Abstract

This study aims to describe the various cultural values of the people of Nias tribe that is represented in the ethnographic novel of Manusia Langit by J.A. Sonjaya. The approach used is the approach of literary anthropology, an interdisciplinary approach that specifically examines various aspects of human culture which is reflected through literary works. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. To analyze the data, used content analysis techniques that include the stages of data identification, data classification, data interpretation, and data interpretation. Based on the research results, found six cultural values of the people of Nias tribe that is represented in the novel of Manusia Langit. First, uphold the dignity of women. Second, respect for high status people. Third, upholding dignity and prestige. Fourth, deliberation and consensus. Fifth, the values of kinship and brotherhood in custom. Sixth, appreciate guests.

Abstract

This paper discusses literary material and textbooks in relation to the implementation of the Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP). There are three issues that need to be underlined: First, KTSP gives schools an opportunity to design their own curriculums. Secondly, KTSP must be supported by textbooks such as literary anthologies. Finally, the standard of competence and basic competence stipulated by the BNSP should not be used as the only reference in curriculum design since the curriculum itself is not without any weaknesses.

Abstract

Men and women use language diferently. Why? The simplest answer is because they differ sexually—something believed to be unchanged in our society. Then, is it true that there is a difference in the use of language between men and women? Are there really 'male' and female languages? Is it true that 'male' diction is identical with violence and 'female' diction with tendemess? Do we still believe that 'female' language is 'lower, as it deals with the patterns of weakness, than male' language which is 'stronger’?In terms of these uses of language by men and women, it is undeniable that so far, especially in valuing the works of literature, they are often seen subjectively and based more on names, on the person who created the works, and even on the gender, but not the works. It is also true that many literary works written by women tend to be seen from gender point of view. Considering this tendency this paper will seek to find out whether this difference in the use of language by men and women in literary works, especially in contemporary Indonesia poetry. The paradigm used here is that gender differences in the use of language may be less than what is usually accepted as reality. However, it can also seen here that sosiolinguistic approach does not focus on narrative, but on the ideology of the narrator.Therefore, the discussion in this paper will focus more on the diction of poetry, which is closely related with the nature of the language of poetry, which is dens with meanings. The words selected by a poet are the most suitable words into context of the poetry. Replacing the words in the lines of a poem with other poetry will not be seen as something independent, but as something in a broads context considering that a work of literature is a solid discourse.

Abstract

The Malangan language is a medium of communication that is still popular today. The main speakers who usually use the Malangan language are the young people of Malang to interact with their close colleagues. In addition, the Malangan language is often accompanied by harsh and excessive verbal language in the form of swearing, cursing, and cursing. This study aims to identify some of the characteristics of the banter speech in the Malangan language used by speakers. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The data used in this research are words, phrases, and sentences. The source of this research comes from informants consisting of 5 men who have known each other. The data collection techniques used are tapping, listening, and recording techniques. The technique of analysis in the study uses lexical techniques by considering the background context of the informants. The results obtained in the study of swear words in the Malangan language describe the form of speech in the form of noun base words as an expression of swear words by providing differences in terms of word order. One of the results found with the example of the vocabulary memek means vagina, then changed by reversing the last letter to the front. Thus, changing the arrangement of letters in the nominative base word to kemem. The conclusion is that swear words in the Malangan language are an emotional form, as well as humorous language by adding the characteristics of the Malangan language which often changes the word order.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the meaning of symbols and the concept of religiosity contained in the text of the romance Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse with.The source of the data in this study is Hermann Hesse's romance Siddhartha published in 1922. The data were analyzed by qualitative descriptive analysis techniques using a hermeneutical approach. The validity of the data is obtained from validity tests and reliability tests.The results showed that there are two symbols and four concepts of religiosity contained in Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha romance. The symbol found is a symbol of unity and a symbol of immortality. The symbol of unity is indicated by "Om", while the symbol of immortality is indicated by the river and its flow. The concept of religiosity includes ritual involvement, ideological involvement, intellectual involvement, experiential involvement, and consequential involvement.

TEXT COMPARISON OF THE FAIRY TALE LA BELLE AU BOIS DORMANT AbstractThis article presents a comparative analysis of two versions of the fairy tale "La Belle au Bois Dormant," written by Charles Perrault and Louise Pinel Marie, using a document analysis method with a structuralist approach. The focus of this research is to compare the writing style, narrative structure, and story elements. Both texts share the same basic structure, telling the story of a princess cursed to sleep for a hundred years, yet they differ in details, writing style, and language. Perrault's version is more detailed and formal, while Marie's is more unique and modern. This study depicts the evolution of fairy tale styles and the differences in perspectives and values in distinct historical contexts, highlighting the different approaches of the two authors in conveying the same story.Keywords: fairy tale, la belle au bois dormant, structuralism AbstrakArtikel ini menyajikan analisis komparatif terhadap dua versi dongeng "La Belle au Bois Dormant" oleh Charles Perrault dan Louise Pinel Marie, menggunakan metode analisis dokumen dengan pendekatan strukturalisme. Fokus penelitian ini adalah membandingkan gaya penulisan, struktur naratif, dan elemen cerita. Kedua teks berbagi struktur dasar yang sama, mengisahkan putri yang dikutuk tertidur selama seratus tahun, namun berbeda dalam detail, gaya penulisan, dan bahasa. Versi Perrault lebih detail dan formal, sementara Marie lebih unik dan modern. Studi ini menggambarkan evolusi gaya dongeng dan perbedaan pandangan serta nilai dalam konteks historis yang berbeda, menyoroti perbedaan pendekatan kedua penulis dalam menyampaikan cerita yang sama.Kata kunci: dongeng, la belle au bois dormant, strukturalisme

Abstract

Dark comedy in animation series has been frequently utilised to explain or make a statement about serious subjects so that most adults could relate to them more quickly than children because adults are the target audience for this type of genre in the animation production world.  Many times, the genre of dark comedy in one series covers serious subjects, such as death, famine, and even religious dogmatism in society. In Moral Orel (2005-2008), a satire on a religious issue is built upon how a character demonstrates a contradicting deviant behavior as a Christian man who struggles to maintain Christian altruistic values while at the same time represses his self-indulgent gratification. Applying textual analysis and Freud’s psychoanalytical approach, this paper concludes that the character Clay Puppington in Moral Orel (2005-2008) is used to show in a satirical way how one struggles to maintain Christian altruistic values while repressing self-indulgence gratification.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji etika humanisme dalam novel “Kubah Hati Terkoyak” karya Yudi Sumardi melalui tinjauan semiotik. Novel tersebut menggambarkan perjuangan seorang remaja, Arin, yang menghadapi berbagai tantangan dalam hidupnya, termasuk pengkhianatan cinta dan kesulitan ekonomi. Melalui tinjauan semiotik, hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh peneliti etika humanisme tokoh utama dalam novel “Kubah Hati Terkoyak” karya Yudi Sumardi menggunakan kajian Hardiman (2012) bahwa etika humanisme terbagi menjadi 6, yaitu menghargai pendapat orang lain, kerja sama, rela berkorban, peduli terhadap orang lain, tolong-menolong, dan solidaritas. Penelitian ini mengungkap bagaimana simbol-simbol dalam novel mencerminkan nilai-nilai humanisme, seperti empati, keberanian, dan harapan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk menunjukkan relevansi tema humanisme dalam konteks sosial dan emosional yang dihadapi oleh karakter utama, serta dampaknya terhadap pembaca. The novel depicts the struggle of a teenager, Arin, who faces various challenges in his life, including love betrayal and economic difficulties. Through a semiotic review, the results of research conducted by humanist ethics researchers on the main character in the novel “Kubah Hati Terkoyak” by Yudi Sumardi using Hardiman's study (2012) show that humanist ethics is divided into 6, namely respecting other people's opinions, cooperation, willingness to sacrifice, caring for others, helping each other, and solidarity. This research reveals how the symbols in the novel reflect humanist values, such as empathy, courage and hope. The research aims to show the relevance of the theme of humanism in the social and emotional context faced by the main character, as well as its impact on readers.Keywords: Humanistik Ethics, Humanism, Semiotics, Novel

Abstract

AbstrakSerat Rama merupakan salah satu karya Raden Ngabehi Yasadipura yang masih populer dan memiliki banyak nilai. Serat Rama juga menjadi bagian dari sastra karawitan. Beberapa baitnya masih populer dinyanyikan. Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mengungkap nilai spiritual Serat Rama yang populer di sastra karawitan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian pustaka (library research) dengan sumber data teks Serat Rama. Langkah penelitian yang dilakukan yakni pengumpulan data, analisis data, dan penyajian data hasil penelitian. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yakni teknik simak catat, sedangkan analisis data yang digunakan yaitu teknik menjalin ‘flow model of analysis’. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai spiritual Serat Rama dalam sastra karawitan adalah kesungguhan beribadah yang dilambangkan dalam aktivitas semedi ‘bertapa’. Semedi dapat mengarahkan manusia menuju spiritualitas. Semedi juga dapat diartikan dengan ibadah, maka nilai spiritual yang dicontohkan Rama dalam beribadah adalah: 1) ikhlas dalam melaksanakan ibadah ditandai dengan tidak mempermasalahkan tubuhnya yang kurus kering, sebagai akibat dari memohon petunjuk saat bertapa; dan 2) prihatin dalam melaksanakan ibadah ditandai dengan menahan kantuk, menguatkan hati melawan sirep ‘mantra agar mengantuk’, disaat yang lain tidak kuat melakukannya.Kata kunci: Sêrat Rama, sastra karawitan, nilai spiritual SPIRITUAL VALUE OF SERAT RAMA IN KARAWITAN LITERATUREAbstractSerat Rama is one of Raden Ngabehi Yasadipura's works which is still popular and has a lot of value. Serat  Rama is also part of karawitan literature. Some of its verses are still popularly sung. This research intends to reveal the spiritual value of Serat Rama which is popular in karawitan literature. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach. The research method used in this research is library research using the Serat Rama transliteration text data source. The research steps carried out were data collection, data analysis, and presentation of research data. The data collection technique used is the note-taking technique, while the data analysis used is the 'flow model of analysis' technique. The research results show that the spiritual value of Serat Rama in karawitan literature is the sincerity of worship which is symbolized in the meditation activity. Meditation can direct people towards spirituality. Meditation can also be interpreted as worship, so the spiritual values that Rama exemplifies in worship are: 1) sincerity in carrying out worship, characterized by not worrying about his emaciated body, as a result of asking for guidance during meditation; and 2) being concerned about carrying out worship is characterized by holding back drowsiness, strengthening the heart against of the spell of 'spells to make you sleepy', when others are not strong enough to do so.Keywords: Sêrat Rama, karawitan literature, spiritual value

Abstract

Literary sociology developed rapidly in the 18th century or since research using the theory of structuralism was considered to have experienced stagnation and was even considered involution. Literary sociology tries to present what is neglected structurally, namely the relevance of society. Literary sociology connects the experiences of fictional characters and situations created by the author, with the historical conditions of their origin. Therefore, this research aims to utilize sociological literature studies to describe the Buginese community's cultural localities in the novel Silariang Cinta Yang (Tak) Direstui by Oka Aurora. The data analysis technique used includes how the sociology of literature analysis model works, such as analyzing social problems contained in the work itself, and then connecting them with the real world which is generally considered extrinsic-reflective. Then find the relationship between structures that are dialectical in nature. This way of working then produces research that is intertwined with cultural forms silariang, siri', mabbaratta, mappadeceng, art, get closer to God.
