Abstract

This research aims to get the effect of using Think Talk Write Strategy on students’ writing descriptive text. This research is quantitative research that applies Quasi-Experimental design. The researcher took 10 students of Germany Study Program of Teacher Training Faculty of Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar as the participants of the research by using purposive sampling.The data was gained through essay test. The students’ writing was scored by using Brown’s Formula. To analyze the data, the researcher used IBMSPSS 20.0. From data analysis, mean of the writing score in experimental group is 81.58, meanwhile mean of the writing score in control group is 64.20. The result of analyzing the data shows the score of t-test is higher than t-table (5.12> 1.67). It can be concluded that there is a significant influence of usingThink Talk Write teaching strategy to the students` ability in writing a descriptive text

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of managing school operational assistance in optimizing learning media at SD N. 173330 Sibuntuon, Lintongnihuta District. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, documentation and in-depth interviews. Data analysis techniques by reducing data, displaying data, and drawing conclusions. This study uses source and technical triangulation as well as theory to find the validity of the data. The results of the research at SD N. 173330 Sibuntuon show that: 1) the strategy for managing school operational assistance in optimizing learning media is carried out with the stages of budget planning (budgeting), budget procurement, budget allocation (allocating), budget use by prioritizing media, learning materials and tools , make bookkeeping (accounting), supervision and accountability following the technical guidelines for BOS; 2) The problems of the school operational assistance management strategy are: a) teachers do not want to actively participate in the process of making RKAS, b) learning media that have been damaged by the time the fiscal year is running, c) lack of understanding of teachers about the technical guidelines for the use of BOS funds, d) some teachers cannot operate learning media, e) the ability of employees to repair damaged learning media. 3) Efforts to overcome the problems of managing School Operational Assistance are a) communication between teachers and the BOS treasurer, b) managing finances, prioritizing learning media that are more important and will be used soon, c) libraries add reading materials, d) provide guidance to teachers about how to use learning media.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran mind mapping terhadap kemampuan menulis cerita fantasi pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Laguboti. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 176 orang yang terdiri dari 6 kelas yaitu VII-1, VII-2, VII-3, dan VII-4, VII-5, VII-6. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas VII-4 berjumlah 28 orang yang diambil dengan proses Simple random sampling. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji “t”. Dari pengolahan data, diperoleh nilai rata-rata Pre-test = 58,92, standar deviasi = 8,79, standar error = 1,69. Pada Post-test, diperoleh nilai rata-rata = 77,67, standar deviasi = 7,61, standar error = 1,46. Berdasarkan uji normalitas, hasil pre-test dan post-test berdistribusi normal. Harga F didapat dari tabel dengan taraf nyata = 0,05 atau (n1 – 1n2 - 1) atau 1,33 4,20 sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa sampel berasal dari populasi yang homogen. Hasil perhitungan uji “t” diperoleh nilai = 8,40. Setelah diketahui, maka nilai tersebut akan dikonsultasikan dengan tabel 1 pada taraf signifikan 5% sebesar 2,05. Berdasarkan perhitungan yang telah dilakukan, maka dapat diketahui , yakni 8,40 . Dengan demikian (hipotesis nihil) ditolak dan (hipotesis alternatif) diterima. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa model pembelajaran mind mapping berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menulis cerita fantasi oleh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 4 Laguboti.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know how HOTS question influence on students’ writing ability in descriptive text at Business Murni Sadar Polytechnic , which the problem of this research was “What extent to the students’ writing ability in descriptive text by applying HOTS question at Business Murni Sadar Polytechnic ?” and the objective of this research was to find out the extent of students’ writing ability in descriptive text by applying high order thinking skill (HOTS) question at Business Murni Sadar Polytechnic. The method that used in this research was quantitative research design. The population of this research was students of Business Murni Sadar Polytechnic Population of this research were 100 students. The sample of this research were 60 students with divided into 30 students as experimental class and 30 students of as control class. The analysis of this research showed that the mean score of pre- test of the experimental group was 53, 566 and control group was 54, 2. The mean of post-test of the experimental group was 82, 066 and control group was 66,25. Testing hypothesis showed that t-test (4,0003) was higher than t-table (1,671) at level of significant 5% for two tailed test. It meant that applying HOTS Question on students’ writing ability in descriptive text gave a good contribution. Based on the result, it can be seen that the students’ writing ability in descriptive text increased. It meant that there was an extent (improvement) of students’ writing ability in descriptive text by applying HOTS Question at Business Murni Sadar Polytechnic.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP St.Maria Parmonangan.Tahun Ajaran 2020/2021. Subjek penelitian iniadalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP St. Maria Parmonangan Tahun Ajaran 2020/2021 yang terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu Kelas VIIa dengan jumlah 32 siswa dan keas VIIb dengan jumlah 32 siswa. Metode penelitian yang dihgunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen, yaitu untuk mengetahui keefektifan Metode Sugesti Imajinasi Berbantuan Audio Visual dalam pembelajaran menulis Narasi Sugestif. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes berupa penugasan bagi siswa untuk menulis narasi sugestif dengan berpedoman terhadap indikator penilaian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka ditarik kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini yaitu Terdapat perbedaan kemampuan menulis narasi sugestif yang signifikan antara siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran menulis narasi sugestif menggunakan metode sugesti imajinasi berbantuan media audio visual dan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran tanpa menggunakan metode sugesti imajinasi berbantuan media audio visual. Perbedaan tersebut terbukti dengan hasil perhitungan dengan program komputer SPSS 16.0 yang dilakukan denganmenggunakan uji-t tes akhir kelompok kontrol dan kelompok eksperimen, yaitu hasil yang penghitungan yang menunjukkan bahwa p lebih kecil dari 0,05(thitung = 12,57; p = 0,00 < 0,05) pada taraf kesalahan 0,05 (5%) dan df sebesar 62. Sehingga metode sugesti imajinasi berbantuan media audio visual efektif dalam pembelajaran menulis narasi sugestif pada siswa kelas VII SMP Swt Santa Maria Parmonangan. Skor rerata kelompok eksperimen mengalami kenaikan sebesar 18,35, pada kelompok kontrol sebesar 7,56. Kedua kelas sama-sama mengalami peningkatan kemampuan menulis narasi sugestif, tetapi kelompok eksperimen mengalami peningkatan yang lebih besar

Abstract

ABSTRACT Based on readers’ perspective reading process is affected by reading habit and the attitude towards reading (Marpaung, M. 2021). Further, due to find the most related factor in second language reading habit, there were three factors compared of first language reading habit, attitude towards reading, and language proficiency, and it was found that language proficiency is mostly affected the second language reading habit (Marpaung, M. 2020). Therefore, there is a willing to know the contribution of reading habit and attitue towards reading in reading cognitive processes. And by administered the close interview it was found that reading habit and attitude towards reading affected cognitive model of reading in its term of schemata activation and handling new and difficult words, it was also mainly affected in finalizing the comprehension of doing concluding or summarizing.

Abstract

This study deals with the effect of prediction strategy to the students’ reading ability.The objectives of this study is to find out where the prediction strategy significantly effective to the student’ reading ability especially in descriptive text.the population of this study were tenth grade of smanegeri 2 siborongborong in academic year 2018/2019 which consist of 350 students .the sample of tis study were 34 students which devided into two groups that is control group and Experimental group.where incontrol group there were 17 students taught without using prediction strategy and in experimrntal group there is 17 students taught with prediction strategy.the instrument for collecting the data was used descriptive text which consist of 20 numbers and each number has five option there were a,b,c,d,ore.after collecting the data the score of pre test and post test from control group and experimental group were different.where there was a significant improvement between both of groups.Where before applying the prediction strategy the mean of the students’ score are 50 but after applying prediction strategy the mean of the students’ score are 80 from the score above there was a significant effect of prediction strategy to the students’ reading ability .

Abstract

This research article focused on analyzing metaphor in selected pop songs of Batak Toba. This study used qualitative research in analyzing the data. The data of this study were the lyrics pop songs of Batak Toba. There were ten pop songs of Batak Toba analyzed in this study. The results of the study shown there were seven types of metaphor used in selected pop songs of Batak Toba. The seven types of metaphor used were: active metaphor consist of 13 lyrics (30,2%), approximation metaphor consist of 8 lyrics (18,6%), mimetic metaphor consist of 6 lyrics (13,9%), phenomenalistic metaphor consist of 6 lines (13,9%), subjective metaphor consist of 5 lyrics (11,6%), symbolism metaphor consist of 3 lyrics (6,9%), precision metaphor consist of 2 lyrics (4,6%). The most dominant type of metaphor that was used in selected pop songs of Batak Toba was active metaphor with the percentage 30,2%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know whether there is a significant correlation between grammar mastery and writing ability at the Tenth Grade of SMK Negeri 1 Siborongborong. The sample of this study is 30 students taken from B class of six. The method used in this study was a quantitative method and the technique used in this study was a correlational technique. In collecting the data, the documentation of students‟ writing scores and the test of grammar are used. The scores of writing were collected from the learning Process of writing subject at Tenth Grade of SMK Negeri 1 Siborongborong. Besides, in assessing students‟ mastery of grammar, this study conducted multiple choice and error identification test to the students. The result of this study shows that there is a very low correlation between students‟ grammar mastery and writing ability. It is proved by the rxy (0.165) is lower than rtable in the degree of significance 5% (0.374) and 1% (0.478). It is considered that the null hypothesis (Ho) is accepted and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected.

Abstract

This thesis dealt with Verb Phrase in Westlife’s Song Lyrics. Verb phrase was an important part of a sentence. It was important to make a study about verb phrase. The data in this study were seven songs of Westlife from their album, The World of Our Own. The song lyrics were analyzed to find out the types of verb phrase, the functions of verb phrase and the meaning of auxiliary in the verb phrase found in Westlife’s song lyrics. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study showed that the functions of the verb phrases in Westlife’s song lyrics were as predicates, as noun phrases modifiers, adjective phrase complements, and verb phrase complements.
