Abstract

Background: Radiology is one of the most dynamic and essential fields in modern medicine. However, few studies have systematically examined the development trends, terminology, and contributions of Indonesian radiology literature to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study aims to analyze bibliometric trends and the alignment of Indonesian radiology research with the SDGs from 2015 to mid-2025. Method: This study utilized a bibliometric review with assistance by three main tools: Bibliometrix R Package, VOSviewer, and SDGs Mapper. Results: The results reveal fluctuating publication trends and a general decline in annual citation rates. Atom Indonesia emerged as the most prolific source, while the Bali Medical Journal has shown increased contributions in recent years. The most productive author was Oscandar F., followed by Yusra, noted for cross-institutional collaboration. Universitas Indonesia led in publication volume, and the article by Saktiawati et al. (1) received the highest citations. The United Kingdom was the most frequent international collaborator. Key thematic focuses included “tuberculosis,” “diagnostic imaging,” and “thorax radiography,” with emerging topics such as “orthopedics” and “cancer risk.” Notably, 83.2% of SDG-related publications contributed to SDG 3, underscoring the centrality of health issues in national radiology research. Conclusion: In sum, this study offered a comprehensive overview of the Indonesian radiology research landscape and its relevance to sustainable development goals.

Abstract

Background: Stunting remains a significant health concern, both nationally and globally. One of the factors contributing to stunting is early marriage. This not only impacts the physical condition of the mother and child, but also impacts the mother’s mental health, especially in caring for stunted toddlers. Objective: This study aims to explore the subjective experiences of mothers who married at an early age and understand the mental health impacts they experience in caring for stunted children in Tanjung Gunung in 2025. Method: This study employed a qualitative approach using a phenomenological design. The total number of participants was six, consisting of four mothers who were involved in early marriage, one village head, and one head of the community health center (Puskesmas). Results: The results of this study revealed seven main themes that collectively describe the experiences of mothers who entered marriage at an early age. Theme 1: Reasons for early marriage show that such marriages often occur due to accidental circumstances, economic factors, and the influence of love at a young age. Theme 2: changes in roles after marriage highlights the rapid transition young women face as they take on responsibilities as wives and mothers. Theme 3: challenges after marriage, identifies economic hardship as the main difficulty in managing household needs. Theme 4: pressure from psychological and emotional problems, indicates that mothers often experience stress and emotional strain due to limited coping abilities and a lack of support. Theme 5: child development and growth, reveals that children of young mothers are more prone to malnutrition and stunting. Theme 6: social support in dealing with mothers’ mental health emphasizes the crucial role of emotional and family support in maintaining mental well-being. Theme 7: The meaning of early marriage for mothers shows that some mothers feel regret, while others find hope and personal growth from their experience. Overall, these themes illustrate that early marriage presents both social and emotional challenges, affecting the personal, psychological, and family aspects of young mothers’ lives. Conclusion: Early marriage has complex impacts on the lives of young mothers, encompassing psychological, social, and economic aspects. Young women who marry at an early age experience rapid role transitions, emotional pressure, and challenges in meeting family needs while supporting their children’s growth and development. However, some of them can find positive meaning and hope through these experiences. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of psychosocial support, reproductive health education, and economic empowerment for adolescents and young mothers as both preventive and curative measures to minimize the negative effects of early marriage.

Abstract

Background: Nursing is one of the most stressful professions, and nurses need to have a balance between their work and personal lives (work-life balance). Work-life balance plays an important role in preventing burnout and improving the professional performance of nurses. This study aims to determine the relationship between work-life balance and burnout among nurses. Method: This study is a correlational descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used total sampling of 124 nurses. The research instruments were the Work-Life Balance (WLB) Scale questionnaire consisting of 15 questions and the burnout questionnaire using the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) consisting of 22 statements regarding emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low personal achievement. Bivariate analysis used the Spearman rank statistical test. Results: Nurses' work-life balance was mostly in the low category (67.7%). The majority of nurses' burnout was in the moderate category (54%). There was a negative relationship between nurses' work-life balance and burnout; the higher the nurses' work-life balance, the lower their burnout (r=0.448, p value=0.001). Conclusion: The need for hospital management to pay attention to all dimensions of work-life balance and factors that contribute to reducing nurse burnout.

Abstract

Background: Fast-Track Surgery (FTS) aims to optimise surgical recovery through multimodal interventions that reduce physiological stress and improve patient outcomes. However, its effectiveness among diabetic surgical patients remains underexplored, particularly regarding postoperative complications and satisfaction. Method: This quasi-experimental study compared 30 diabetic patients managed under an FTS protocol with 30 patients receiving conventional perioperative care at a tertiary hospital. FTS interventions included carbohydrate loading, early mobilisation, opioid-sparing analgesia, and structured discharge criteria. Outcomes assessed were postoperative complications and patient satisfaction, analysed using Chi-square and Mann–Whitney U tests. Results: The FTS group demonstrated fewer postoperative complications (20.0%) than the conventional group (46.7%, p = 0.015). Wound infection, transient hyperglycaemia, and thromboembolism were the most frequent events. Patient satisfaction was significantly higher in the FTS group (mean score 4.5 ± 0.6) compared to the conventional group (3.8 ± 0.7, p = 0.023). Multivariate analysis indicated FTS independently reduced complication risk (OR = 0.31, 95% CI: 0.10–0.89, p = 0.031). Conclusion: FTS effectively reduces postoperative complications and enhances satisfaction among diabetic patients undergoing elective surgery. Although limited by its non-randomised design and small sample size, this study highlights the potential of structured perioperative care for high-risk metabolic populations.

Abstract

Background: The incidence of disasters has increased every year. However, disaster mitigation policies generally focus on the needs of the general population, while the needs and care of vulnerable groups such as pregnant women are often overlooked. The aim of this literature review is to provide an overview of disaster mitigation for pregnant women in various disaster situations occurring worldwide. Method:This study is a scoping review of journals by examining several types of literature reviews sourced from PubMed, Scopus, SpringerLink, and MDPI using the PRISMA-ScR approach. The literature search was conducted on articles published from 2015 to 2024 based on predetermined inclusion criteria to examine disaster mitigation efforts for pregnant women during natural disasters. A total of 10 articles were reviewed, Results: The findings of this scoping review indicate the need for a policy shift from a generalized disaster management approach toward one that is responsive to the specific needs of pregnant women. Disaster management policies should explicitly integrate maternal health services across all phases of disaster management, including preparedness, emergency response, and recovery. Policies must also ensure the continuity of antenatal care, childbirth services, nutrition, and mental health support for pregnant women, accompanied by strengthened health system preparedness through maternal-specific protocols, routine training, and adequate resource allocation. Conclusion: Pregnant women’s vulnerability emerges when health service systems, social protection mechanisms, and institutional preparedness fail to function simultaneously during emergency situations.
