Abstract

This research is motivated by the main problem in this thesis is the unavailability of the Chemistry Practicum Module at SMAN 2 Padang Panjang. The purpose of this research is to find out the validity and practicality of the development of POE-based chemical practicum modules (Predict-Observe-Explain) in order to help learners in implementing of the practicum process implemented at SMAN 2 Padang Panjang to manifest learning in the form of practicum runs smoothly and has clear guidelines. The research method that used by the researcher is a research and development method by developing a 4-D Learning Model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). But in this study only reached the stage of development (develop) due to time constraints. Product eligibility is done by validating the validator. Then, the researcher conducted practicality tests on learners in class X Mipa I SMAN 2 Padang Panjang. Based on the results of product validation, a percentage of 87.97% was obtained with very valid criteria, and the practical percentage of POE-based Chemical Practicum Module (Predict-Observe-Explain) as seen from the results of the student questionnaire of 86.23%.Keywords : Practicum, POE, Electrolyte and Non-Electrolyte

Abstract

AbstractGrowth and development in the industrial sector has made residents contribute to the waste that enters the environment. Imperfect waste treatment causes pollution to the environment and waters, so the water quality has decreased. The decline in water quality is caused by water pollution where foreign substances enter and leave. One of them is heavy metal. A number of studies have been carried out to treat and remove heavy metal ions in waters, one of which is the adsorption process. The adsorption method usually utilizes waste that is often disposed of and even modifications or activations are carried out in order to expand the surface area of the absorbent material. This review article discusses the adsorption method by utilizing Indonesian typical fruit peel waste for the last 10 years. From several studies collected, it was found that waste from typical Indonesian fruit peels was effective in absorbing heavy metal waste. Fruit peel waste that has high effectiveness is lemon peel waste with an absorption capacity of 98.4% on Cd metal, with an pH 8 and optimum contact time of 2 hours. This review can be an alternative for the manufacture of other absorbent materials and eliminate metal pollution in the aquatic environment. Keywords : Water pollution, Heavy Metals, Adsorption, Indonesian Fruit Peel Waste

Abstract

AbstractThe problem behind this research is the unavailability of teaching materials that are effective and attract students' interest in learning. The teaching materials used during the chemistry learning process only utilize textbooks provided in the library and use student worksheets. This causes students to have difficulty understanding the concepts of chemistry, because textbooks tend to be monotonous and difficult to understand, moreover most of the material in chemistry learning is abstract so it needs a better explanation. Meanwhile, teachers have not developed interesting and easy-to-understand teaching materials due to time constraints. Based on this, the researchers conducted research on the development of SETS (Science, Environment, Technology, and Society)-Based Chemistry E-Modules for Class XI Students on petroleum materials. This research uses 4-D research (define, design, develop, and disseminate). To find out the validity or practicality of an e-module, validity and practicality tests are carried out. The results showed that the validation of the SETS-based chemical e-module that had been designed was very valid with a percentage of 96.8%, and the practicality results were very practical with a percentage of 89.0%. Keywords : Development, E-Module, SETS Approach

Abstract

The implementation of Virtual Laboratory in learning is a 21st century media that is expected to be able to help students master abstract and arithmetic chemistry material. Supported by the PBL learning model, this media is expected to be able to develop students' skills to become independent learners through solving the problems given, so that it is expected to improve student learning outcomes. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental design with a pretest and posttest design, in order to determine the effect of applying the PBL learning model using virtual laboratory media on students' chemistry learning outcomes. The test instrument supported by observation was analyzed for differences in effect using the t-test. The results showed the significant difference in student learning outcomes, at a significant level of 5% which indicated the influence of virtual laboratory media on the application of the PBL learning model on students' chemistry learning outcomes in the matter of reaction rates, with an effect coefficient of 7.8%.Keywords : Problem Based Learning, Virtual Chemistry Laboratory, Reaction Rate

Abstract

AbstractTest instruments are one of the important factors in assessing a test. Valid and reliable tests are needed to accurately assess students' abilities. This study analyzes the psychometric profile of the Written Ability Test (TKT) questions for the 1st stage of the Chemistry Championship (CC) held by the Chemistry Education Study Program, UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau in 2024. The psychometric tests carried out include empirical validity, reliability, difficulty level, and question discrimination. The instruments tested were 50 multiple-choice questions for the CC TKT stage 1. The questions were tested on 38 CC participants from 7 schools in Riau Province. There were no valid questions based on the validity test with point biserial correlation, the reliability of the questions was in the very high category, the average difficulty level of the questions was moderate, and the question discrimination power was mostly very good and poor. Keywords : Psychometric Analysis, Written Ability Test, Chemistry Olympiad
