Abstract

In recent decades, the issue of quality of life has become a concern in many fields of study, one of which is education. Therefore, education is considered one of the factors that drive subjective well-being in educational institutions. This study aims to analyze the challenges of subjective well-being of students at Maitreyawira Batam High School in learning the independent curriculum and to analyze the subjective well-being of students. Using qualitative research methods, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation from 11 research informants. The researcher then analyzed the data using data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that the national curriculum still has obstacles to subjective well-being, with the existence of several negative affects. However, behind the shortcomings of the national curriculum, there is a good cognitive assessment that the national curriculum can support students in improving their quality of life in achieving their goals and aspirations. The results of this study offer a contribution in the form of new ideas in analyzing the education curriculum as a driver of the phenomenon of quality of life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the institutional consolidation of the Golkar Party in the 2024 Legislative Elections in Tebo Regency. This study uses a qualitative case study approach. This study uses primary data from in-depth interviews and secondary data from documentation. The findings of this study indicate that the institutionalization of the Golkar Party in Tebo Regency is relatively strong, particularly in terms of roots in society, level of organization, and coherence. The Golkar Party has maintained close ties with the community, built a solid organizational structure, and sustained internal cohesion through regular candidate consolidation and training. This has been a key factor in the party's success in the 2024 elections. However, weaknesses remain in the autonomy dimension, as decision-making processes are still dominated by party elites and selection mechanisms remain only partially transparent. This situation highlights a gap between democratic principles and political practices on the ground. Implications: The electoral success of political parties does not depend solely on short-term campaign strategies but also on consistent, democratic institutional strength.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of life expectancy, literacy rate, and per capita expenditure on poverty levels in Indonesia. The research applies a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression to analyze the relationships among variables. The study utilizes secondary time-series data covering the period from 2005 to 2022, consisting of 18 annual observations obtained from official publications of Statistics Indonesia (BPS). Prior to regression analysis, classical assumption testing was conducted, particularly the normality test. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the t-test to assess partial effects, the F-test to examine simultaneous effects, and the coefficient of determination (R²) to measure the explanatory power of the model. The findings reveal that life expectancy, literacy rate, and per capita expenditure jointly have a significant effect on poverty levels in Indonesia. Partially, per capita expenditure significantly contributes to reducing poverty, while life expectancy and literacy rate do not exhibit statistically significant effects during the observation period. The coefficient of determination indicates that a substantial proportion of the variation in poverty levels can be explained by the three independent variables included in the model. These results highlight the importance of improving economic welfare as a key element in poverty reduction efforts.

Abstract

The complexity of the modern healthcare system demands an approach that not only focuses on the medical aspect but also pays attention to the social and psychological dimensions of patients. In this context, Medical Social Workers (MSW) play an important role as a liaison between patients and the health system to improve quality of life, especially for patients with chronic diseases. This study aims to analyze the role of MSW in improving the quality of life of patients through psychosocial support, facilitation of access to health services, and strengthening patients' capacity in managing their health conditions. The method used is a qualitative approach with literature study and conceptual analysis. The results of the study showed that MSW plays a significant role in helping patients overcome social barriers, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase participation in daily activities. MSW also contributes to promotive and preventive efforts through education and health promotion in the community. The existence of MSW is a strategic element in holistic health services. The integration of medical and social aspects through the role of MSW has been proven to support improving the quality of life of patients and strengthening the effectiveness of the overall health system. Policy implications from this study emphasize the importance of clear regulations, improved professional competence, and strengthened budget allocation for MSW professional development in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the form and quality of women's political involvement in the Village Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbangdes) in Karetan Village using a liberal feminist perspective that emphasizes the equality of rights, opportunities, and freedoms of women in the public decision-making process. The method used in this study is qualitative with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document collection to understand gender interactions in the village deliberation forum. The research findings indicate that women in Karetan Village structurally have good access to Musrenbangdes through village officials, women's organization networks, and community communication media. However, the quality of women's participation still varies. Women involved in organizations such as the PKK tend to be more active in expressing opinions and proposing programs, while women who are not members of social organizations often play a passive role due to psychological barriers, limited organizational experience, and domestic burdens. Women's contributions to the deliberations are more focused on issues such as public health, family education, environmental cleanliness, and strengthening the household economy, thereby enriching the village development agenda which was previously more focused on infrastructure. From a liberal feminist perspective, these findings indicate that formal equality is beginning to be realized, but substantive equality still requires capacity building, social support, and women's empowerment strategies so that participation in village development becomes more inclusive.

Abstract

Local head elections in Indonesia are not merely arenas of formal competition among candidates but also involve informal actors who play strategic roles in mobilizing political support. This study aims to analyze the power relations among candidates, local elites, and voters in electoral politics in the Tapal Kuda region of East Java, employing the perspectives of social banditry as developed by Eric Hobsbawm and the concept of moral economy proposed by James C. Scott. This research adopts a qualitative approach within an interpretive paradigm and applies a descriptive-ethnographic method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis in Jember, with additional data from Situbondo and Banyuwangi. Informants include electoral candidates, campaign teams, local elites (such as kyai, religious leaders, local strongmen, and business actors), as well as voters. The findings reveal that local elites function as political brokers who mediate the relationship between candidates and voters through transactional mechanisms that, in many cases, evolve into forms of social banditry. These practices are not only related to the distribution of political resources but are also socially legitimized through moral-economic values. The resulting power relations are symbiotic in nature but produce structural consequences, including high-cost politics, the dependency of elected leaders on elite networks, and the weakening of local democratic quality.
