Abstract

Economic growth is still a measure of the success of policies made by the government. Indonesia, a developing country, needs the right policies to continue to encourage economic growth and rise from the crisis that has occurred. The economic crisis that occurred in 1998, 2008 and 2020 requires Indonesia to have the right fiscal and monetary policies to recover quickly. This study aims to analyze the effect of the impact of fiscal policy (taxes and government expenditure) and monetary policy (money supply, inflation, and exchange rate) on economic growth in Indonesia. The method used in this study is multiple linear regression with time series data from 1990 to 2020. The results of this study prove that tax revenue has a positive effect on economic growth in Indonesia. Meanwhile, government spending, inflation, money supply and exchange rates have a negative effect on economic growth in Indonesia. The implications of this study show that both monetary policy and fiscal policy should be made through in-depth study. The government must be able to increase tax revenue and spend state revenues on investment needs. Monetary policy must also be able to maintain low inflation and strengthen the exchange rate through trade and foreign exchange reserves.

This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, documentation studies, and in-depth interviews with informants. The conclusions drawn are as follows, waste management in Bima City mostly already has indicators of service quality dimensions. But there are still some indicators that have not been fulfilled, so that they become obstacles in the Waste Management Service process. Among other things, inadequate facilities and infrastructure, human resources officers in handling waste, and lack of public awareness in terms of waste. Thus, it is necessary to add supporting infrastructure, additional human resources officers and educational programs for the community related to waste problems in order to achieve quality services in Bima City by the Environmental Service.

Abstract

Agricultural extension is undeniably very important for farmers in improving rice cultivation because it provides them with the information and activities needed to increase rice productivity and farmers' food independence. This study aims to analyze the level of competence of extension workers in improving food security. The competencies possessed by extension workers in this regard consist of knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Food security in this study is examined from the aspects of availability, access, and safety quality. The research was conducted in Kuantan Singingi District, Riau Province, which has high rice production and adequate agricultural extension services for rice cultivation. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling method, resulting in fifty-eight extension workers being chosen. The Spearman Rank correlation test was used to assess the relationship between the competence of extension workers and food security in Kuantan Singingi Regency. The results reveal that all variables of the extension workers' competence (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) have a significant relationship with the food security of farmers, in terms of food availability, access, and safety quality. Extension workers indirectly play a crucial role in enhancing the food security of farmers’ households by sharing information and innovations that help improve rice production and overall household food security. Future researchers can develop sustainable, professional models and technology-based training modules to further improve the competence of extension workers.

Abstract

In today's business landscape, sustainability is paramount for long-term success and societal impact. Sustainable business practices provide myriad benefits, including cost savings, productivity enhancement, reputation improvement, and competitiveness. This research investigates the sustainable business model of Kopi Kenangan, a prominent Indonesian startup, and its impact on the company's reputation and competitiveness. Winston (2018) articulates the financial and strategic advantages of sustainability, highlighting cost savings, productivity, reputation enhancement, and global competitiveness. Unsustainable businesses, conversely, face increased operational, reputational, and regulatory risks. This research builds on these findings, examining the correlation between corporate sustainability and investor relations, as noted by Lenox & Meehan III (2014). Kopi Kenangan's journey to unicorn status exemplifies the integration of sustainable practices with business strategy. Achieving a valuation exceeding USD 1 billion, Kopi Kenangan's success underscores the significance of sustainability in attracting investment and fostering growth. Their approach includes responsible ingredient sourcing, eco-friendly packaging, and efforts to minimize environmental impact, reflecting a commitment to the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) framework of profit, people, and planet introduced by Elkington (1994). The qualitative analysis, supported by document studies and expert interviews, reveals that Kopi Kenangan's sustainable business model not only enhances financial performance but also builds strong investor relations and community trust. This research highlights the role of effective communication in fostering investor confidence and sustaining business growth. Kopi Kenangan's practices illustrate the broader benefits of sustainable business: preserving natural resources, reducing pollution, and improving community welfare. Their focus on employee well-being, local community development, and environmental stewardship sets a benchmark for startups aiming to balance profitability with social and environmental responsibility. This study concludes that sustainable business practices are essential for startups to enhance reputation, attract investment, and achieve long-term competitiveness. Kopi Kenangan's success serves as a compelling case for the strategic integration of sustainability in business operations, offering valuable insights for other startups in the F&B sector and beyond.

Abstract

Reducing losses from natural disasters is an essential component of effective recovery and resilience building. Recognizing this, the Indonesian government has allocated a dedicated budget for disaster management through the State Budget (APBN) and Regional Budget (APBD), as stipulated in Law No. 24 of 2007 concerning Disaster Management. This allocation aims to ensure that resources are available for immediate response and long-term recovery efforts. However, the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters, exacerbated by climate change, underscore the need for more substantial and adaptive financial mechanisms to address the growing demands for catastrophe funding.Funding mechanisms must extend beyond immediate needs such as emergency response and recovery. They should also encompass disaster risk transfer and mitigation initiatives, which include preventive measures, community preparedness, and investments in rehabilitation and reconstruction. Such an integrated approach not only addresses the consequences of disasters but also reduces risks and vulnerabilities over time.Individual risk insurers play a pivotal role in this framework by providing insurance solutions to help manage potential losses. In this context, the agreement between the insured and the insurer is formalized through a policy. This policy defines the insurer's obligation to cover specific risks that the insured may face in the future, in exchange for regular payments known as premiums. This system of risk transfer is a vital component of a comprehensive disaster risk management strategy, enabling both individuals and institutions to recover more swiftly from the financial impacts of disasters.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of internet usage types on the welfare of farmer households, focusing specifically on the distinction between internet use for trade and non-trade activities. Using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression analysis on data from the 2020 SUSENAS (National Socioeconomic Survey) household survey, the study examines farmer households where the head of the household has internet access. The analysis explores how different uses of the internet correlate with household well-being and economic outcomes. The findings indicate that farmer households with internet access exhibit significantly higher welfare levels compared to those without internet. Notably, farmer households using the internet for commercial purposes—such as selling and purchasing goods or services—enjoy a marked improvement in welfare compared to those who only use the internet for non-trade activities. Households that access the internet solely for activities like reading news, social media browsing, or exchanging emails tend to experience lower welfare levels relative to those engaging in trade-related online activities. This study highlights the importance of promoting digital trade literacy and enabling rural internet infrastructure to maximize the potential benefits of internet access in farming communities. By understanding how internet access types impact farmer welfare, policymakers can better support the digital transformation of rural areas, aiming to improve socioeconomic conditions through targeted interventions. This research underscores the transformative potential of internet access when harnessed for trade purposes, offering valuable insights for rural development strategies.
