Abstract

The Daarut Tauhiid Islamic Boarding School (DT) has a ongoing commitment to nurturing the community, including improving the quality of Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages for its congregation. Although Hajj rituals have been carried out routinely, in practice DT pilgrims still face various challenges, such as the complexity of Hajj and Umrah procedures, limited access to contextual and direct guidance, and communication barriers between pilgrims and guides while in the Holy Land. These conditions have the potential to reduce the comfort, tranquility, and solemnity of the pilgrims in worship. As a follow-up to previous research and community service, this study proposes the further development of a mobile application for Hajj and Umrah guidance specifically for DT pilgrims. This application retains the core features that were developed previously, such as a means of communication between pilgrims and their guides, a comprehensive collection of prayers and guidelines for performing Hajj and Umrah, as well as motivational content and reminders for worship. This year, the application was further developed with the addition of strategic features to address issues still faced by pilgrims in the field. The main additional feature proposed is a location-based SOS feature that allows pilgrims to quickly and accurately share their location with Hajj guides or officials when experiencing an emergency, such as getting lost or separated from the group. In addition, the application also features customizable prayers and worship materials based on Hajj and Umrah groups, allowing guides to tailor guidance content to the needs, schedules, and characteristics of pilgrims in each group. Through the development of this application, it is hoped that DT pilgrims will receive more personalized, responsive, and contextual guidance during their Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. This application not only serves as a technical support tool but also as a medium for continuous spiritual development. As a result, the quality of worship, sense of security, and spiritual experience of the pilgrims can significantly improve, in line with the vision of Pondok Pesantren Daarut Tauhiid in fostering a generation that excels in remembrance, reflection, and effort.   Translated with DeepL.com (free version).

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance creativity and financial management skills of small businesses among PKK women through a workshop on creative product development in the form of tote bags and basic small business financial management training. The background of this activity is the limited skills of the community in transforming simple items into products with selling value and the lack of understanding of managing business finances. The methods used include counseling, hands-on practice in making hand-drawn tote bags, and interactive discussions on basic small business financial concepts. The results show that participants were able to produce creative tote bags and gain initial understanding of product pricing potential and the importance of financial management. This activity positively impacts participants’ confidence, creativity, and entrepreneurial insight, and has potential as an initial step toward developing creativity-based small businesses within PKK communities.

Abstract

The development of digital technology requires vocational high school (SMK) students to have a professional identity that can be displayed online as part of their readiness to enter the workforce. However, many SMK students still do not understand the concept of personal branding and do not have a representative digital portfolio. This article aims to analyze the effectiveness of Community Service (PkM) activities in the form of website-based personal branding development training in improving the digital literacy and professional identity of Al-Hasra SMK students. The methods used were socialization, training, and direct mentoring, with data collection techniques through observation, pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and activity documentation. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in students' understanding of personal branding and their ability to present their potential, skills, and experience professionally through websites. It was concluded that website-based personal branding training is effective as a strategy to strengthen the digital identity and work readiness of vocational school students. These findings have implications for the development of an applicable digital literacy training model for vocational education.

Abstract

Class cash dues management in schools is still largely done manually using notebooks or simple record keeping, leading to various problems such as delays in recording, difficulties in data recapitulation, low transparency, and a high risk of recording errors and data loss. This Community Service activity aims to implement a web application for recording weekly class cash dues at SMK Cakra Nusantara Depok to improve the efficiency and transparency of class financial administration. The implementation method involved system design, application development using the Waterfall method, and direct training and mentoring for students. The results of the activity demonstrated that the web application facilitated faster, neater, and more accurate cash transaction recording and increased transparency in class cash management.

Abstract

The democratization of information through digital platforms has radically changed the system of information production and dissemination. Information that was once the product of a small group of people turned into a product produced by the masses. Anyone can make and disseminate information. This condition is a positive indicator for democracy. However, this phenomenon creates space for the emergence of complex challenges. The democratization of information that is close to liberalization has an impact in the form of a mixture of facts and opinions, between truth and hoaxes. Without adequate critical thinking skills, one will only become the object of the democratization of information. In response to these conditions, this study aims to equip new students within the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UPNVJ with critical thinking skills that include theoretical to practical aspects. The training method uses an interactive material delivery model, case studies, and group discussions. The results of the training showed a significant increase in understanding, application skills, and awareness of the importance of critical thinking in assessing information and solving social issues. This activity is expected to be the first step of intervention and mentoring for new students who are starting to enter the academic world and are open to the process of digitizing information.

Abstract

The issue of waste management in educational environment is a global challenge, including in Indonesia. A study at Al-Araaf Education Foundation Cilegon identified main problems: low student understanding of waste management and limited supporting facilities at school. As a solution, the Community Service (PkM) team of Serang Raya University implemented a School Waste Bank program using an educative-participatory approach, which included socialization, regular waste collection, and implementation of the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) principle. The results show an increase in environmental awareness and positive waste management habits. Participatory strategies such as hands-on activities, visual media, educational games, and a reward system proved effective in boosting student enthusiasm. The program successfully synergized educational, environmental, and economic aspects through the sale of inorganic waste. This model is recommended for replication in other educational institutions to support waste reduction in Cilegon City, which reaches 245 tons per day, and to achieve the national target of 30% waste reduction.

Abstract

Limited space in the MeWah culinary tourism area of ​​Tempos village, along with visitors' perceptions of natural attractions such as rice fields and mountains, has caused visitors to spread their seating area to receive culinary services up to 187.97 meters to the north and south of the focal point. These visitors sit along the rice field embankments, sidewalks, and road shoulders. This condition makes it difficult to collect waste from the culinary market activities. Based on this, a waste collection technique is needed that uses small, lightweight equipment that is easy to move to follow the position of visitors and, if possible, uses used materials to reduce the budget of culinary entrepreneurs. In this community service activity, which uses the Community-Based Research (CBR) method, used wall paint buckets were chosen as the material, so that this product is introduced as the EmAs rubbish bin for tourists and entrepreneurs of Tempos traditional culinary market. The color chosen to cover the EmAs is green because it has a close gradation with the local natural area, and because green can reduce levels of anxiety, stress, and depression. The results of the program evaluation provided recommendations that the EmAs rubbish bins require distinctive colors and motifs to add aesthetic value.

Abstract

The purpose of this community service activity was to enhance participants’ understanding of embroidery techniques and to develop elementary school students’ skills in producing embroidered products, particularly those applying the sulam tumpar technique. The activity was implemented using a workshop method that consisted of two main components, namely the delivery of material on embroidery techniques and hands-on practice in creating embroidered products. The implementation process involved several stages, including coordination with the partner institution, SDN 004 Samarinda Utara, preparation of the necessary tools and materials, and the execution of the workshop. The participants were fourth-grade students of SDN 004 Samarinda Utara. The sulam tumpar creative training was carried out as planned, as evidenced by the high level of student enthusiasm throughout the activity from beginning to end during the process of making sulam tumpar wall decorations. Furthermore, the activity received positive responses from the school community, including the principal and teachers.

Abstract

University Social Responsibility (USR) is a form of social responsibility of higher education institutions in internalizing the value of sustainability through the implementation of the Tri Dharma (Three Pillars of Understanding), particularly in the learning aspect. One form of USR implementation is strengthening the understanding of green accounting that integrates environmental and social dimensions into accounting practices. This community service activity was carried out through a participatory approach at STIE Nusantara Sangatta, involving 47 students. This activity aims to improve students' understanding of green accounting and its relevance to social responsibility. Evaluation was carried out through a pre-test and post-test mechanism to measure the effectiveness of the activity. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in student understanding after the workshop, which was marked by a shift in scores from the categories of less understanding and not understanding to the categories of understanding and very understanding. This activity emphasizes the strategic role of higher education institutions through the USR framework in developing students with social and environmental awareness as a provision for making professional decisions oriented towards sustainability.

Abstract

Competency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) 3D–based design is a vital foundation in modern vocational engineering education. However, a major challenge in practice is the lack of uniform competency standards among teaching staff, where intuitive modeling practices are often found that are not fully defined, resulting in low design data integrity. This program aims to standardize such technical competencies through intensive training based on the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) curriculum. The program was conducted entirely in an offline setting over 65 instructional hours, covering fundamental topics ranging from design intent philosophy and parametric sketching to assembly validation using standard mates. The results demonstrate a perfect quantitative outcome, with 100% of participants successfully passing the examination and obtaining the international CSWA certification. This success indicates that structured training interventions are effective in equalizing participants’ competencies. The strategic implication of this program is the establishment of a uniform teaching standard among vocational lecturers, which ultimately ensures that graduates possess digital design literacy aligned with modern industrial best practices.
