Abstract

Sexuality and marriage are two important aspects of human life that have a deep spiritual dimension in the context of Christian faith. However, social, cultural, and technological developments in the modern era have presented various issues that challenge the church's traditional views on these two things, such as free sex, same-sex marriage, divorce, and interfaith marriage. This study aims to examine theologically and pastorally the Christian view of sexuality and marriage based on the Bible, and to identify the church's response to contemporary dynamics and challenges. The research was conducted using a literature study method and a contextual hermeneutic approach, and considered interdisciplinary perspectives from the fields of sociology and psychology. The results of the study indicate that the church needs to formulate an approach based on love and biblical truth in dealing with modern issues, as well as strengthen pastoral care and faith education in Christian families. Thus, a deep and relevant understanding of faith can be the basis for guiding people to live a holy sexual and marital life in the midst of a changing world.

Abstract

This article discusses how the use of digital technology can enhance the effectiveness of pastoral supervision within the church, particularly in the context of modern pastoral ministry. As the digital era continues to evolve, the need for an adaptive approach to shepherding has become increasingly urgent. Traditional methods of pastoral supervision are now shifting toward digital engagement through platforms such as WhatsApp, Zoom, Google Meet, and other online communication tools. This study employs a qualitative method with a literature review and interview approach, aiming to explore a deeper understanding of technology-based pastoral supervision practices in today’s church context. Data was collected through the review of relevant literature and supported by interviews with pastors from various regions. This approach enables the researcher to analyze the phenomenon holistically and contextually, taking into account the dynamics of ministry as well as the geographical and digital challenges faced by the church. The findings indicate that technology serves not merely as a technical tool but holds transformational potential in nurturing and supervising the spiritual growth of congregants. These insights are reinforced by the experiences of pastors who have successfully integrated digital media into their ministry practices in creative and contextual ways. This article offers an innovative contribution in the form of a proposed model for technology-based pastoral supervision that remains grounded in spiritual values, pastoral intimacy, and relevance to contemporary developments. The approach demonstrates that when used wisely, technology can strengthen ministry without diminishing the spiritual connection between pastors and their congregations.

Abstract

In the development of digital technology today, it has positive and negative impacts on all aspects of human life in the modern era, including in terms of the development of basic understanding of theology related to faith. Easy access to various information including understanding theology is felt as one form of positive impact but is also followed by negative impacts. In the midst of such a phenomenon, today's churches that still have the standard of teaching the word of God based on the traditions of the early Church and the testimony of the apostles' faith face a new, quite serious challenge, namely the widespread spread of teachings about liberal theology which has a bad and negative impact on the growth of the congregation's faith. Liberal theology is an approach in Christian theology that seeks to adapt religious teachings to the development of modern thought, including rationalism, historical criticism, and science. This approach emphasizes the importance of personal experience and reason in understanding the Christian faith, often reinterpreting traditional doctrines to suit the context of the times. For example, doctrines such as the virgin birth, the physical resurrection of Jesus, and miracles are often interpreted symbolically or allegorically in liberal theology.

Abstract

This article discusses the important role of pastors in improving the quality of church services in the digital era, especially through good supervision and the use of technology such as artificial intelligence (AI). Amidst the challenges of the 21st century, pastors not only deliver the word of God, but must also be able to lead and manage the church relevantly and effectively. This study uses a literature study method with a qualitative approach, to see how pastors can adjust their supervision methods to the changing times. The results show that pastors have two main roles: as spiritual leaders and also as organizational managers. They need to have leadership skills, conflict management, staff development, and the ability to adapt to technology. The use of AI can help more appropriate supervision, for example in understanding the needs of the congregation, composing sermons, and fostering the congregation more personally. However, AI cannot replace human relationships and the empathetic presence of pastors. In addition, the use of AI also faces challenges such as rejection from some church leaders and the need for training. This article offers strategies so that pastors can combine technology wisely without abandoning spiritual values, so that church services remain strong, relevant, and touch the lives of the congregation in this digital era.

Abstract

Pastoral care and teaching represent the two central pillars of a pastor's calling, forming the theological and practical foundation of congregational spiritual life. In the context of the Pentecostal Church in Indonesia (Gereja Pantekosta di Indonesia – GPdI), these responsibilities are carried out within an autonomous church structure, allowing each local congregation to define its own vision and ministry strategy. However, this autonomy presents challenges, particularly the absence of a standardized and structured supervisory system. The situation is further complicated by the economic realities faced by many pastors, who often serve bi-vocationally, and the diversity in educational and denominational backgrounds among them. This study explores the implementation of pastoral supervision within local GPdI churches and its impact on the effectiveness of pastors in their roles. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through literature review, document analysis, and interviews with active pastors, including those from non-GPdI backgrounds. The findings indicate that pastoral supervision is mostly informal, relational, and lacks structural support, often occurring only in response to crises. The study highlights the need for a holistic, context-sensitive supervisory model that emphasizes mentoring, theological enrichment, and cross-regional support. Such a model is essential for equipping GPdI pastors to serve effectively as shepherds and teachers amid contemporary ministry challenges.

Abstract

Effective ministry in the church is highly dependent on the spirit and dedication of the servants. However, in practice, many servants experience boredom, loss of motivation, and lack of direction in ministry. This study aims to examine the role of ministry supervision as a strategic tool in increasing the spirit of ministry of servants in the church environment. Through a qualitative approach with literature studies and contextual observations, it is discussed that supervision carried out with a nurturing, communicative, and empowering leadership approach can revive enthusiasm, responsibility, and commitment to ministry. Supervision is not just administrative supervision, but a pastoral action that touches on the spiritual and emotional aspects of the servant. The results of the study show that effective supervision plays a role in forming a healthy and sustainable ministry culture, as well as increasing awareness of the divine calling in every act of service. This study recommends a dialogical, reflective, and participatory supervision model as a strategic step in fostering faithful and enthusiastic servants.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of macroeconomic fundamentals, company growth, and capital structure on stock returns, considering dividend policies and financial performance, with a focus on the consumer non-cyclicals sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2021 to 2024. Using quantitative methods, the research employs data from five consumer non-cyclicals companies, analyzed through Smart PLS 4 software. The findings reveal that macroeconomic fundamentals, such as inflation, GDP, and exchange rates, significantly affect stock returns but do not significantly influence dividend policies or financial performance. Company growth, measured by total asset turnover, has a significant negative effect on dividend policies, while it positively influences financial performance, especially Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE), and negatively affects stock returns. The capital structure, represented by the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), does not show a significant impact on dividend policies, financial performance, or stock returns. Additionally, financial performance, particularly ROA and ROE, has a significant positive effect on stock returns. This research provides valuable insights for investors and company management in making informed decisions within the consumer non-cyclicals sector. Future studies could explore other sectors and extend the research period for broader applicability.
