Journal of Community Service and Society Empowerment (JCSSE) accepts articles on community service results in the fields of development, empowerment, community strengthening, and the results of activities or practical implementations of community service, empowerment, or strengthening that are problem-solving, comprehensive, meaningful, and sustainable, with clear goals. Various community services and empowerment activities must have novelty (have innovation and creativity) so that they do not just replicate the same activities in different places, have measurable results and impacts on society, and support the achievement of the goals set out in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a global action plan agreed upon by world leaders to end poverty, reduce inequality, and protect the environment. The SDGs contain 17 Goals and 169 Targets, so each article must be linked to these goals and targets (as stated in the contribution statement). Therefore, JCSSE accepts articles from Indonesian authors and other countries that have not been offered for publication elsewhere.

Abstract

The lack of interest of the easy generation in the agricultural sector where the majority of the younger generation prefers to work in offices and industries is now an important issue that must be a common concern to support the national food security program. This issue underlies the birth of the PKM theme, namely Urban Farming Agricultural Education with Fun Learning for Early Childhood at the Elementary School level. Implementation methods, observation and socialization, implementation of hydroponic plant cultivation, library revitalization, evaluation of results and outputs. The results of activities, being able to increase children's understanding of agriculture have the potential to foster interest in the agricultural sector, the implications of this habit can develop after they grow up to contribute to improving national food security. Library revitalization activities are also useful in an effort to increase students' reading interest and reading culture. Long-term output, the future young generation will be created as diligent and disciplined human resources, highly talented, have extensive knowledge with critical thinking, have a variety of relevant competencies needed according to the demands of the times, so that they can be absorbed by various industries in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) towards the era of society 5.0 in welcoming the 21st century which is required by technological advances that are thick with the era of change.

Abstract

The objectives of this activity are: 1) To increase catch results and reduce operational costs through the implementation of fishing technology tools. 2) To enhance the capabilities of Pole and Line fishermen in using fishing tools such as GPS, Fish Finder, and the ability to independently read fishing catch maps. The method used in the implementation of Science and Technology for Society (IbM) activities is Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), which involves the community in the activities. The implementation of this activity includes counseling, training, demonstrations, and evaluations to assess the program's effectiveness, ensuring efficient socialization of the program. The implementation method involves applying and utilizing fishing tools (GPS, Fish Finder) for Pole and Line fishermen to determine fishing areas and capture fish according to the information on the fishing catch map issued by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia. The results of this activity include the dissemination of information on the use of fishing technology tools, training in reading maps of potential fishing zones, and assistance in using the fish finder through counseling, direct practice, and interactive discussions to uncover issues and solutions that can be addressed by partners. In conclusion, the outcomes of the activity are: 1) Increased catch results and reduced operational costs through the implementation of fishing technology tools. 2) The desire and ability of Pole and Line fishermen to use fishing tools such as GPS, Fish Finder, and independently read fishing catch maps, subsequently inputting this information into the fishing tools

Abstract

The main focus of this research is community empowerment in Tiong Keranjik Village, Belimbing Hulu subdistrict, Melawi district, West Kalimantan through the food security program. The aim of this research is to analyze the impact and success factors of the community empowerment program in the context of the development of the Tiong Keranjik village. The research method used included document analysis to obtain a comprehensive picture of the implementation of community development programs through empowerment. This research shows that making village communities independent (empowered) through food security programs has a very positive impact. With adequate resources, and better market access, local farmers can increase their productivity and income. Apart from that, the action program also strengthens human capacity to utilize natural products continuously by emphasizing environmentally friendly agricultural practices. However, the study identified several challenges facing local farmers, such as climate change, which can affect crop yields and market fluctuations. In addition, local social and economic factors influence the sustainability of empowerment programs. Therefore, it is recommended to improve coordination between institutions, strengthen support policies and actively involve the community in design and decision-making activities. This research makes a significant contribution to our understanding of village community empowerment in the context of Tiong Keranjik village, Melawi district. It is hoped that the policy implications of this research can help design more sustainable empowerment strategies, especially to increase community food security against external and internal challenges in the development of Tiong Keranjik village, West Kalimantan.

Abstract

Community empowerment in managing tourist attractions in Stock Village, Sengah Temila District, Landak Regency. One of the famous tourist attractions is Betang Panjang Stock and is known as a traditional Dayak Kanayant traditional house. In this house there are people selling handicrafts typical of the Dayak Kanayant tribe such as woven bags and hats, miniature longhouses and carved shields. However, currently sales are not running due to the lack of human resources who make these crafts. In this case, the importance of community empowerment by the government is to increase community participation in managing tourist attractions so that they continue to exist and become an attraction for visitors. The main aim of the research is to analyze community empowerment efforts in managing the potential of local tourist attractions. This research uses a data collection method, namely by reviewing journals, news, books, statutory regulations and other documents. The research results show that community empowerment is a key factor in optimizing tourism potential in Stock Village. Various training and coaching programs have been implemented to improve community skills and knowledge regarding tourism destination management. Apart from that, the existence of partnerships between local governments, non-governmental organizations and local business actors also supports the effectiveness of empowerment.

Abstract

In the current of the world of education, techers are required to follow technological developments that are able to make students develop and have character. Teachers can create quality learning media using ICT. One of the actifivities that can increase creative and innovative elementary school teachers is throgh the implementation of ICT, by participating in webinar activities which are carried out via webinars. The aim of this webinar is to form teachers ang prospective teachers to become innovative and creative teachers through the implementation of ICT.

Abstract

The collaborative efforts involving the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Indonesian National Police (POLRI), government, and the local community in managing floods in Pekanbaru, Indonesia have been ongoing for an extensive period. These efforts require sustained attention, particularly during the prevailing rainy conditions. The military campaign approach comprises a series of joint operations executed to achieve strategic and operational objectives within specific spatial and temporal constraints. This military campaign involves Military Operations for War (MOW) and Military Operations Other Than War (MOOTW). The objective of this study was to describe and analyze the synergy among the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Indonesian National Police (POLRI), the government, and the local community in addressing floods in Pekanbaru through a military campaign strategy. This strategy involved TNI units with distinct branches and functions. The approach undertaken by the TNI (specifically those from KODIM 031 Pekanbaru) in flood disaster relief operations included collaboration with the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Pekanbaru to mobilize all available TNI and POLRI forces within the vicinity of Pekanbaru. This collaborative effort involved various stakeholders, such as TNI, POLRI, the government, NGOs, youth organizations (Karang Taruna), and other relevant entities. These activities took place in the East Labuh Baru, Payung Sekaki District, particularly along Arjuna Street. This effort is expected to establish an effective synergy among these groups, foster closer ties with the community, and manage floods by addressing issues related to drainage systems, canals, and overgrown vegetation.

Abstract

Information technology training was carried out at UPTD SMP Negeri 3 Towuti, Towuti sub-district, East Luwu district, South Sulawesi province. The training was carried out for two days, namely from Friday to Saturday, precisely on 27 - 28 October 2023. The implementation of this activity was carried out using the DIA method. This method was chosen because it is considered quite effective in a teaching and learning process, considering that the participants in this activity are people who are adults in terms of reasoning, thinking and acting. DIA is an abbreviation for Delivery, Interaction, Assessment. Based on the activity evaluation, the results showed that 100% of the 24 teaching staff gained knowledge, 100% of the teaching staff thought that IT training was very useful and they hoped that the training would continue at another time.

Abstract

UMKM are the dominating business sector in Indonesia, but the marketing carried out is still not optimal to market their business. The existence of social media can increase the potential to get public interest in getting to know UMKM. The community service team helped and assisted Bubur Ayam Spesial Keluarga Pak Beng for social media creation, including Instagram, Linktree, and Tiktok as an effort to increase public interest in Bubur Ayam Spesial Keluarga Pak Beng. The results of creating social media and its content increase public interest, as well as marketing to Bubur Ayam Pak Beng.

Abstract

Waste or also known as rubbish is a problem that is quite complex for the government to handle, especially household waste which is never separated from the use of inorganic or organic materials every day. In maintaining a clean and comfortable environment, especially in the city, especially in Balikpapan, existing waste is separated at disposal. By referring to green environment principles, it is hoped that people will not throw rubbish or waste carelessly or at certain times. Referring to the problem of handling waste made from glass, in this case glass bottle waste, this article examines the use of glass bottle waste to increase family creativity which has economic value. The aim of writing community service is to: 1) Increase the community's sense of awareness in efforts to handle solid waste, in this case glass material waste. 2) Can provide information to the public about how to recycle glass waste. The type of method used is qualitative, document study and narrative in nature. There are various ways of recycling, in the study of community service writing it is how to disseminate useful information to society at the lowest level, namely households. Where waste management can begin to be implemented in the home and family environment, this can of course also be a motivation and build creativity in the skilled hands of children at home. where they can be given an understanding of how to create a clean and comfortable living environment, as well as foster creativity that creates added value that is beneficial from an economic perspective. Treatment for waste management starts from the smallest line, namely the family or household. The application of the go green concept with 3R can be applied in households in waste management, one of which is inorganic waste, namely glass bottles.
