Abstract

Religious moderation (Wasathiyah) has been positioned as the primary orientation in Indonesia's Islamic Education (PAI) curriculum to counter radicalism. However, at the practical level, PAI learning remains trapped in normative-doctrinal patterns that stifle critical reasoning, resulting in Wasathiyah being taught merely as a top-down bureaucratic slogan rather than a thinking skill. This study aims to critique the structure of the contemporary PAI curriculum and offer an epistemological reconstruction of Wasathiyah through a Multi-Trans-Interdisciplinary (MTI) approach within the perspective of Islamic history and philosophy. This study is a qualitative-philosophical library research. Data were gathered from PAI curriculum documents, religious textbooks, and classical Islamic philosophy literature. Data analysis was conducted critically using Amin Abdullah's integration-interconnection method to dissect the dialectics of bayani, burhani, and irfani reasoning modes. The results indicate a sharp gap between the ideality of Wasathiyah as an inclusive-rational cosmopolitan civilization strategy in the classical era (such as the House of Wisdom and Andalusia periods) and the reality of contemporary PAI, which lacks critical reasoning. Through the lens of MTI, this study successfully formulates an epistemological reconstruction of PAI that shifts the learning orientation from exclusive memorization toward dialectical inquiry. Aligning historical context, philosophical frameworks (specifically burhani reasoning), and pedagogical implementation is capable of positioning Wasathiyah as a middle way of thinking (a middle epistemology) that shields students from both literalist and liberalist extremities. This study offers a theoretical contribution in the form of an MTI-based Wasathiyah PAI epistemological grand framework that synthesizes classical traditions with modern demands to foster a profile of a "Reasoning Faith" generation in the digital era. Keywords:  Epistemological Critique, Islamic Education Moderation, Multi-Trans-Interdisciplinary, Islamic Philosophy, Islamic History

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of using digital interactive whiteboards as a learning medium on learning outcomes. The research method used was a survey using a questionnaire. The subjects of the study were 18 fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Getasrejo. The data collection technique used in this study was a questionnaire to assess student learning outcomes. The results indicate that digital interactive whiteboards can improve student learning outcomes. Changes in student learning outcomes showed that 88% of students were enthusiastic about participating in lessons, 77% reported increased IPAS scores and found the material easier to understand, and 94% found IPAS lessons enjoyable. Digital interactive whiteboards can also create a fun and interactive learning atmosphere. The study concludes that digital interactive whiteboards can improve student learning outcomesKeywords: learning media, digital interactive whiteboard, learning outcomes, IPAS

Abstract

This study aims to develop an interactive ethnocomputing multimedia program integrated with the Tirta Amerta Sari story to enhance the computational thinking skills of elementary school students. The background of this study is based on the importance of developing computational thinking skills from an early age, as well as the need for contextual and engaging learning media. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were 28 fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Lawang. The instruments used included an expert validation sheet, a computational thinking test in the form of image matching and descriptive tasks, and a student response questionnaire. The results showed that the developed interactive multimedia was rated as “highly suitable” based on expert validation of the multimedia, language, and content. The pilot test results showed an improvement in students’ computational thinking skills, with the average pretest score of 58.21 increasing to 82.14 on the posttest, and an N-Gain value of 0.57 in the moderate category. The t-test results showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest (Sig. < 0.05). Thus, interactive ethnocomputing multimedia integrated with historical narratives is effective in improving the computational thinking skills of elementary school students. Keywords: Educational Multimedia, Ethnocomputing, Computational Thinking, Local Wisdom

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed democratic practices by reshaping the dissemination of information, political communication, and citizen participation in digital spaces. At the same time, AI has heightened the risks of disinformation, hate speech, deepfakes, and polarization, which may undermine the quality of democracy. This study aims to analyze the role of democratic education in strengthening civic literacy to address these challenges. The study employs a qualitative approach using a library research method and analyzes various scholarly literature and policy documents through content analysis. The findings indicate that democratic education needs to integrate digital literacy, AI literacy, critical thinking skills, digital ethics, and responsible civic participation. These strategies can be implemented through the integration of AI literacy into Pancasila and Civic Education learning, the application of participatory problem-based learning, and the enhancement of teachers’ competencies. These efforts are expected to foster critical, adaptive, and character-driven digital citizens, enabling AI to be utilized as a means of strengthening democratic values. Keywords: Democratic Education, Artificial Intelligence, Civic Literacy, Disinformation, Polarization.
