Abstract

Introduction: Patient safety culture is an indicator of service quality and a system that makes patient care safer. The leadership style of the head of the ward is one factor that influences the implementation of a patient safety culture. Indonesia is still struggling to improve the quality of healthcare services by enhancing the patient safety culture among care professionals, including nurses. This study aims to examine the influence of the Head of Room's transactional and transformational leadership style on the implementation of a patient safety culture in the Regional Public Service Agency, Benyamin Guluh Hospital, Kolaka Regency. Method: Qantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was used, this study took place during July 2024. Involving 140 respondents, consisting of team leaders and nurses working in inpatient care. Result: The positive influence of transformational leadership style (0.332 (positive direction), T statistic 2.665 and p-value 0.008) and laizzes faire (0.309 (positive direction), T statistic 2.828 and p-value 0.005) in the implementation of patient safety culture. Conclusion: This study emphasizes the importance of a ward head's leadership style that supports a patient safety culture, particularly in reporting individual performance indicators and implementing employee work targets. It is recommended that hospitals improve the implementation of a patient safety culture by conducting continuous patient safety rounds, supervising, monitoring, and evaluating the implementation of individual performance indicators, and encouraging staff to report.

Abstract

Introduction: Occupational accidents among farmers and plantation workers in Indonesia, including white copra workers in Toari District, Kolaka Regency, are a serious problem with high risks due to exposure to hazardous chemicals, the use of machinery, and unsafe working conditions. Although occupational health and safety are very important, they are often neglected, resulting in high rates of accidents, injuries, and illnesses, and negatively impacting worker health and productivity. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of health promotion using leaflet media in increasing knowledge, attitudes, and actions regarding occupational health and safety among white copra workers in the Toari District, Kolaka Regency. Method: Quantitative research using a pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach on two groups of randomly selected subjects totaling 40 respondents using a cluster random sampling technique. Result: This study demonstrated that video media was more effective than leaflets in improving the knowledge, attitudes, and preventive actions of white copra workers. Measurements were conducted before and after the intervention to evaluate changes in occupational health and safety behavior. Conclusion: Leaflets can improve the knowledge, attitudes, and preventive measures of white coconut workers in Toari District. It is recommended that the Health Department provide training to health workers and encourage workers to actively participate in health promotion.

The population was all 44 fishermen experiencing decompression in Soropia District, and a sample of 44 people was taken using total sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and tested using chi-square tests, correlation tests, and binary logistic regression. Result: Based on the Chi-Square test of knowledge (p value 0.011 and closeness ⱷ 0.421), health information (p value 0.001 and closeness ⱷ (0.553), facilities (p value 0.005 and closeness ⱷ 0.553). Conclusion: There is a moderate relationship between information sources and facilities and the use of health services in decompression patients.

Abstract

Introduction: Health issues in Indonesia, particularly in Kolaka and East Kolaka Regencies, still face significant challenges in improving access to quality healthcare services. Community Health Centers, as primary health care facilities, rely heavily on Health Operational Assistance Funds for their operations. However, Health Operational Assistance budget realization shows significant variation between the two regencies, caused by factors such as budget management, human resource capacity, and infrastructure challenges. This study aims to analyze Linking Planning and Implementation with the Realization of the Health Operational Assistance Budget in Kolaka and East Kolaka. Method: This research is quantitative and uses a cross-sectional study design. It was conducted in all community health centers within the jurisdiction of the Kolaka and East Kolaka District Health Offices. The population comprised 72 Health center employees involved in policy-making and budget management, resulting in a sample size of 70. The sample size was calculated using the Lameslow formula. Result: This indicates that planning has a strong relationship with the realization of Health Operational Assistance funds, with Pearson Chi-Square values of 20.822 and 15.892, respectively, and a significance of 0.000. Meanwhile, implementation shows a moderately significant relationship with a Pearson Chi-Square value of 15.892 and a significance of 0.000. Conclusion: Planning has a strong relationship with the realization of the Health Operational Assistance budget in Kolaka and East Kolaka Regencies, while implementation has a moderate relationship. The effectiveness of Health Operational Assistance fund use is most influenced by sound planning and guidance.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a serious medical condition that can lead to various health complications and can be significantly prevented through regular blood pressure monitoring. The monthly trend of hypertension in the five districts with the highest number of hypertension cases in Kolaka Regency prompted researchers to conduct a study on the analysis of the relationship between susceptibility and seriousness of hypertension control measures and compliance with routine health checks (blood pressure checks). Method: The type of research used is quantitative research with an analytical observation method and a Partial Least Squares (PLS) research design. The population was 570 people and the sample was 235 people using Sampling (area sampling) in the sampling. Result: The vulnerability is 0.326 (positive direction), the T statistic is 3.655, and the p-value is 0.000. The severity is -0.672 (negative direction), the T statistic is 5.189, and the p-value is 0.000. The test results show that the p-value is <0.05. Conclusion: Vulnerability and seriousness are related to hypertension control measures with compliance with routine health checks (blood pressure checks).

Abstract

Introduction: The initial survey conducted on 10 people in the Tanggetada Community Health Center Working Area stated that of the 10 people, 3 of their children suffered from ARI due to poor ventilation, exposure to cigarette smoke, and 3 people said the cause was dense housing and 3 people said their children had not been immunized. Based on this, the researcher wanted to examine the relationship between smoking habits in the home and cooking fuel with ARI in the Regional Technical Implementation Unit Working area of the Tanggetada Watubangga Community Health Center, Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. Method: This quantitative research, using a cross-sectional study approach, was conducted in the districts of Southeast Sulawesi Province. The population was 822 toddlers and the sample size was 90, determined using the Slovin formula. Result: The chi square statistical test on smoking habits with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05) shows that the value indicates that the X2count value = 7.813 > X2table value = 3.841 and on Fuel with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05) shows that the value indicates that the X2count value = 10.944 > X2table value = 3.841, which means there is a relationship between cooking fuel and the incidence of ARI.  Conclusion: There is a weak relationship between smoking habits and fuel and the incidence of ARI in the working areas of Tanggetada Health Center and Watubangga Health Center.
