Abstract

The workshop "Strategy and Implementation of Effective Science Laboratory Management" is a community service initiative based on service learning, aimed at improving the capacity of science/physics teachers and laboratory personnel in Gowa Regency in managing laboratories. The primary focus of this activity is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the management of laboratory equipment, materials, and environments to support a high-quality learning process and minimize the risk of accidents. The service method used follows the service learning approach, which consists of three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results of this activity indicate that participants' responses to both the technical aspects and content of the workshop were at a very positive level. Their response to the relevance of the material was highly favorable, and there was a significant improvement in their understanding of science laboratory management after participating in the workshop. Thus, the knowledge and experience gained by the participants are expected to be effectively implemented in school laboratories.

Abstract

Community service activities through strengthening social emotional competence to prevent the vulnerability of elementary school students as victims and perpetrators of bullying aim to raise awareness of the importance of preventing bullying both as victims and perpetrators. Community service methods through socialization, education and role playing. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and document studies. Data analysis using the Miles and Huberman technique. The program was implemented in three stages: preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. First, the preparation stage involved observing students in school, identifying issues, and determining the appropriate forms of intervention. In addition, the implementation stage included strengthening socio-emotional competencies tailored to students’ developmental stages. The next was the monitoring and evaluation stage. It assessed the students’ understanding and evaluated the overall process of the program. The results revealed significant improvements: responsible decision-making increased by 95%, relation skills by 92%, social awareness by 90%, and self-management by 87%. Furthermore, the participants also expressed positive feedback. It deals with the clarity of material delivery, the use of media and supporting tools, and the engaging methods during the program.

Abstract

Social development in children, especially in cooperation behavior is very important to be stimulated from an early age, because it is fundamental to children in interacting with people around them. fundamental in children in interacting with people around them. This service aims to determine cooperative behavior after applying the group discussion method to children aged 5-6 years. This community service research in the form of service learning was carried out at the Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal Minasa Upa Kindergarten, Makassar City with a total of 10 children participating. The instruments used were an animal size sorting activity worksheet, an observation sheet on the achievement of children's cooperative behavior and an evaluation sheet on the implementation of the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of the service show that children are able to increase cooperative behavior in groups. The findings in this service show that the application of the group discussion method is effective in stimulating social interaction and collaboration among children which is the basic foundation for working together and improving their social skills in the future.

Abstract

The Pythagorean Theorem explains the relationship between the sides of a right triangle, which is relevant in everyday life. Students' difficulties in solving problems related to the Pythagorean Theorem remain moderate to high, with limited teaching methods and a lack of individual guidance from teachers contributing to challenges in improving students' understanding. Therefore, a community service activity was conducted in the form of mathematics learning assistance. This activity aimed to enhance students' understanding of the Pythagorean Theorem through mathematics learning assistance at MTs Ash-Shalihin, Gowa Regency. The assistance was carried out using a collaborative approach, lectures, discussions, and practical demonstrations of the theorem using grid paper. The results showed a significant improvement in students' understanding, with the majority achieving high and very high learning outcomes. Individualized approaches and interactive learning motivated students and helped them maintain focus. This study highlights the importance of structured learning assistance in supporting the success of geometry education. Future research is recommended to integrate technology and explore its impact on other aspects, such as motivation and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The digital literacy skills of students in the madrasah environment still need to be improved to present educational content that reflects the values of religious moderation. This community service program aims to improve the ability of MA Wihdatul Ulum Gowa students in producing educational digital content with the theme of religious moderation. The activity was carried out through several stages, namely preparation, socialization of the concept of religious moderation and digital literacy, technical training in content production, intensive mentoring, to curation and publication of works. The pre-post-test evaluation showed a significant increase in understanding of the values of tawasuth, tasamuh, tawazun, and i'tidal with an average difference of 35%. In addition, participants produce digital content works consisting of short videos, and educational posters, and podcasts published on the school's digital media platform. This program also contributes to increasing students' confidence in digital communication, the formation of moderate attitudes, and the dissemination of peaceful and inclusive religious messages in society. Thus, this PkM activity has proven to be effective in strengthening religious moderation through a digital literacy approach based on content creativity and is recommended to be developed sustainably through the formation of a community of moderation content creators in schools.

Abstract

The majority of Indonesian society adheres to Islam, with the Qur’an and the Sunnah serving as the main sources of guidance in daily life. Understanding these two sources requires proficiency in the Arabic language. However, not all Islamic educational institutions have an active Arabic-speaking environment. This community service program was conducted at Pesantren DDI Mattoangin Bantaeng and involved 30 participants consisting of male and female students. The program aimed to support Arabic language learning in order to improve students’ vocabulary mastery and their ability to use Arabic in daily communication. The activities were implemented through a direct mentoring approach packaged in the form of an Arabic Language Village, a learning model that had never been applied in the pesantren before. The results indicate significant improvements in daily vocabulary acquisition, pronunciation fluency, and speaking confidence, as reflected in increased student participation in dialogues, competitions, group conversations, and the use of Arabic within the dormitory environment. The program also had a positive impact on students’ motivation and attitudes toward learning Arabic. Therefore, this Arabic language mentoring program proved effective in creating an active and communicative language environment and is worthy of being developed sustainably to support the improvement of students’ Arabic language competence in the future.

Abstract

This mentoring program aimed to enhance the capacity of scientific journal managers at Universitas Al Asyariyah Mandar, STIBA Makassar, STAI Al Azhar Gowa, and Universitas Islam Ahmad Dahlan (UIAD) Sinjai, particularly in understanding and implementing the National Journal Accreditation guidelines (ARJUNA). The mentoring was conducted through a phased approach that included mapping the initial conditions of the journals, reviewing editorial governance, analyzing article content, as well as engaging in discussions and hands-on practice in journal management using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. The identification results indicate that the assisted journals generally face similar challenges, including weak documentation of editorial policies and publication ethics, suboptimal peer-review mechanisms, limited diversity among editorial boards and reviewers, low article readability quality, and inconsistent publication schedules. The mentoring subsequently focused on strengthening ARJUNA literacy by outlining journal quality improvement strategies based on best practices derived from journals accredited at SINTA 2. These strategies encompassed the structuring of transparent and standards-compliant journal policies, strengthening the roles of editors and reviewers, implementing systematic and well-documented editorial workflows, improving article quality through more rigorous manuscript selection, and enhancing metadata quality and journal presentation. The implications of this activity demonstrate that the mentoring process not only contributes to improvements in the technical and administrative aspects of journal management but also fosters a paradigm shift toward more strategic, sustainable, and academically quality-oriented journal governance. Accordingly, mentoring serves as an important institutional learning process in preparing these journals to advance their accreditation status toward SINTA 2.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the scientific publication competence of madrasah teachers through a classroom action research workshop held at the Aston Palu Hotel, Central Sulawesi. The workshop was attended by 100 madrasah teachers from various levels of education, including MI, MTs, and MA. The implementation methods included presentations on the concepts and methodologies of classroom action research, scientific article writing, publication techniques, and intensive assistance in the preparation of classroom action research articles. The activity was evaluated through a satisfaction survey that measured the suitability and usefulness of the material, the depth of the material, the competence of the facilitators, participant satisfaction, and the comfort and service provided by the committee. The satisfaction survey results showed a very high level of satisfaction with an average score of 4.9 out of 5.0 on all aspects, indicating that the workshop was very effective in achieving its objectives. Participants felt motivated, enlightened, and encouraged to immediately put the knowledge they had gained into practice by compiling PTK and publishing it. The results show that the classroom action research publication workshop is an effective strategy for improving the scientific publication competence of madrasah teachers, with recommendations to provide post-workshop assistance, organize ongoing programs, and expand the program's reach to various regions.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve students' collaborative skills and understanding of mathematical concepts through the application of a guided inquiry learning model on exponential material at SMP Negeri 2 Sleman, Yogyakarta. The activity was carried out over 45 days through six stages, namely initial observation, preparation of teaching tools, socialization of the learning model, explanation of the material, implementation of group learning, and presentation and reflection on the results of the activity. An observation instrument was used to assess five indicators of student collaboration skills, namely active contribution, productive work, responsibility, flexibility and compromise, and mutual respect. The results of the community service showed an increase in all aspects of collaboration skills with an average increase of 21%. The highest increase occurred in the flexibility and compromise indicator at 23%, which shows that students are increasingly able to adapt and work together with their group mates. In addition, students' conceptual understanding of exponential rules also improved through discussion activities and contextual problem solving. Thus, the application of the guided inquiry learning model was effective in fostering collaboration and deepening students' mathematical conceptual understanding in exponential learning.
