Abstract

This study investigated the elements within educational environments that students and teachers perceive as critical for advancing gender equality and social inclusion. Using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology, focus group interviews were conducted with students (boys and girls) and teachers across five schools in Samtse Dzongkhag. Participants were asked to identify and reflect on the key aspects they consider important for promoting inclusion and gender equality within their school environments. The findings revealed distinct priorities between the groups. Boys and teachers primarily emphasized the importance of physical infrastructure, such as school buildings, playgrounds, and gender-sensitive facilities, viewing these as essential to fostering gender equality. In contrast, girls highlighted social and emotional aspects, including equal treatment, access to resources, and the need for a supportive school culture. The study underscored the importance of integrating both physical and non-physical elements to create inclusive and equitable educational spaces. These insights provide valuable evidence to inform practices and policies that promote gender equality and social inclusion in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the main challenges faced by principals in managing the curriculum transition in senior high schools and the strategies implemented to overcome these obstacles. The implementation of the Independent Curriculum requires significant adaptation for principals and educators, especially in terms of understanding and implementing changes that include more independent and project-based learning management. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study method, where data is collected through in-depth interviews with principals, teachers, and school supervisors. Purposive sampling technique was applied to select informants who have direct experience in implementing the Independent Curriculum. Data analysis was carried out thematically with a source triangulation approach to increase the validity of the research results. The findings of this study indicate that the main challenges lie in teacher understanding and infrastructure readiness, while the strategies implemented include intensive training and clear division of roles between educators. Evaluations and recommendations from school supervisors also provide important contributions in assessing the success of curriculum implementation. The contribution of these findings is expected to be a reference for education policies in optimizing curriculum transition in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of school principals in improving teachers’ pedagogical competence in the digital era through a visionary and instructional leadership. Pedagogical competence is a fundamental foundation for professional educators, particularly in addressing learning dynamics in the digital age, which demands adaptive, innovative, and transformational skills. This research uses a case study with a qualitative method to explore the processes and strategies applied to enhance teachers’ pedagogical competence. The findings show that principals play a strategic role by implementing various techniques, such as educational technology training, ongoing supervision, digital infrastructure provision, and strengthening collaboration in professional learning communities. However, challenges like low digital literacy and resistance to change remain obstacles. The implications of this study highlight that the success of digital education transformation depends not only on technology but also on the quality of human resources, especially teachers, in managing learning professionally and reflectively.

Abstract

This research explores the role of ethics, morality, and intellectual stimulation in improving the quality of lecturers’ careers at a higher education institution grounded in Islamic values. The study focuses on how these factors contribute to developing lecturers’ academic and professional competencies while upholding Islamic principles. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing interviews and observations with key university stakeholders, including rectors, deans, and lecturers, to gather insights into the institution’s practices and programs. The findings reveal that ethics and morality, particularly integrity, justice, and responsibility, are central to leadership practices and contribute to a harmonious academic environment. Intellectual stimulation, through training programs, workshops, and collaborative research, significantly enhances critical thinking and creativity among lecturers. Furthermore, a strong religious community fosters collaboration and supports career growth. The implications of this research suggest that integrating ethical values and intellectual engagement in academic environments can lead to more effective career development for lecturers, aligning with both professional growth and moral integrity. The study also highlights the need for future research to broaden the scope, incorporating diverse educational settings and gender perspectives to provide a more comprehensive understanding.

Abstract

This study focuses on the role of social modality of kiai in the development of pesantren institutions, with a case study at Burhanul Abrar Islamic Boarding School, Situbondo. Through a qualitative approach and case study strategy, this study explores how community trust in kiai, alumni loyalty, and kiai involvement in socio-religious forums contribute to the sustainability and strengthening of pesantren institutions. The results of the study indicate that non-material social capital such as social networks, reciprocity values, and collective norms can be effectively mobilized by kiai to encourage collective participation and social transformation based on local wisdom. The implications of these findings enrich the literature on social capital in the context of traditional religious education and highlight the importance of the kiai's position as an agent of social change in the community. This study also opens up space for new methodological approaches in the study of pesantren, while encouraging the need for further exploration with a mixed methods approach and wider coverage for more representative results.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of transformational leadership strategies employed by the principal on improving teacher performance. Transformational leadership, characterized by inspiring and motivating teachers, plays a crucial role in fostering an environment conducive to professional growth. This qualitative case study examines how the principal’s leadership strategies—such as clear vision communication, individualized support, and fostering collaboration—have influenced teacher motivation, engagement, and overall performance. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s qualitative data analysis framework. Findings indicate that the principal’s integrated transformational strategies have led to enhanced teacher performance, with teachers reporting greater motivation, adoption of innovative teaching methods, and improved student engagement. The principal’s clear and inspiring vision was also found to play a key role in aligning teachers' individual goals with the broader objectives of the school. This research contributes to the field of educational leadership by providing empirical evidence on the practical application of transformational leadership in a rural school context, highlighting its potential to improve teacher performance even in resource-constrained environments.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of change management in enhancing the pedagogical competence of university lecturers. It addresses the growing need for educational institutions, particularly Islamic universities, to adapt to evolving educational demands and improve teaching quality through effective change management strategies. A qualitative research design was used, combining interviews, document analysis, and direct observation for data collection. The findings reveal that implemented change management initiatives have positively impacted lecturers’ pedagogical skills, leading to improved teaching methods, curriculum innovations, and more flexible instructional practices. Despite these positive outcomes, challenges such as limited training opportunities and insufficient collaboration with other academic institutions remain. The study highlights the importance of strategic planning and ongoing change management in improving pedagogical competence and recommends establishing comprehensive training programs and more substantial collaborative efforts with external academic partners.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of supervision programs in enhancing teaching skills, teacher performance, and learning quality at SD Negeri 013 Tana Tidung. A quantitative survey method was employed, involving 19 teachers as the main population and 24 students from grades 4 to 6 as additional participants. Data was collected using questionnaires and structured interviews, with analysis performed through descriptive and correlational statistics. The findings indicated that the supervision program led to significant improvements in all three variables: teaching skills increased by 28% (from 3.2 to 4.1 on a 5-point scale), teacher performance improved by 22% (from 72 to 88 on a 100-point scale), and students' average scores rose by 15% (from 68 to 78 on a 100-point scale). Supervision methods such as teacher meetings, teaching demonstrations, and classroom observations effectively provided constructive feedback to enhance teaching practices. However, the study faced limitations, including a small sample size and reliance on teachers' perceptions for data collection. Future research should expand the sample size and incorporate diverse methods, like direct observation and longitudinal analysis, to assess student outcomes. These findings offer valuable insights into improving educational supervision in primary schools.
