Abstract

The weak character of students in terms of discipline, responsibility, and empathy is one of the main challenges in education today. The government responded to this problem through SEB No. 1 of 2025 which emphasizes the importance of strengthening character in the school environment through planned and sustainable activities. This study aims to describe the practice of holistic student management at SMP Muhammadiyah 7 Colomadu, analyze its role in shaping student character, and identify obstacles and opportunities for its implementation. The study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The main informant was the Vice Principal for Student Affairs. The results of the study showed that the school implemented comprehensive student management, from planning, organizing, to program evaluation. Activities such as Dhuha prayer, coding, debate, and cadre formation through IPM contributed to shaping the values of religiosity, leadership, discipline, and social responsibility of students. The main obstacles came from the negative influence of the external environment and lack of family involvement, while opportunities were supported by a strong school culture and the active role of students and parents. This study concludes that holistic student management plays a significant role in shaping student character and can be used as a model for implementing sustainable character education

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital-based assessment in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) within the framework of the Merdeka Curriculum at SMP Negeri 2 Ngemplak. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with PAI teachers, and supporting documentation. The research explores how digital tools are integrated into the assessment process and how these methods align with the principles of the Merdeka Curriculum, which emphasizes holistic, student-centered learning and character development. The findings reveal that PAI teachers at SMP Negeri 2 Ngemplak have adopted a comprehensive assessment strategy that addresses cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. The evaluation process follows systematic stages: planning, implementation, data processing, interpretation, and reporting. Digital tools, particularly Google Forms and Quizizz, are utilized as primary instruments for formative and summative assessments. These tools enable efficient question delivery, automatic grading, real-time feedback, and secure data storage, enhancing the overall evaluation process. However, the integration of digital assessment is not without challenges. Issues such as limited access to devices, unstable internet connectivity, and the need for increased digital literacy among students and teachers have been identified as significant barriers. Despite these obstacles, the study demonstrates a progressive shift toward digital transformation in educational assessment, even within Islamic education subjects. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on the application of educational technology in religious instruction and provides practical insights for educators and policymakers aiming to enhance assessment practices in line with the goals of the Merdeka Curriculum. The findings suggest that with adequate support and infrastructure, digital assessment can serve as an effective tool for evaluating diverse student competencies in Islamic Education.

Abstract

This research analyzes the quality of instruments and the effectiveness of summative evaluation implementation in tahfizh education at MTs Al-Fatah Boyolali. This research uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. In collecting data, researchers used observation, interview, and documentation methods. The research results showed that the oral assessment rubric, which includes memorization fluency (40%), tajweed and makhraj (40%), and time accuracy (10%), is valid for measuring memorization, but does not include understanding the meaning of the verse due to the design of the tahfizh program which focuses on memorization. Time limitations, especially in the randomized test (mubādarah) which covers 70% of the evaluation, affect the accuracy of the assessment. The implementation of summative evaluation is effective in measuring students discipline, supported by graduation motivation, with an average score of 75 (odd semester) and 80 (even semester) for 75 students. The distribution of even semester grades showed 20 students scored A (91-100), 30 students scored B (81-90), 20 students scored C (71-80), and 5 students scored D (<70), with 27 passing and 3 not passing out of 30 students. Implementation constraints include student anxiety, stress-induced thrush, and teacher or student absenteeism. This research recommends the addition of meaning comprehension assessment, better time management, and psychological support to improve the effectiveness of tahfizh evaluation.

Abstract

Female students' involvement in campus organizations often poses a challenge in maintaining a balance between academic and non-academic activities. On the other hand, campus organizations also have great potential in developing soft skills that support learning. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implications of female students' involvement in campus organizations on classroom learning quality, particularly at STIT Madani Yogyakarta. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with organization leaders, academic advisors, and female students involved in the organization, supported by observations. The results of the study indicate that involvement in organizations has a positive impact on learning productivity, self-confidence, soft skills (communication, leadership, and time management), and increased self-confidence. However, role imbalance also causes stress, fatigue, and a decline in academic focus. Time management skills, environmental support, and self-awareness are some of the components that influence the balance between academic and organizational activities. The use of time management applications, setting priorities, daily planning, and selecting organizational activities aligned with personal principles are some strategies employed by female students. This study suggests that organizational involvement can be an effective learning tool when implemented with suitable strategies.

Abstract

This study investigates the global development of Islamic character education research using a bibliometric approach. The objective is to analyze publication trends, influential authors, journals, countries, and thematic directions between 2014 and 2025. The study adopts a quantitative bibliometric design to identify patterns and knowledge structures within the scope of Islamic character studies. Data were systematically collected from the Scopus database using the keyword “Islamic AND character” limited to English-language articles within the social sciences. A total of 200 eligible documents were selected through purposive sampling. The data were processed and analyzed using Biblioshiny and Bibliometrix tools to evaluate co-authorship networks, keyword co-occurrences, and citation impact. Results show a significant growth in publications after 2018, peaking in 2024. Indonesia emerged as the leading contributor, followed by the United States and Malaysia. Thematic analysis revealed that the dominant focus areas include Islamic education, moral development, and character formation in Islamic contexts. The most influential journals and authors predominantly come from Southeast Asia, indicating regional leadership in this field. The study concludes that bibliometric analysis offers valuable insights into the intellectual landscape of Islamic character education and highlights gaps in addressing contemporary issues such as digital ethics and global collaboration. These findings provide practical input for policy makers, curriculum developers, and future researchers to build data-driven strategies for character education rooted in Islamic values.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the role of ilqā’ al-mufradāt activities in improving students' ability to communicate in Arabic within the university environment. One method of learning vocabulary is through ilqā’ al-mufradāt, which involves introducing new vocabulary, collective pronunciation, transcription, repetition, memorization, and sentence construction (jumlah mufīdah). This study employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through documentation and interviews. The results show that ilqā’ al-mufradāt plays an important role in enhancing vocabulary mastery at the cognitive level, which serves as the foundation for developing speaking skills. Students find it easier to recognize and remember new vocabulary and begin to get used to forming simple sentences. However, vocabulary acquisition alone has not directly improved speaking fluency. The study suggests the need for more communicative, interactive, and contextual teaching methods. Identified obstacles include limited contextual application, a learning environment that does not fully support active Arabic practice, and students’ low confidence in using the language.
