Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of the peer tutoring method in improving students' academic achievement in Islamic Education (PAI) subjects, particularly in the topics of prayer and dhikr. Peer tutoring is a learning method in which more capable students help their peers who are experiencing difficulties in understanding the subject matter. This research is motivated by the low academic achievement of students, which is caused by several factors, including teacher-centered learning processes and the lack of student involvement in the teaching and learning process. These factors contribute to the low academic performance of students in SMP N 2 Tilatang Kamang, especially in class VII-2, as well as the significant number of students who have difficulty understanding the teacher's explanations. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive method to provide an in-depth description of the process and results of implementing the peer tutoring method. The study focuses on problems based on facts found in the field. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis in class VII-2 at SMP N 2 Tilatang Kamang, Kabupaten Agam. The research participants consisted of students and PAI teachers involved in the peer tutoring program. The results of the study show that the implementation of the peer tutoring method provides significant benefits in improving students' academic achievement, including enhanced understanding of the material, active engagement in the learning process, and increased self-confidence and motivation to learn. Tutors also gain improved communication and leadership skills. However, this study also identifies several challenges, such as the need for adequate training for peer tutors and continuous support from teachers. The conclusion of this research is that the peer tutoring method has great potential to improve students' academic achievement if implemented with proper support. Recommendations for more effective implementation include developing training programs for peer tutors, increasing teacher involvement, and continuous monitoring and evaluation of the learning process.

Abstract

A. Hassan encouraged efforts to perform ijtihad by referring to the Qur'an and Sunnah. Hassan's call to directly base one's views on the Qur'an and Sunnah motivated people to study the sciences related to these two sources, particularly hadith and the science of hadith. The purpose of this written work is to understand A. Hassan's approach to the study of hadith, including his research methodology as well as his critique of sanad (chain of transmission) and matan (content). The methodology used is specifically descriptive analysis, which involves studying specific objects, conditions, or phenomena and aims to provide a systematic, factual, and accurate general description. As a scholar of hadith, it is essential to study A. Hassan's thoughts, as the motto ar-ruju’ ila Qur’an wa Sunnah (returning to the Qur'an and Sunnah) cansnot be separated from his significant contributions.

Abstract

This research explores the role of Islamic economic solutions zakat, waqf, and Islamic microfinance in addressing poverty and inequality in Indonesia, a nation with a majority Muslim population and persistent socio-economic disparities. The study investigates how these faith-based financial tools contribute to poverty alleviation and social development, particularly amidst challenges such as inflation and financial system fragmentation. Positioned within the broader discourse on Islamic economics, this research evaluates the potential and limitations of these tools, offering new insights into their integration with modern financial systems. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected through surveys, interviews, and secondary analysis, focusing on the effectiveness and scalability of zakat, waqf, and Islamic microfinance. The findings reveal that while zakat provides immediate relief to 70% of recipients, its long-term impact is constrained by inflation and a lack of integration with development programs. Waqf shows potential for sustainable development, especially in education and healthcare, but suffers from underutilized assets due to inefficient management. Islamic microfinance empowers 75% of beneficiaries with increased income but faces challenges of limited loan sizes and financial literacy. The study concludes that addressing inflation, improving governance, and integrating Islamic economic tools with conventional financial systems are essential for maximizing their impact. These recommendations provide a pathway for sustainable poverty alleviation and economic empowerment in Indonesia.

Abstract

Since its establishment, Muhammadiyah has always focused on advancing education, resulting in numerous educational institutions across various levels as evidence of its dedication to enlightening the nation. However, despite its significant quantity, Muhammadiyah's quality is still considered mediocre, necessitating innovative ideas to achieve its goals. Progressive Islamic Education emerges as a solution to address the stagnation in Muhammadiyah's educational progress. This concept is Muhammadiyah's interpretation of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan's practical teachings. Progressive Islamic Education aims to shape students' personalities by integrating religious and general sciences to address real-life societal issues. This study aims to describe the concept and implementation of Progressive Islamic Education at Pondok Pesantren Muhammadiyah At-Tajdid Blora. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, the researcher directly observed and interviewed individuals involved with the concept and implementation of Progressive Islamic Education at the pesantren, while also gathering data through documentation. The study's findings reveal that Pondok Pesantren Muhammadiyah At-Tajdid Blora formulates Progressive Islamic Education into several key points: aligning objectives with Muhammadiyah's goals, integrating religious and general educational content, emphasizing positive aspects in its methods, and conducting thorough evaluations. Its implementation occurs in three phases. The first phase instills Islamic values and knowledge to shape students' character. The second phase involves experiential learning through holiday activities, such as teaching at Al-Quran learning centers. The third phase places students in the community to solve problems using their acquired knowledge and experience.

Abstract

This study examines the status of reason in Islam through the Quran and Sunnah, highlighting its pivotal contribution to development of knowledge, scientific progress, and innovation. The research aims to emphasize the esteemed status of reason in Islam while outlining its proper boundaries to avoid its misuse in matters beyond its scope, such as the unseen and miracles. It also seeks to clarify the levels of reasoning and their distinctions to prevent individuals from falling victim to superstition or blind imitation. The study addresses the misconception propagated by Islam's detractors, who claim that the faith does not value intellect, posing questions about the extent to which reason can be employed, the necessary conditions for its use, and whether there is harmony or conflict between reason and revelation. The research employs an analytical methodology, examining the Quran and Sunnah to demonstrate the role and regulations of reason in Islam. Findings reveal that Islam elevates reason, defining its fields of application and encouraging its use to explore universal laws for the purpose of civilizational development and collective advancement of knowledge and human dignity. Furthermore, the study confirms that Islam promotes critical thinking to enhance societal thought, with the history of Muslim contributions to knowledge contradicting the distorted image spread by adversaries. It asserts that Muslims were once global leaders in intellectual and scientific domains.
