Abstract

Market anomalies are unanticipated events that provide investors with opportunities to achieve abnormal returns. The January Effect and Monday Effect are two seasonal anomalies often exploited by investors to gain abnormal returns in the capital market. This study aims to investigate the impact of the January Effect and the Monday Effect on abnormal returns and trading volumes on Mondays and in the months before and after January for LQ45 stocks on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) from 2019 to 2023. The study population consists of 63 issuers, with a sample of 25 selected through purposive sampling. The analysis uses the Paired Sample T-test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, and One-Sample Test processed with SPSS software. The analysis reveals that the January Effect causes abnormal returns in 2019, 2020, and 2021, but not in 2022 and 2023. Trading volume showed no significant differences during the observation period. For the Monday Effect, significant average abnormal returns are observed on Mondays in 2020, 2021, and 2023, but not in 2019 and 2022. Trading volume on Mondays also shows significant differences across the observation period. These findings suggest that investors should consider market anomalies when making investment decisions.

Abstract

Taxpayer compliance is a form of taxpayer behavior that complies with its obligations to report taxes in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. Based on data from the Pratama Gianyar Tax Service Office (KPP), taxpayer compliance in 2019-2023 was at the highest, only reaching 80 percent in 2020. This supports the statement from the Ministry of Finance staff which stated that the realization of taxpayer compliance in Indonesia was less than 85 percent. percent. The lack of public awareness in reporting taxes is thought to be due to a lack of knowledge regarding mechanisms, tax reporting procedures and tax benefits. There are several factors that can influence taxpayer compliance, including tax knowledge, service quality and tax sanctions. This research aims to obtain empirical evidence regarding the influence of tax knowledge, tax service quality and tax sanctions on taxpayer compliance with tax socialization as a moderating variable at KPP Pratama Gianyar. This research uses an associative quantitative approach with data collection methods through distributing questionnaires. The population in this research is all WPOP at KPP Pratama Gianyar totaling 328,707 taxpayers. The sample for this research consisted of 100 respondents who were calculated using the Slovin formula with the accidental sampling method. The analysis technique used is moderating regression analysis. The research results show that knowledge of taxation and tax sanctions have a positive effect on taxpayer compliance, but service quality has no effect on taxpayer compliance. The results of the moderation regression analysis show that tax socialization does not strengthen the influence of tax knowledge and tax sanctions and tax socialization increases the influence of tax service quality on taxpayer compliance.

Abstract

Criteria assessment and risk measurement are key elements in an effective investment decision-making process. These two aspects complement each other and provide a strong foundation for making rational, balanced investment decisions that are in line with the company's strategic objectives. Investment criteria assessment includes factors such as potential returns, liquidity, duration, and alignment with the company's strategic objectives. Criteria assessment provides a strong basis for evaluating the feasibility of an investment, while risk measurement ensures that the risks taken can be managed in accordance with the company's risk tolerance. The combination of these two approaches allows companies to make more rational, balanced investment decisions that support sustainable growth. Effective implementation of criteria assessment and risk measurement has a positive impact on financial performance, increasing return on investment, maintaining financial stability, and strengthening stakeholder trust. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the importance of criteria assessment and risk measurement in investment decision-making, as well as providing practical guidance for companies in improving the quality of their investment decisions amidst the ever-evolving market dynamics.
