Abstract

This study discusses the role of the church in addressing mental health issues among congregants. It begins by highlighting the growing awareness of mental health struggles within the Christian community and the broader society. Despite this growing concern, many churches remain unprepared to provide adequate pastoral care for individuals experiencing psychological distress. The paper examines theological perspectives and pastoral practices that influence the church’s response to mental health challenges. Using literature review and contextual reflection, the author explores the tension between spiritual assumptions and psychological realities. The study emphasizes the need for the church to cultivate a more empathetic and holistic approach to care. Rather than pathologizing mental illness or relegating it solely to spiritual causes, churches are encouraged to create safe, supportive spaces for healing and restoration. This paper offers a foundational framework for developing a contextual theology of mental health that is both practical and compassionate.

Abstract

The advancement of online educational platforms offers promising opportunities for improving educational access and empowerment, particularly for women in Afghanistan, where traditional barriers often limit their participation in formal education. This study aims to examine how online learning contributes to the educational attainment, skill development, and socio-economic empowerment of Afghan women, while also exploring the challenges they face in utilizing these platforms. A quantitative survey method was employed, gathering responses from 150 female students enrolled in an online university across four faculties: Medical, Computer Science, Education, and Economics. The participants, aged between 20 and 25 years, provided insights into their experiences with online education through structured questionnaires utilizing a 5-point Likert scale. Results reveal that a significant majority of participants acknowledged the positive impact of online platforms on their academic knowledge and skills. However, challenges such as limited internet access and inadequate digital devices were commonly reported, posing barriers to full participation. Furthermore, many women expressed increased confidence and empowerment from engaging in online education, with opportunities emerging for entrepreneurship and digital work. Cultural and family expectations were also identified as factors restricting the full benefits of online learning for some participants.

Abstract

The bamboo weaving crafts of the Sasak tribe are a cultural heritage rich in aesthetic and functional values, behind which lie mathematical concepts that are indirectly applied by the artisans. The purpose of this research is to explore the mathematical concepts contained in the traditional bamboo weaving crafts of the Sasak tribe in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The main focus of the research is to identify mathematical concepts in the shapes and motifs of traditional bamboo weaving crafts such as Tembolaq, Dedungki/Keben, Besek, and tampah or nyiru. This research is a qualitative study using an ethnographic method, which involves in-depth fieldwork, including direct observation of artisans during the weaving process, interviews with local craftsmen, and documentation of weaving patterns. The collected data were then analyzed descriptively to identify embedded mathematical ideas. The conclusion of this research is that the findings of mathematical concepts in the bamboo weaving of the Sasak Tribe consist of geometry and number pattern concepts. It is recommended that these mathematical elements be integrated into local mathematics education to strengthen cultural relevance and contextual learning.

Abstract

This study examines two contrasting theological approaches in modern church life, namely Prosperity Theology and Suffering Theology. Prosperity Theology emphasizes faith as a path to health, wealth, and success, while Suffering Theology sees suffering as a means of forming faith and Christlikeness. Using a qualitative method based on literature study, this study evaluates the teachings of both approaches based on biblical sources, classical and contemporary literature, and church ministry practices in Indonesia. The results of the analysis show that an imbalance in understanding these two approaches can lead to deviations in the life of faith. Therefore, an integrative theological approach is needed, which recognizes blessings and suffering as part of God's work in shaping the lives of believers. This study recommends that churches and theological educational institutions pay balanced attention to the teachings on blessings and suffering in order to produce healthy and contextual ministries.

Abstract

Character education is a very important aspect in the educational process, especially in the context of Christian Religious Education. Christian Religious Education not only aims to provide knowledge about religious teachings, but also to shape the character of students in accordance with noble Christian values. Values such as love, honesty, simplicity, and a sense of responsibility are the basis for building good character and can be applied in everyday life. Therefore, teaching Christian Religious Education needs to integrate moral and ethical learning in every teaching material. In this study, the role of Christian Religious Education in shaping the character of students is discussed, as well as strategies that can be applied in character education based on Christian teachings. Christian religious education not only teaches the teachings of the Christian faith, but also educates students to develop characters in accordance with the teachings of the Bible. The concept of character education involves teaching about love, honesty, humility, hard work, and mutual respect. Through the integration of Christian teachings and moral values taught in the educational process, it is hoped that students can build attitudes and behaviors that reflect a strong Christian identity. In this context, educators act as role models who provide a positive influence on the development of students' character. Thus, character education in Christian religious education becomes an important foundation in forming individuals who are not only intellectually intelligent, but also emotionally and spiritually mature, and able to contribute positively to society.

Abstract

Culture is a part of everyday life that can be used as a learning resource, including in mathematics education. This approach is known as ethnomathematics. Each region has its own unique cultural heritage, such as Banyumulek Village, which is known for its traditional pottery that has been passed down through generations. The purpose of this study is to identify the concepts of geometric mathematics found in the pottery craft of Banyumulek Village so that they can be used as learning resources in mathematics education. This research uses qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. This research was conducted in Banyumulek Village, Kediri District, West Lombok, NTB. The results showed that in pottery (glass, ball, cobek, plate, jug, and momolo) there is a concept of mathematical geometry in some of the pottery, namely: curved surface solids, polyhedrons, and flat geometry. The concept of flat circular geometry is found on the plate, and cobek, while the tube shape is found in the glass. Ethnomathematics can help students understand everyday problems more easily.
