Abstract

Respiratory disorder has very high prevalence in Mataram District hospital in January to May 2018. They are 326 cases of patients with respiratory disorder. One of treatments for patiens with respiratory disorder is pursed lips breathing (PLB). This research is aimed at determining the effect of training of pursed lips breathing on oxygen saturation of patients with respiratory disorder in emergency room of Mataram District Hospital. This research is pre-exsperimental study with two group pre-test post-test design. The samples were selected through non-probality accidental sampling. The data were analyzed with paired-test using SPSS 16. The data were collected through observation and pulse Oxymetry. Based of study found ther is effect of pursed lips breathing on oxygen saturation in patients with respiratory disorder in Mataram District hospital. It is inferred that there is effect of providing pursed lips breathing on oxygen saturation of patients with respiratory disorder in emergency room of Mataram District Hospitsl. It is recommended that training of pursed lips breathing be used to improve life quality of patients with respiratory disorder.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the development of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Mataram City from January to September in 2023 and 2024. In addition, this study also aims to identify and analyze certain patterns or trends in the CPI comparison between the two years. This research also evaluates and explains the implications of CPI differences for the local economy. These include the impact on people's purchasing power, consumption patterns, and the affected economic sectors. The analytical methods used include descriptive and quantitative analysis by utilizing secondary data. The results show that there is a significant difference in the CPI between 2023 and 2024. The average CPI in January to September 2023 is 113.69, which is higher than the same period in 2024 which has an average of 106.03. This difference indicates that the cost of living in 2023 is higher, while the decrease in CPI in 2024 has the potential to increase people's purchasing power. These findings have important implications for the local economy in Mataram City, including changes in consumption patterns and impacts on various economic sectors.

Abstract

Food stalls are one form of culinary business that faces challenges in managing limited raw materials to maximize profits. This study uses a linear programming method with a Simplex approach to optimize the profits of Solo food stalls that sell three main menus: fried rice, fried noodles, and meatballs. The optimization model is designed by considering the limitations of raw materials such as vegetables, eggs, chicken, oil, sauce, and spices, as well as the selling price and cost of raw materials per portion. In this case, we use manual and software analysis, namely by using POM-QM for Windows. The results of manual and software analysis show the same results, namely by producing 25 additional packages of fried rice and 33.33 packages of meatballs. Because the requested results use integer numbers, we perform branch and bound analysis to produce the maximum value with all values ????of x1, x2, x3 are decimal numbers. The optimization results show that the Simplex method can determine the combination of the number of portions of each menu optimally to achieve maximum profit without violating resource constraints. Thus, this article was created so that we can determine the maximum profit with the availability of existing raw materials and with the capacity that traders have to make it easier for traders to manage.

Abstract

Social media has become an important part of daily life, especially among university students. The ease of access to information and communication through digital platforms brings both positive and negative impacts, one of which is the increasing addiction to social media. This study aims to analyze social media addiction among students using the SIR (Susceptible-Infected-Recovered) model. This model categorizes the population into three groups: individuals susceptible to addiction ( ), individuals experiencing addiction ( ), and individuals who have recovered from addiction ( ). The model is solved using numerical methods, namely the Euler method and the Heun method, which are applied in simulations using MATLAB software. The simulation results show that social media addiction spreads within a population following a distinctive pattern, where the number of addicted individuals increases before eventually declining due to increased awareness and specific interventions. Additionally, the Heun method provides more accurate solutions compared to the Euler method, highlighting the importance of precise numerical approaches in modeling addiction dynamics. These findings offer insights into how social media addiction develops and how prevention and recovery strategies can be effectively implemented among students.

Abstract

Typhoid fever, caused by Salmonella typhi infection, remains a public health issue in developing countries, including Indonesia, with the highest prevalence among children aged 5–14 years. This study aimed to analyze the leukocyte profile of pediatric typhoid fever patients at Graha Medika Clinic, Banjar Regency. An observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach was used. The sample included 526 pediatric patients with Widal titers ?1/320 who underwent complete blood tests. Results revealed that 71.3% of patients had normal leukocyte counts, while 22.4% showed leukocytosis and 6.3% had leukopenia. Simple linear regression analysis indicated no significant relationship between Widal titers and leukocyte levels (R² = 0.002). These findings suggest that most pediatric typhoid fever cases present with normal leukocyte counts. Among abnormal cases, leukocytosis was more common, though leukopenia was also observed.

Abstract

Life tables are a fundamental tool in actuarial mathematics, providing a systematic framework for mortality analysis and survival probability calculations. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of life table construction methodology, its applications in the insurance and pension industries, and recent developments in this field. Using a systematic literature review approach, this study analyzes 20 relevant publications from 2014–2024, with a particular focus on the 10 most recent publications from the past 5 years. The results show that life tables have undergone significant evolution in their construction methodology, particularly with the integration of machine learning and big data analysis techniques. Applications of life tables have also expanded, encompassing not only life insurance premium calculations and actuarial valuations, but also longevity risk analysis, retirement planning, and public health policy. Recent developments indicate an increasing trend in the use of stochastic models, dynamic mortality projections, and adaptation to global demographic changes. This study contributes to a holistic understanding of the role of life tables in modern actuarial mathematics and provides insights into future development directions.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with high biodiversity that have many plants, one of them is japanesse pepaya plant (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius). Japanese pepaya leaves used by people as a traditional medicine, this is because pepaya leaves contain compounds that can act as antibacterials. Escherichia coli is a normal flora that found in the human large intestine (colon). Escherichia coli can cause primary infections, one of the infections is diarrhea. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of Japanese pepaya leaf juice (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria and to determine the concentration of Japanese pepaya leaf extract that is effective in inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria. This type of research is a laboratory experiment. The inhibition test used the Kirby Bauer agar diffusion method. The research variables were the concentration of Japanese pepaya leaf extract of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%, and the growth inhibition zone of Escherichia coli bacteria. The results of this study showed that no inhibition zone formed around the wells when Japanese pepaya extract was administered at various concentrations. The conclusion of this study is that Japanese pepaya (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) leaf juice has no potential to inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria.
