Abstract

Generally, local traditions in urban areas are regressed or extinct along with modernization or globalization processes. But the tradition that is still maintained by a group of people can be found in Kampung Ceger RW 18 Jakasetia Bekasi City. Arisan tradition in this village is motivated by religious factors, Islam. This research analyzes the perpetrators and the tradition values that are oriented on Islamic teachings and its role in Arisan tradition. The phenomenon of Arisan in Betawi community can be analyzed with the motivation theory of Max Weber. The results show the Arisan tradition has religious motivation. The religious motivation element is the Betawi’s existence who belongs to the group Raden and Kai (ordinary people) as perpetrators. Other observed elements are togetherness, reciprocity, watchful, and mutually beneficial. These values are in accordance with Islamic teachings, such as solidarity and righteousness. Thus, the values legitimize Arisan tradition in the Betawi community.Key words: Motivation; Islam; Arisan; Betawi

Abstract

This cross-sectional qualitative study was conducted to understand teachers’ expectations of their professional development that will inform the policy and practice of effective teacher professional development programs. The participants of the study were in-service English teachers who were alumni of professional development programs held at a training centre in Banda Aceh-Indonesia under the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA). Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and data collected were analysed using thematic analysis. The findings show that teachers had high expectations when attending a professional development program. Another significant findings were teachers expected qualified trainers both instructional and interactional; the provision of good quality training facilities, resources, and infrastructure; adequate and equal teachers’ access to professional development that meets their professional development’s needs, career and learning journey. These elements were perceived by teacher participants as important criteria for effective teacher professional development, especially in Aceh’s context.  Keywords: teachers’ expectation; teacher professional development; trainer’s quality; learning environment

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine how technological advancement, particularly in the area of information technology, has affected academic institutions. This is significant because information technology now permeates all facets of modern civilization and human life. This study used a qualitative methodology and descriptive analysis. The Madrasah Ibtidaiyah is the locus. The information used in the analysis was gathered from the academic information system findings implemented in this madrasah. The outcomes of descriptive analysis have been able to support and facilitate the development of educational programs that bring together all academics, including educators, instructors, support staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders.Keywords: Academic Information System; Madrasah; Ibtidaiyah

Abstract

Widyaiswara plays an important role and determines the effectiveness of the implementation of education and training programs, so this study aims to determine the assessment of training participants on the performance of Widyaiswara in implementing learning management competencies and the constraints found during the education process in the substantive technical training in the preparation of teaching materials for Ibtidaiyah madrasah teachers. In the Ministry of Religion of the Banjar City in 2018. Researchers used a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques in this study were observation sheets, researchers' notes during the learning process and unstructured interviews. Researchers used integrative qualitative data analysis techniques between interactive models and propositions through three stages of analysis, namely data reduction, display, and conclussion/verification and carried out with a basing strategy on theoretical propositions or concept propositions of academic evaluation and widyaiswara competence in the learning process of education and training. This proposition is then used as a theoretical orientation that guides the analysis of this study. The results showed that the training participants' evaluation of the widyaiswara aspects of management of educational material = 85.6, the interaction of widyaiswara with the training participants = 85.1 was GOOD, the organization of learning = 86.7, classroom management = 89.1 and the utilization of education and training facilities = 86.1 was VERY GOOD. The average acquisition of all evaluation indicators of widyaiswara's competence in learning management has fulfilled the predicate of Very Good with a score of 86.52. The assessment of widyaiswara cannot be separated from the constraints found during the learning process, namely (1) The hours of theory and practice learning are not yet proportional, (2) Products or results of training activities, (3) Limitations of the internet network, (4) Limitations of infrastructure and the location of the training, and (5) The limited time provided in the Follow-up Action activities. Abstract

This study aims to look at experimental results in a class by conducting initial and final tests and control classes by learning in Madrasah Aliyah through SQ3R approach (Survey, Question, Read, Recite and Review) as an effort to improve mathematical understanding and connection and learning motivation student. Respondents in this study were 74 students from class XI IPS MA in the city of Bandung. The instruments used include mathematical comprehension ability tests, mathematical connection ability tests and Miotiv questionnaire learning mathematics. From the research, it was found that classes that have mathematics learning use the SQ3R approach, understanding abilities and mathematical connections are better than ordinary classes, even though the two abilities are relatively low. While the motivation to learn mathematics in the experimental class is better than the control class with moderate differences. As for other things, it turns out that there is no association between understanding abilities and mathematical connections.  Key words: Mathematical comprehension ability, mathematical connection, learning motivation, SQ3R approach.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal more about: (1) Moderate Da'wah accounts on Youtube; (2) Moderate preachers on Youtube; (3) Format of Da'wah Content on Youtube. Based on the results of data mining and analysis, several findings were obtained: (1) Three moderate da'wah accounts on Youtube are GusMus Channel with soothing content, CakNun.Com with philosophical content, and Santri Gayeng with traditional content. (2) Three moderate preachers identified on Youtube are Gus Mus with a humanist preaching approach, Cak Nun with a logical preaching approach, and Gus Baha with a millennialist approach to preaching. (3) Three formats of da'wah content on Youtube are short tausiyah format, dialogical discussion format, and lyric video format. There are two recommendations from the results of this study: (1) As a reference for preachers and Muslim content creators in conveying Islamic da'wah messages on social media, especially YouTube, to make it more universal, inclusive and moderate; (2) As a basic framework for academics, social media literacy activists, and Muslim intellectuals, including related stakeholders such as Ministry of Religion Affairs Republik Indonesia in creating and developing an ideal form of religious moderation. Keywords: Moderate Da'wah; Era of Disruption; Youtube content.

Abstract

This paper describes career development for educators through different functional promotions. School/madrasah supervisor is one functional position that can be filled by educators as a career development form or promotion. Based on the regulations study related to the requirements assessment of being a school /madrasah supervisor and professional development based on competencies that must be possessed, it can be concluded that a school/madrasah supervisor is a career path that can be achieved by active, dynamic teachers which experienced as representatives or headmaster. Abstract

The National Education World is currently trying to improve the ability of its students to think critically and creatively. One of these efforts has been pursued through evaluations that also lead to critical reflection. This research is a descriptive analysis of the final semester evaluation questions that are examined from the point of view of high-level thinking [HOTS]. The reference to the HOTS criteria is that the researcher refers to the opinions of King and his friends. From the manuscript data, the issues examined are samples from the Bandung area. The results of the analysis show that 10 out of 15 HOTS ranges proposed by King are already included in the scripts made by the teachers. On the one hand, it shows the teacher's creativity in compiling questions. On the other hand, all these questions do not refer to the HOTS criteria as planned. Therefore, there is a need to increase teachers' skills in compiling scripts as HOTS. This increase can be done through teacher training.Key words: Evaluation, HOTS, critical thinking and creativity thingking

Abstract

This research aims to improve the competence and scientific literacy of madrasah Tsanawiah and Aliyah teachers through MOOC. The Research and Development approach was carried out in training class using Software Tracker phase 1, Physics lesson. The data were collected through classroom participatory observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The subjects were online training participants consisting of madrasah teachers throughout West Java. The result shows that the achievements increased competence and scientific literacy with a very good score of 94,60% and the value of program activities 81%. This study concludes that the training can improve the competence and scientific literacy of teachers and other educational personnel, yet the completeness in all training sessions is still very low (12%). It is suggested that the training should highlight the period by considering materials and characteristic of the participants.                                      Keywords: Literacy; Madrasah Science Teachers; Massive and Open Online Learning; Competence

Abstract

This research investigated the current learning condition to support the need analysis of English materials for Islamic banking majors at vocational schools. Fifty students of Islamic banking majors and one English teacher were the participants in this study.  This study used a mixed-method research design. Researchers collected data from interviews and questionnaires. The researcher created a questionnaire based on the strengths and weaknesses of current situations reviewed from the English materials learning at Islamic banking major. This study found that the current learning condition in learning English at Islamic banking majors at SMKN 4 Lubuklinggau already used English textbooks following the 2013 curriculum, and more than half of the students are also enthusiastic about participating in English learning process. However, it does not meet the students’ and teachers’ needs in the area of learning materials. The English textbooks or materials used are not appropriate for the Islamic banking major. Keywords: Need Analysis; English Materials; Vocational School
