 0,004 m3/sec, respectively. The values are correlated to the efficiency values which are the highest 84,23% from BS4RG and 36,908% from BS3RG. It is confirmed that the two factors of evaporation and seepage are not the significant factor to the conveyance water loss.

Abstract

Changes in land use cause to reduced water absorption. Aceh Province is one of the areas that does not yet have technical regulations that have been implemented in terms of increasing water infiltration. This is one of the causes of not optimal flood handling. In urban areas, for example in the capital of Aceh Province, namely Banda Aceh, floods still occur frequently when there is high rainfall intensity and long duration of rain. One of the villages that experienced inundation was Gampong Lamteh, Ulee Kareng District, Banda Aceh. One solution to this problem is the construction of environmentally sound drainage in the form of infiltration wells. The existing drainage channels in Gampong Lamteh Banda Aceh are currently only located at a few points to drain excess water into water bodies while the rest are still ground canals. The cause of inundation is due to the unavailability of rainwater infiltration sites. After planning, the infiltration discharge value obtained by the infiltration wells is 0.000006594 m3/second and the total storage volume is 70,650 m3 and the design of the infiltration wells is planned in the form of a circle with a well height of 3 m, radius 0.5 m radius and the planned number of wells is 30 wells.

Abstract

The improvement of urban road infrastructure is a crucial aspect of development, yet it is often accompanied by environmental impacts that need careful consideration. One of the environmental issues that arises is noise pollution, especially in urban areas experiencing high growth in the transportation sector. The research aims to evaluate the relationship between road service levels and noise levels. The analysis of the data reveals that the highest peak hour volume occurs on Mondays from 12:00 to 12:15, with a value of 133.8 vehicles per hour (vph), followed by Sundays from 16:00 to 16:15 with 130.7 vph. The road capacity reaches 1484.05 vph with a Volume-to-Capacity Ratio (DS) of 0.101 (DS < 0.75), indicating good service levels. The free-flow speed of vehicles on Imam Bonjol street is 34.06 km/h. Overall, the road is categorized at service level B. However, the noise level generated by vehicles around this road is quite high, exceeding the established quality standards ranging from 58 to 63 dB. The highest values occur on weekdays, especially during peak hours, indicating that traffic volume and surrounding activities influence noise levels. Noise exceeding the standard limits can have negative impacts on human health and environmental comfort.

Abstract

The Lae Soraya River, which crosses two provinces, namely North Sumatra and Aceh, is utilized as a raw water source by some communities in the Rundeng District, Subulussalam City, for hygiene and sanitation needs directly without treatment and is also used as a raw water source for drinking. Considering this fact, the researcher studied the water pollution index of this river based on the Minister of Health Regulation number 32 of 2017 and Government Regulation number 22 of 2021, class I. The parameters in this study include temperature, odor, color, pH, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Turbidity, and Nitrate. This research aims to provide information on the quality status of the Lae Soraya River so that it can be used for pollution management and control. The method used in this study involves the measurement of the parameters at 7 sampling points through the grab sampling method and the water quality status of the Lae Soraya River is analyzed using the pollution index method (Minister of Environment Decree number 115 of 2003). The results obtained based on the tested parameters are the temperature ranges from 28ºC to 29ºC, the water has a slightly musty odor and a greenish color, pH ranges from 7.8 to 8.4, TDS ranges from 70mg/l to 74mg/l, turbidity ranges from 18.72NTU to 29.17NTU, and Nitrate testing values range from 7.85mg/l to 16.1mg/l. Based on the results, it is found that the Lae Soraya River has a mild pollution status. Considering the testing values and determination of water quality status, the river is not suitable for direct use for hygiene and sanitation needs or as a raw water source for drinking.

Abstract

The research conducted on Jalan Taman Siswa No. 9 aims to determine the coherence between the number of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles and the noise level on the highways around the campus. The data noise collection method uses a Sound Level Meter (SLM) with the HT-80A type and also counts the number of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles passing by using the Traffic Counter application that has been installed in a smartphone. Noise can have an impact on human health, especially hearing problems and also cause inconvenience to both road users and residents in the vicinity. The variables that will be discussed are: volume of vehicles, especially two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, and noise intensity. This data collection is needed to find the noise level and then compared using the standard allowable level, namely using the Decree of the State. Minister for the Environment No: Kepmen-48/MENLH/11/1996 for residential zones. Data analysis uses the Leq formula and then also uses the chi-square method to determine the relationship between the two variables. The total number of vehicles passing on the Taman Siswa road during the measurement was 23,530. In this study, the significance level used was 0.05 with the result that the p value for two-wheeled vehicles was 0.008 and for four-wheeled vehicles was 0.2. By obtaining the results of the calculation of a p value of 0.008, this shows that only two-wheeled vehicles are correlate with noise. whereas for four-wheeled vehicles with a p value of 0.2 does not show any correlation

Abstract

Pollution of dug well water in Gampong Jawa Banda Aceh is caused by an imbalance in the ecosystem of organic and inorganic pollutants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of chitosan biocoagulant as a dug-well water purifier. The stages of this research were making chitosan from shrimp shells, making chitosan biocoagulant with the addition of 1% CH3COOH, and coagulation and flocculation with various biocoagulants (0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.5%) using the jar test method with fast stirring at 150 rpm and slow stirring at 50 rpm. The results of FTIR research on chitosan were characterized by the loss of the C=O group in the deacetylation process to change the acetyl amino group in chitin to amino, with a degree of deacetylation of 93.27%. The optimum performance of biocoagulants at a concentration of 0.5% can reduce pH from 7.1 to 6.9, the turbidity level to 99.99% (NTU), and E. coli to 0 jml/mL. The conclusion from this study is that chitosan biocoagulants are able to reduce turbidity levels (NTU), pH, and Escherichia coli bacteria.
