Abstract

The prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) continues to increase globally and is projected to triple by 2030. Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that requires effective self-management, according to Perkani. The inability of families to understand and recognize their crucial role in caring for DM patients can have serious consequences on the patients' well-being. This study aims to determine the effect of family role education on family support in the ability to care for diabetes mellitus patients. The research design is a quantitative study adopting a Quasi-Experimental method with a Non-Randomized Without Control Group Pretest and Posttest Design approach. The population comprises diabetes patients using the outpatient services at Hermina Hospital Depok in May, with a purposive sampling technique involving 25 respondents. The results indicate that the distribution of family support before the education showed 76% in the unsupportive category, and after the education, it increased to 84%. The Paired Sample T-Test significance was 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Thus, this study shows that family role education has a significant effect on family support in the ability to care for diabetes mellitus patients.

Abstract

Musculoskeletal conditions rank second as the largest cause of global disability, with low back pain being the leading cause of global disability. Low back pain is a symptom of discomfort or pain in the lower back area caused by disorders or abnormalities in the muscles and tendons without neurological involvement. If low back pain persists without efforts to address this health issue, it is feared that it may affect workers' performance, potentially leading to dismissal from the company or early retirement. This study aims to determine how repetitive movements contribute to the risk of low back pain. The research design is quantitative, adopting a descriptive correlational methodology with a cross-sectional approach. The population comprises all employees of PT. X, totaling 116 employees, with a purposive sampling technique using 53 respondents. The results show that the distribution of repetitive movements in the high category was 39.7%, and the high risk of low back pain was 43.4%. The Spearman Rank correlation coefficient was 0.783, indicating a very strong relationship since the r-value is close to 1, and the significance value (sig) was 0.000. Therefore, this study indicates that there is a relationship between repetitive movements and the risk of low back pain at PT. X.

Abstract

Legal protection for nurses is an important aspect of nursing practice aimed at ensuring the safety and security of nurses while carrying out their professional duties. Legal protection for nurses is crucial in this situation. With the existence of regulations governing the rights and obligations of nurses, it is hoped that it can provide assurance that nurses are protected from acts of violence or threats that may arise while performing their duties. Law Number 36 of 2014 on Health Workers and Law Number 17 of 2023 on Health provide a clear legal framework for this protection. The authority of nurses to perform medical actions and nursing care must be balanced with adequate legal protection. When nurses face potentially dangerous situations, they must feel safe to carry out their duties without fear of negative repercussions from patients or their families. Therefore, it is important to create a safe working environment where nurses can perform their roles with professionalism and without threats. Research Objective Juridical Normative with a descriptive research method. Results The results of this study conclude that the legal relationship established between nurses and patients has implications for legal protection from ethical aspects and legal responsibilities in each institution, such as hospitals. While the regulations governing this are clear, their application in the field is still minimal due to the lack of legal awareness among nurses regarding protection from violence that may be perpetrated by patients or their families. Increasing legal understanding among nurses is essential to optimize protection and enhance the quality of health services.

The method used is quantitative with observation data collection techniques, and questionnaires. The population and sample used were 55 respondents, namely nursing employees at the X Bandung General Hospital. This study uses data analysis techniques: Validity Test, Reliability Test, and Spearman Rank Correlation Test. The results of the Spearman Rank Correlation Test show that changes in one variable do not have a significant effect on the other variables, however, there is still a positive relationship between the two variables can be seen from the correlation value of 0.168 and the significance of 0.221 meaning that when the value of "Cognitive Process" increases, then, The value of "quality of work" tends to increase as well. The obstacles found are a long enough time span for the collection of administrative files and limited resources at the time of credentialing.

Abstract

To what extent can hospital non-medical personnel be improved by employee education and training? That is the question this research seeks to answer. Interviews with up to two HRD staff members from the ET&D department were conducted to gather data for this qualitative descriptive study. Systematic and planned additional training considerably increases workers' competency and motivation to work, according to the study's findings. Management buy-in and company culture are other factors that could make or break a growth initiative. The hospital administration hopes to use this data to design a better training program for non-medical employees.

Abstract

Mangroves are common plants found in coastal areas that are affected by the tides of sea water and river estuaries. Most mangrove plants have therapeutic properties. Secondary metabolite chemical compounds found in mangroves include alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, terpenoids, steroids, and saponins. Antioxidant chemicals are one of the substances produced by mangroves. Antioxidant chemical compounds are available in two types which are synthetic and natural and aim to ward off free radicals. The purpose of this study was to determine the yield of stem and leaf extracts of mangrove plants (Rhizophora mucronate Poir.), and to determine the antioxidant potential value of mangrove plant stem and leaf extracts (Rhizophora mucronate Poir.) by the FRAP method. The results of phytochemical screening tests of mangrove stem and leaf plants contain compounds of Flavonoids, Saponins, Tannins, Terpenoids and Alkaloids. The antioxidant potential in the stem sample was 116.84 mgAAE/gram Extract and the leaves were 126.22 mgAAE/g Extract. The antioxidant yield of mangrove stems and leaves has a strong category.
