Abstract

Bulukumba Regency is one of the administrative districts in South Sulawesi. The aim of this research is to increase students' ecological awareness by introducing the concept of a living pharmacy which emphasizes maintaining plants that are beneficial for health, the environment and the use of empty land and to introduce and inform about the processing of unused organic waste into liquid fertilizer that is beneficial for plants (Ecoenzyme). This research also aims to measure the effectiveness of using ecoenzymes in increasing plant productivity. In this research, testing and analysis methods were used for natural enzymes produced from organic materials and methods for identifying medicinal plants.

Abstract

Looking at the problems experienced in the world of education, ecoliteracy is one of the many problems. Lack of understanding and awareness to keep the environment healthy and clean. This must be followed up by conducting research which aims to provide students with an understanding of the importance of ecoliteracy through Recycling activities in the form of training and inorganic waste management. The results obtained from this research show that the activities carried out can produce positive results for the environment and students. Where students can hone their creativity and the environment can be followed up so that it remains maintained.

Abstract

The ability to recognize number symbols is an important aspect of cognitive development in early childhood. However, some children still have difficulty recognizing the symbols for numbers 1–10, so an engaging and age-appropriate learning approach is needed. This community service activity aims to improve children's ability to recognize number symbols through the use of thematically designed and interactive flannel boards. The type of community service conducted is service learning through thematic learning support using educational media. The activity was carried out at TK Madani Alauddin in Makassar City, involving 15 children. The effectiveness of the activity was measured through observations of children's engagement and achievement of cognitive development indicators, particularly the ability to recognize number symbols 1–10. The results showed that most children achieved the “very good development” category, indicating that the flannel board medium was effective in helping children understand number symbols concretely. Therefore, the use of educational media such as flannel boards can be recommended as a fun and meaningful learning strategy for counting in early childhood education.

Abstract

Improving the ability to recognize geometric shapes in children aged 4-5 years is very important, because this is the basis for children to understand the environment and basic mathematical concepts. This study aims to determine the increase in the ability to recognize geometric shapes after the application of the geometric shape matching play method in children aged 4-5 years. This community service research in the form of service learning was conducted at Qalbin Salim Islamic Kindergarten with the participation of 5 children. The instruments used were in the form of game tools in the form of matching geometric shapes to help the ability to recognize geometric shapes, observation sheets for children's achievement, and evaluation sheets for the implementation of the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to measure the increase in children's ability to recognize geometric shapes. The results of this community service research show that children are able to recognize and match geometric shapes with an 80% success rate in applying the method. The findings in this study imply that the geometric shape matching play method is effective in improving children's ability to recognize shapes, as well as providing a positive contribution to children's cognitive and fine motor development.

Abstract

Vocabulary acquisition in early childhood requires methods suited to children's cognitive and developmental characteristics. This community service project aimed to assist Arabic vocabulary (mufrodat) learning through the audio-visual method at TK/TPA Al-Fathani, Gowa. The implementation stages included planning, which covered material development, instructional techniques, assignment of session responsibilities, and preparation of learning tools. The content focused on numbers 1–10, emphasizing meaning accuracy, pronunciation, vocabulary mastery, and sequencing. The teaching process utilized songs, videos, flashcards, and direct practice. Grounded in behaviorist and cognitivist theories, this approach aimed to build language habits and understanding through engaging, multisensory experiences. Results showed that the audio-visual method created an enjoyable learning atmosphere, increased children’s active participation, and effectively supported their memorization of Arabic numbers.

Abstract

Mathematics is an important subject because the topics in it are interrelated at every level. Matrix is one of the subjects where students make many mistakes and have difficulty in understanding concepts, especially determinants and inverses of matrices. This service is a learning assistance for students at MA Madani Alauddin Pao-Pao South Sulawesi, which aims to provide guidance to students in solving determinants an inverse of matrices through determinant an matrix board media. This service was carried out by Mathematics Education students of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Keguruan UIN Alauddin Makassar for 8 meetings, by making determinant and invers matrix board media to help students understand matrix concepts, especially determinants and inverses of matrices. The result of this service resulted in an increase in students’ understanding of the determinant dan inverse matrix and produced a positive response from students with the enthusiasm shown towards learning assistance.

Abstract

The use of cooking oil at the household level is a basic necessity since many foods are processed through frying. Used cooking oil is often disposed of improperly, leading to environmental damage as it is considered waste. This community service activity aims to provide outreach and assistance to households in utilizing waste cooking oil to add value rather than discarding it carelessly or consuming it in an unfit condition. This activity was conducted in Taroada Village, Turikale District, Maros Regency. The goal of this activity is to educate household members by providing guidance on soap making from waste cooking oil. The method used in this study is service learning, in which the material is delivered through hands-on soap-making practice and a question-and-answer session to encourage active participation. The result of this activity is that the community becomes aware of the health and environmental impacts of waste cooking oil and learns how to recycle it into soap.

Abstract

Learning media is used in the learning process to facilitate teachers in implementing learning, one of the media that is often used in the learning process is a wall magazine (mading). This assistance aims to enable students to know how to make learning media and to know or understand learning media in the learning process. The method used by researchers in this community service is the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method which has three stages, namely: the planning stage, the implementation stage, and the reflection stage. This community service was carried out at the Al-Markaz Al-Islami Darul Istiqama Sinjai Islamic Boarding School. The subjects in this community service were 24 students. The results obtained from the beginning to the end of the community service were that students were able to make learning media in the form of wall magazines (mading) and understood the usefulness of media in the learning process.

Abstract

Mathematics education currently continues to face various challenges, especially at MTSN Kota Batu where most students still have low mathematical literacy skills, this is due to the lack of effectiveness of the learning models implemented. Therefore, it is necessary to provide learning assistance so that students can improve their mathematical literacy skills. The community service method used is the Service-Learning method. This learning assistance is carried out with an interactive and comprehensive approach. The aim of this learning assistance is so that students can improve their mathematical literacy skills by implementing the E-Split Classroom learning model. The result of the learning assistance activities that have been carried out is that students' mathematical literacy skills are facilitated, this is proven by an average of 72.7 in the high category. Thus, learning assistance activities are recommended to be carried out periodically and continuously in an effort to face various challenges that exist, especially in the world of mathematics. The follow-up plans that will be carried out include regular learning assistance, teacher training to optimize the E-Split Classroom model, as well as monitoring, evaluation and development of teaching materials to improve students' mathematical literacy skills on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

Augmented Reality (AR) is an innovative technology that is able to present three-dimensional virtual objects in the real world, thus providing an interactive learning experience. AR-based learning media has the potential to help students understand abstract concepts in geometry transformation more clearly and interestingly. This community service aims to facilitate the learning process of students on geometry transformation material using Augmented Reality (AR) based learning media. The activity was carried out at Insan Cendekia Syech Yusuf High School with three main stages, namely the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. In the preparation stage, AR learning media development and preparation of learning tools were carried out. The implementation stage includes the introduction of the concept of geometric transformation and direct practice of using AR learning media by students. The evaluation stage was carried out with learning outcome tests and questionnaires to measure the effectiveness and learners' responses to the activities. The evaluation results showed that the average learning outcomes of learners were 74, with a good category. In addition, the average learner response to the implementation of mentoring is 72.36, which is included in the positive category. These findings indicate that AR-based learning assistance can make a positive contribution to learners. Thus, learning assistance using AR-based learning media is feasible to be applied in learning mathematics.
