Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to develop and enable Virtual Reality (VR) applications in chemistry learning. The method used is a literature review study, where we review and synthesize relevant previous research. This approach involves gathering, assembling, and analyzing literature from a variety of academic sources to understand the use and effectiveness of VR in chemistry education. The analysis results show that VR has great potential in improving understanding of chemical concepts through three-dimensional visualization and interactive simulations. Previous research shows that VR can increase student engagement and motivation, but it also faces technical and pedagogical challenges. This literature synthesis reveals best practices and pitfalls in research, providing direction for further development. By understanding trends and findings from previous research, this research contributes to the development of more effective and strategic VR applications in chemistry learning, as well as offers recommendations for implementation on a broader scale. Keywords: Virtual Reality, Chemistry Learning Media, Technology

Abstract

AbstractScience generic skill is a basic thinking skill needed in learning science. Student science generic skill was on low category, so the appropriate learning model was needed to solve it. This research aimed at finding out the effect of Case Based Learning (CBL) model toward student science generic skill on Crude Oil lesson at the eleventh grade.  This research was conducted on Crude Oil lesson in the Academic Year of 2023/2024 at State Senior High School 3 Tapung. Quasi-experiment method was used in this research. The subjects of this research were 2 classes experiment and control groups, selected by using purposive sampling technique. Based on the research findings, posttest showed that the significance score (2-tailed) 0.038 was lower than 0.05, so it showed that there was a significant difference between experiment and control groups. Besides, N-gain mean of experiment group science generic skill was 0.52, and the control group was 0.41. Therefore, it could be concluded that CBL model affected student science generic skill on Crude Oil lesson at the eleventh grade. The research findings were expected to help teachers in increasing student science generic skill by using CBL model in the learning process. Keywords : Case Based Learning, Science Generic Skill, Crude Oil

Abstract

AbstractProblem-solving ability was one of abilities that should be owned by students, and this ability was on low category in Indonesia. It needed attention to be developed because of the successful indicators of chemistry learning process. This research aimed at knowing how student problem-solving ability achievement on 4 problem-solving indicators after being taught by using Thinking Aloud Pair Problem Solving (TAPPS) model on Reaction Rate lesson. The subjects of this research were the eleventh-grade students of MIPA 4 at State Senior High School 1 Kampar, and Purposive sampling technique was used in this research. It was a quantitative descriptive research. The design used in this research was the one-shot case study. The data analysis result showed that problem-solving ability of students taught by using TAPPS model on 4 problem-solving indicators had various percentages. The achievement of problem-solving indicator on the indicator of planning the plans was 82.64% (very good), the indicator of implementing the plans was 78.52% (good), the indicator of crosschecking was 69.95% (good), and the indicator of understanding the problems was 63.32% (good). So, it was obtained that the mean of problem-solving ability of all the eleventh-grade students of MIPA 4 at State Senior High School 1 Kampar was 73.60%, and it was on good category. Keywords: Thinking Aloud Pair Problem Solving (TAPPS), Problem-Solving, Reaction Rate

Abstract

This research explores the impact approaching socioscientific issues on student learning succes in secondary school chemistry. The study utilizied a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) examining eight articles published beetwen 2020 and 2024 that met specific isssues in chemistry education. Steps of a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), 1) Google scholar (n=1000), 2) Searching results (n=35), 3) Reamining (n=32), 4) Screening of remaining (n=25), 5) Eligible articles (n-8). The findings show that this approach improves students understanding of key chemistry topic, especially acid-base chemistry, petroleum, and hidrocarbons. The laerning models applied in this study include Problem Based Learning (PBL) and discovery learning, both of wich effectively increase student engagement. The data showed the student in the experimental class applying the socio scientific approach achieved and average score of 65.16, compared to an average score of 50.87 in the control class. Relevan issues to discuss in the educational context include the environmental impact of chemical use, dependence on fossil fuels, and chemical waste management. Overall, this study has important implication for curriculum development and teaching metods in chemistry education, highlighting the importance of intergrating contemporary issues into the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of learning media using information and communication technology and the creation of student-centred, interactive, and multimedia networking learning patterns in the chemistry learning process. This research aimed at designing and finding out validity and practicality levels of Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics approach based interactive media with Nearpod developed on Chemical Bond lesson.  Research and Development (R&D) method was used in this research with Design Development Research (DDR) model, and the steps were analysis, design, development, and evaluation.  This research was conducted at State Senior High School 1 Benai.  The instruments of collecting data were interview sheet, validity test questionnaire, practicality test questionnaire, and student response questionnaire.  The validity test results showed that the percentage results were 94.64% by material experts and 90% by media experts with very valid criteria.  The percentage result of teacher practicality test was 91.66% with very practical criteria, and the percentage result of student response test was 94.88% with very interesting criteria, it can therefore be concluded that interactive media using Nearpod based on the science, technology, religion, engineering, art, and mathematics approach in chemical bonding material is worth trying out as additional teaching material in chemistry lessons.

Abstract

Environmental based learning aims to improve students' cognitive abilities and skills. Local excellence-based on science practicums are able to apply their knowledge, to find ideas, and implement it to motivate students to study hard. Where the learning resources concrete and more contextual through the manufacture of seaweed food products starting from analysis, design, development, and implementation (sampling and preparation, sample processing, product assessment) have resulted in a deep student understanding of the material. Students have creative abilities (14.8%), taste (13.5%), aroma (13.8%), appearance (14.5%), texture (13.5%), nutritional diversity (14.2%), and hygiene (15.7%), with an average level of understanding and skill of students in each group of 88.3%. Based on the practicum of making seaweed food products, students will become more creative, innovative, skilled, and improve their cognitive abilities.

Abstract

This research was motivated by students’ difficulties in understanding the concepts of electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solution material, and there is no E-module based on JAS (explore the nature around) approach in supporting student science literature on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution materials.  This research aimed at knowing the practicality and validity of E-module module based on JAS (explore the nature around) approach.  This research was conducted at state senior high school 1 Pekanbaru 2020/2021 academic year.  This research was research and development research using Borg & Gall model.  The subjects of this research were media and material experts who tested the validity, chemistry teachers and students (practicality test).  Interview and questionnaire were used for collecting the data.  The final result was the valid learning media.  The result of learning media E-module based on JAS (explore the nature around) approach in supporting student science literature on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution materials have been tested valid by the media expert was 79% in very valid category and material expert was 89.11% in very valid category. The practical tested by 1 chemistry teacher was 92.5% in very practical category, the practicality tested from 10 students were 88.5% in very practical category.  Therefore, it could be concluded that designing and trying out E-module based on JAS (explore the nature around) approach could support student science literature on electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution materials.
