Abstract

Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu (UMB) has great potential to develop into an environmentally friendly and sustainable Green Campus. This study aims to analyze the existing conditions of the campus, identify challenges and opportunities, and formulate appropriate development strategies to create a greener campus. The research methods used include surveys, in-depth interviews, secondary data analysis, and field observations to gain a comprehensive understanding of the current situation. The findings of the study indicate that UMB faces several challenges, including the limited green open space, which only covers 15% of the total campus area, suboptimal waste management, and the low awareness of the academic community regarding environmental sustainability issues. However, there are several opportunities that can be leveraged, such as the utilization of renewable energy technologies, government policies that increasingly support environmentally friendly initiatives, and the potential for collaboration with external partners from both the private sector and government institutions. The proposed development strategy focuses on five main aspects. First, increasing the campus’s green open space to 30% of the total campus area. Second, the implementation of renewable energy, such as the installation of solar panels, to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Third, waste management based on technology to effectively recycle waste. Fourth, the application of digital-based environmental education to raise awareness among the academic community. Fifth, maximizing student participation in sustainability activities. This strategy aims to reduce carbon footprints, improve resource efficiency, and create a campus ecosystem that supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and provide recommendations regarding the arrangement of pedestrian facilities in the Campus 1 area of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. This area plays an important role as the center of academic, social, and mobility activities of the academic community, which heavily depends on pedestrian facilities. Field observations reveal several key issues with the pedestrian facilities in this area, including the sidewalk width not meeting the minimum standard, lack of accessibility features for people with disabilities, absence of vegetation or shade, and insufficient signage and road markings to guide users. These conditions result in discomfort and insecurity for pedestrians, as well as failing to support the principles of inclusivity in infrastructure planning. The research employs a descriptive qualitative and quantitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through field observations, questionnaires, interviews, and literature reviews. Based on the analysis, the majority of respondents expressed the need for improvements to the sidewalk quality, addition of shade trees, enhanced accessibility for people with disabilities, and the installation of supporting facilities such as street lighting. The study then recommends several improvement measures, such as widening the sidewalks to at least 1.5 meters, providing ramps and Guiding blocks, planting vegetation along the pedestrian routes, and installing road signs and markings. These recommendations aim to improve pedestrian comfort and safety. It is hoped that the results of this study can serve as a reference for Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu in creating a campus area that is more friendly, safe, comfortable, and inclusive for all users, while also supporting sustainable mobility.

Abstract

Electricity has become an essential need in daily life and is a primary resource that supports various economic activities. Along with the growth of the population, technological advancements, and increased investments, the demand for electricity supply is projected to continue rising. In Indonesia, PLN (Perusahaan Listrik Negara) is the main electricity provider, but it often faces challenges in meeting this demand, especially with frequent power outages that disrupt industrial and societal activities. To address this issue, many companies have turned to using generator sets (gensets) as an alternative solution to ensure a stable energy supply. Although the use of gensets provides energy independence, it requires a significant investment. Therefore, an in-depth analysis of the efficiency and economic feasibility of using gensets is necessary. This study aims to analyze the use of gensets at PT. Teladan Prima Agro Bukit Permata Mill, located in Kaubun, East Kutai, focusing on technical-economic aspects such as Present Value (PV), Future Value (FV), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Break Even Point (BEP). Data collected directly from the field includes genset specifications, electricity load, energy consumption, fuel usage, and genset operations. The analysis results indicate that the 455 KVA genset is capable of meeting the factory's electricity needs with an initial cost of IDR 649,649,996. The NPV calculation shows a value of IDR 880,380,813, with an IRR of 6.63%. The BEP is achieved in the 12th month with a profit of IDR 109,645,114. Based on these results, the operation of the genset at PT. Teladan Prima Agro Bukit Permata Mill is considered feasible and profitable in the long term.

Abstract

The Balian Bawo ritual is a healing ritual carried out by men and is believed by the Dayak community of Dusun Maanyan and Lawangan (Dusmala). In ritual processions, it is closely related to asking for help from ancestors to get healing instructions. This research aims to uncover the ritual communication contained in Balian Bawo, which is communication between ancestors and the Balian Bawo. Researchers used hermeneutical phenomenology methodology by taking 6 people as sources. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the research show that Balian Bawo ritual communication is seen in three ways, namely 1. Communication is with communicators, namely Balian and ancestors as communicants to convey messages about healing instructions through the intermediary of sowing rice which then includes dance and the sounds of bracelets as a connecting frequency amplifier; 2. Communion in the Balian Bawo Ritual in traditional medicine occurs not because of periodic activities every year, but is present when people need treatment; and 3. Common means that the local community can help the family prepare for the Balian Bawo Ritual activities and the Balian Bawo ritual procession can be followed by the local community as long as they comply with the existing regulations during the activity procession which is a form of community awareness of the existence of the Balian Bawo healing ritual.

Abstract

Communication is a fundamental aspect of human life that enables individuals to connect and interact with one another. In the context of an organization, communication plays a crucial role in building effective relationships among its members. Harold Lasswell described communication as a process that can be explained through the following questions: “who says what in which channel to whom with what effect?” This question highlights the complexity of communication within an organization, which is also relevant for study in organizations such as the Student Representative Council of Muhammadiyah University of Palangkaraya, especially in the context of significant changes that are taking place. This study aims to understand the dynamics of communication in the cadre training process between the management and members of the organization. The primary focus of the research is to explore how communication occurs between the management and members during cadre training activities. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type, along with data collection techniques involving interviews and documentation. To ensure data validity, the researcher employs triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The findings of the study show that communication in the cadre training process is divided into two categories: internal and external communication. Internal communication involves interactions between the management and members within the organization, with freedom in conveying information between leaders, managers, and members. Meanwhile, external communication focuses on the relationship between the organization and other institutions, to convey aspirations in accordance with its tasks and authority. Additionally, the cadre system in this organization combines both formal and informal training, although there are differences in how each faculty representative conducts cadre training. Overall, this organization is able to implement a more optimal cadre system, especially in preparing the core management.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has brought significant changes to various aspects of life, including how individuals interact and access information. Young people, particularly university students, are among the most affected by these changes. One phenomenon that has emerged alongside the increasing use of social media is Fear of Missing Out (FoMO)—a feeling of anxiety or worry about being left out of trends, information, or social activities experienced by others. This phenomenon not only affects individuals psychologically but also has implications for students’ consumer behavior. This study aims to analyze the influence of FoMO on students’ consumptive behavior and to identify the mediating or reinforcing factors that shape this relationship. The research employs a qualitative approach, using data collection techniques through literature review from various recent and relevant sources. The findings indicate that FoMO has a significant correlation with the rise of consumptive behavior among students, especially in the context of purchasing symbolic goods that enhance one’s self-image on social media. Key factors influencing the relationship between FoMO and consumptive behavior include the level of digitalization, social dynamics such as peer pressure, and low self-control. Furthermore, the study finds that financial literacy plays an important protective role. Students with higher levels of financial literacy tend to be more capable of managing the consumptive urges triggered by FoMO. This research contributes new insights into the psychological impact of social media on students’ economic behavior. The novelty of the study lies in its in-depth analysis of the link between FoMO and student consumer behavior in the digital era, as well as the identification of relevant mediating factors. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to serve as a foundation for developing more adaptive digital and financial literacy education programs to meet the challenges of the technological era.

Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program was developed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia as a step towards modernizing higher education and bridging the gap between the academic world and the workforce. Although it has been widely adopted in various universities, the efficiency of this program in enhancing students’ job readiness remains a key question. The aim of this research is to evaluate the implementation of the MBKM program and its impact on students’ job preparation, including both soft skills and hard skills. The background of the issue reveals a gap between higher education graduates’ competencies and the needs of the workforce, which has driven the government to initiate the MBKM policy as a solution to better prepare students for the dynamics of the labor market. The research problem focuses on the effectiveness of MBKM program implementation across various universities and how it affects students’ job readiness. Through a comprehensive literature review method, this study analyzes various scientific publications, policy reports, and evaluation studies related to MBKM from 2020 to 2024. The findings indicate that the implementation of MBKM still varies across higher education institutions with several challenges, such as infrastructure readiness, administrative systems, and stakeholder understanding. However, a positive correlation was found between student participation in the MBKM program, particularly in industry internships and collaborative projects, and improvements in adaptability, problem-solving skills, and technical competencies needed in the workforce. The novelty of this research lies in the comprehensive mapping of critical factors in the implementation of MBKM as well as the development of a sustainable evaluation framework that universities can use to enhance the effectiveness of the MBKM program in preparing graduates who are job-ready and globally competitive.

Abstract

The cognitive development of early childhood requires appropriate stimulation, one of which is through color recognition. Color block media serves as an educational tool that not only introduces various colors but also familiarizes children with geometric shapes, numerical concepts, and trains their thinking and memory skills. This study aims to implement color block media as an innovative learning method to effectively improve early childhood abilities in color recognition. Early childhood is a stage of exploration, where the learning process must be concrete, engaging, and enjoyable. Color block media combines visual and manipulative approaches that can foster curiosity and active involvement in the learning process. This learning-through-play activity encourages children to naturally identify, differentiate, and name colors. The study used a quantitative method with a pretest-posttest design to determine the effectiveness of the media. The research was conducted at KB Adduriyah 3 on October 29, 2024, and data analysis was performed using a t-test through SPSS 18 for Windows. The results showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.00. Since this value is smaller than the significance level (α = 0.05), the null hypothesis is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. The results of the study demonstrate that color block media has a significant impact on improving children's color recognition skills. Additionally, the media also enhances children's active participation in learning activities. Therefore, color block media is highly recommended as a creative and effective learning strategy for educators and parents in supporting the cognitive development of early childhood.

Abstract

Physical training periodization is a scientific approach aimed at systematically regulating training load, volume, and intensity to achieve peak performance in elite athletes while minimizing the risk of injury. This study reviews 45 scientific articles published within the last ten years, covering periodization models, physiological responses to training, and the integration of technology in athlete development processes. The findings indicate that block periodization and non-linear periodization are the two most effective approaches, shown to enhance aerobic capacity by up to 10% and muscle strength by approximately 8% in high-level athletes. Additionally, the use of monitoring technologies such as Heart Rate Variability (HRV) and Global Positioning System (GPS) contributes significantly to real-time adjustments in training programs, enabling coaches to respond more accurately to athletes’ physiological conditions and prevent overtraining. However, challenges remain in implementing these technologies in sports with limited resources and due to a lack of long-term studies on the effectiveness of technology-based periodization. These findings emphasize the importance of individualized, data-driven approaches in designing training programs that not only improve performance but also sustain athletes’ careers. By integrating classical periodization principles with modern technology, training programs can be developed to be more adaptive, precise, and contextually tailored to individual needs. In conclusion, modern, responsive periodization supported by advanced technology is a crucial element in creating elite athlete development systems that are not only globally competitive but also focused on long-term health and performance.
