Abstract

Potatoes are one of the food crops that most widely consumed as a source of energy. Processed potato foods vary greatly, one of which is fried potato sambal. The aim of this Community Service (PkM) is to provide product innovation to business owners so that they can increase the income of the owner of the fried potato sambal business. The place where this community service is carried out is at the Fried Potato Sambal Production House in Geuceu Menara Village, Jaya Baru Subdistrict, Banda Aceh. This production house usually uses red potatoes as the main raw material. In this PkM activities, potato skins, which are usually waste, will be innovated into moisturizing products for the skin. There are two types of potatoes used in this PkM activities, namely yellow potatoes and red potatoes. Both of the potatoes were peeled, those peel were extracted and then these two extracts will be used as the main ingredients in making moisturizer products. Antioxidant activity was also determined using the DPPH method. The results obtained were that the extracts of both types of potato skin had antioxidant activity with IC50 values of 5.10 (yellow potato skin) and 11.32 (red potato skin). In conclusion, yellow potato skin extract and red potato skin extract have strong antioxidant activity so that they can be used as a good moisturizer product.

Abstract

Teungoh Geunteut Village is one of the enormous patchouli cultivation centers in Aceh. The high quality of the patchouli oil produced creates great potential for the community to carry out agriculture. However, the large number of patchouli farmers in Teungoh Geunteut Village has resulted in a massive accumulation of patchouli waste thrown out from distillation using steam boilers. The patchouli waste has not yet been utilized properly, resulting in environmental problems. To overcome the uncontrolled accumulation of patchouli waste, PKM-PM teams took the initiative to utilize the patchouli waste into compost plus fertilizer. Compost plus fertilizer can overcome environmental problems and be an alternative solution to replace the undersupply of subsidized fertilizer the government provides. Producing compost plus fertilizer can be enhanced by adding bio silica from rice husk ash. Bio silica contained in rice husk ash has an important role in absorbing the nutrients plants need to initiate quality compost plus fertilizer. The service activities were carried out in August-September 2023 in Teungoh Genteut Village on one of the residents' lands. In carrying out this activity, the team carried out 3 series of stages, namely: (1) socialization on making compost plus fertilizer, (2) direct practice on making solid and liquid compost plus fertilizer, and (3) packaging compost plus fertilizer. The results achieved in this activity are solid and liquid compost fertilizer products that can be used as commercial materials to improve the economy of the Teungoh Geunteut community. Apart from that, this service activity can be used as a forum to increase residents' knowledge and understanding regarding the processing of agricultural waste into compost and techniques for marketing strategies.

Abstract

Eco-enzyme can solve the problem of waste in households and markets. Eco-enzymes can be a resource for healthy and productive cultivation of vegetables and herbs. Utilization of waste into eco-enzymes can be a new source of income and reduce costs for fertilizers and pesticides for vegetables and herbs. Eco-enzymes can be used for various purposes such as pesticides, liquid fertilizers, growth regulators (ZPT), enzymes that are beneficial for crops and the environment. The results of the analysis of pretest, posttest, and community enthusiasm for processing waste into eco-enzyme are very strong, which can be seen from the answers given by the participants after participating in the training on making eco-enzyme. Previously, in the pretest test, it could be concluded that the peoples in Lubuk Batee Village generally did not know how to make eco-enzyme and its application. Posttest after the implementation of making Eco-enzyme, the results of the response analysis from the two partners showed a significant increase in knowledge and skills in both community groups and this continued to increase after they saw the results of eco-enzyme application on crops. The introduction of eco-enzyme production in two community groups in Lubuk Batee Village, Ingin Jaya Subdistrict, Aceh Besar District has increased the knowledge and skills of partners to process waste into useful products and can reduce waste and its side effects on the environment. Eco-enzyme can also be made into various other products that are beneficial to society.

Abstract

In an endeavor to assist the Banda Aceh City Government in effective waste management, a group of lecturers and students from Syiah Kuala University (USK) has introduced an innovative waste management solution in the form of a digital-based waste collection and disposal application named e-tikbroh.yak. This application is designed to pick up pre-sorted waste from users, including individuals and communities, and then distribute the segregated waste to collectors and partners who have ordered or purchased it for various productive purposes. The distribution of this application to the community is considered essential as it streamlines the waste management process by promoting waste sorting and implementing the 3 R (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle) waste management concept, thereby fostering a conscious approach to waste management. Furthermore, e-tikbroh.yak creates new employment opportunities within the community, both as application couriers and by generating additional income through the collection of sorted waste. To expand its reach and accessibility, the e-tikbroh.yak application will soon be made available on the Play Store and web browsers for non-Android smartphone users in Banda Aceh City. Following its public introduction, a Users Acceptance Test (UAT) was conducted to ensure the effective and optimal functioning of the application system. This paper aims to elucidate two key aspects: 1) introducing e-tikbroh.yak to the community and partners, and 2) assessing the application's performance through the User Acceptance Test (UAT) procedure. The outcome of the UAT demonstrated that the people of Banda Aceh City found the application's operation to be smooth and user-friendly.
