Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic-based family building in shaping households characterized by sakinah, mawaddah, wa rahmah in Indonesia. Through literature review of official national data and governmental policies principally from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) the study evaluates family indicators (marriage, divorce, contraceptive participation) and the implementation of family building programs (family registration, premarital counseling, SIGA data system). The findings indicate that comprehensive family programs and data systems have the potential to support household resilience and quality. However, variation in access, socio-economic challenges, and suboptimal program reach suggest the need to strengthen faith-based and policy-based family building. Recommendations include reinforcing data–service integration, expanding the coverage of premarital counseling, and continuous evaluation to realize households of sakinah, mawaddah and rahmah.

Abstract

The role of Sufism in today's life is increasingly important in line with technological advances, fast-paced lifestyles, and increasing stress in society. Sufism, as a spiritual aspect of Islam, offers an approach focused on peace of mind, self-control, and cleansing the heart of negative traits. This study aims to explain how Sufism principles, such as asceticism (zuhud), patience, gratitude, and tawakkul (religious surrender), can be applied in today's context to create a balance between physical and spiritual needs. Through literature research and analysis of ideas, it was discovered that Sufism can be an alternative solution to modern challenges such as mental stress, the crisis of meaning in life, and the decline of morality. Therefore, Sufism serves not only as a spiritual teaching but also as a practical guideline for developing a calmer, more ethical, and more conscious character when facing the challenges of the times.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept and significance of Tauhid (the Oneness of Allah) as presented in Kitab At-Tauhid by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, with a focus on the first two chapters: “At-Tauhid” and “The Virtue of Tauhid and Its Expiation of Sins.” This research employs a qualitative method using a library research approach by analyzing primary and secondary sources, including the Qur’an, authentic hadiths, and classical Islamic commentaries. The findings reveal that Tauhid is not merely a theological doctrine but a transformative principle that purifies the heart, strengthens faith, and shapes moral character. Shaykh ibn Abd al-Wahhab’s reformist effort sought to restore the purity of Islamic monotheism and eliminate deviant practices such as reliance on intermediaries and saint veneration. This study concludes that Tauhid possesses enduring spiritual and ethical relevance in addressing contemporary moral crises, materialism, and secularism, functioning as a foundational framework for faith renewal, moral integrity, and universal harmony.

Abstract

Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 177, contains comprehensive Islamic educational values and forms the basis of the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum. This verse teaches five main aspects that must be inherent in Islamic education: faith, worship, mu’amalah (transactions), keeping promises, and patience. The faith aspect encompasses belief in Allah SWT, the Angels, the prophets, the Holy Scriptures, the Day of Judgment, and the decree of good and evil, serving as a spiritual foundation that shapes the character of faithful and pious students. The worship aspect includes prayer, fasting, zakat, almsgiving, and the Hajj pilgrimage, as ritual practices that must be mastered. Mu'amalah, or social interaction, emphasizes responsibility towards family, the environment, and the wider community, including assisting orphans, the poor, travelers, and freeing my servants. Keeping promises reflects an attitude of trustworthiness, responsibility, and trust that must be cultivated in students. Lastly, patience in facing life's trials, such as hardship, suffering, and difficulties, is a mental and spiritual strength that is very important for the formation of a mature and steadfast soul. The PAI curriculum based on this verse aims to form people who are not only academically competent but also spiritually strong and have noble character, ready to face life with faith, morals, and social concern.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the definition of educators and how the position, role, and characteristics of educators are from the perspective of hadith, as well as these values when implemented in the context of modern Islamic education. The hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) provides the basis that educators not only provide knowledge, but also moral examples, spiritual guides, and central figures who determine the achievement of educational goals. The research method used is qualitative with a library research approach through a review of hadith literature and relevant secondary sources. Data were analyzed descriptively and analytically with an emphasis on understanding the meaning of hadith related to the role of educators. The results of the study show that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has exemplified the role of ideal educators through compassion, patience, exemplary behavior, and sincerity in teaching. The hadiths that touch on the position of teachers emphasize that educators have a noble position because they are intermediaries of knowledge and shape morals, thus being able to produce a generation of Muslims who are knowledgeable, moral, and responsible.

Abstract

This study examines the theological basis of the teachings of the hadith on the etiquette of seeking knowledge from an Islamic perspective. Seeking knowledge is not only considered an obligation commanded by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), but must also be carried out with good manners according to the Sunnah. The hadiths emphasize the importance of sincere intentions, sincerity, respect for teachers, and politeness during the learning process. By emulating these etiquette, students not only receive blessings and rewards but also improve their spiritual and social standing in the eyes of Allah and society. This journal uses a study approach of hadith texts and Islamic literature to emphasize that the etiquette of seeking knowledge is the main foundation in carrying out the obligation to acquire knowledge in an Islamic manner, which needs to be integrated into the Islamic religious education system. This journal aims to examine in depth the theological basis of the teachings of the hadith on the etiquette of seeking knowledge by referring to the Qur'an, the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the views of authoritative Salaf scholars. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach. The results of this journal demonstrate that the etiquette of seeking knowledge has a strong theological basis, rooted in the concepts of monotheism, worship, and morals in Islam. Therefore, the teaching of hadith on the etiquette of seeking knowledge needs to be systematically internalized in contemporary Islamic education as a foundation for developing students' character.

Abstract

The relationship between Islam and modern science has a long history and significant contributions to the development of science. During the golden age of Islamic civilization, many Muslim scientists successfully developed various disciplines, such as mathematics, astronomy, medicine, and philosophy. These contributions not only had a significant impact on Islamic civilization itself but also on the development of global science. The Middle Ages witnessed the birth of prominent scientists such as Al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Sina, and Al-Razi, whose works remain recognized today. However, over time, significant challenges have emerged in the development of science in the Islamic world, particularly with the advent of secularism and modernity. In this context, the integration of religious knowledge and science has become a crucial issue, with balance being considered vital to the education and development of Muslims. This article examines the development of science in Islam, explains the relationship between religious knowledge and science, and analyzes the challenges faced by Muslims in developing science in the modern era.

Abstract

This study examines Syaikh Gentaru as a local Islamic scholar and his role in the development of cultural Islam in Kedungsari, Tuwiri Wetan Village, Merakurak District, Tuban Regency. Syaikh Gentaru is primarily known through oral traditions preserved by the local community, which portray him as a significant figure in the early process of Islamization at the local level, despite the limited availability of written historical records. Historically, he is believed to have lived during the period of Islamic expansion along the northern coast of Java, particularly during the era of the Demak Sultanate, when Tuban served as an important center of trade and Islamic propagation. Syaikh Gentaru employed a persuasive and culturally adaptive approach to da’wah, integrating Islamic teachings with existing local traditions without rejecting them entirely. This method facilitated a gradual and peaceful acceptance of Islam among the local population. Beyond his role as a religious preacher, he also functioned as a social leader and moral exemplar, contributing to the formation of both religious and social values within the community. The legacy of his cultural da’wah remains evident in contemporary society through practices such as grave pilgrimage, tahlilan, selametan, and haul commemorations, all of which represent a synthesis of Islamic teachings and local cultural expressions. Moreover, his influence is reflected in the community’s social life, which emphasizes values such as harmony, tolerance, and mutual cooperation. In conclusion, Syaikh Gentaru played a crucial role in shaping a model of cultural Islam that continues to be sustained and transmitted across generations in Kedungsari.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of literacy culture programs on improving students' reading at SDN 21 Palembang. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with the principal and homeroom teachers of grades 1 to 6, and documentation of literacy activities in the field. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, comprising data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that literacy culture programs—specifically reading corner and reading clinic activities—significantly improve students' reading interest, especially among grade 4 and 5 students. This improvement is reinforced by active teacher support and parental involvement in accompanying children to read at home. Inhibiting factors include limited book collections, gadget influence, and insufficient parental participation. This research is expected to serve as a reference for educational practitioners in implementing literacy improvement strategies in elementary schools.

Abstract

Health is one of the greatest blessings bestowed upon humanity by Allah, yet paradoxically, it is often neglected until it is lost. In everyday life, many people are preoccupied with worldly pursuits, failing to realize that health and longevity are, in fact, trusts (amanah) that will ultimately be held accountable before God. This article aims to examine the reflective and spiritual meaning of good health and long life in the context of a Muslim's journey. Using a qualitative approach through Islamic literature review, this paper explores moral and spiritual messages derived from the Qur’an, the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and real-life experiences that reflect the inevitable human life cycle—birth, health, illness, aging, and death. The findings indicate that health and longevity are not merely physical conditions or numerical years, but rather valuable opportunities to increase righteous deeds, seek repentance, and improve one’s relationship with both Allah and fellow human beings. Self-awareness of life’s transience and deep gratitude (shukr) for every moment of existence are essential in preserving this divine gift and preventing it from being squandered. Health, therefore, is not only a biological state but also a spiritual means toward the fulfillment of one’s purpose as a servant of Allah. The article recommends instilling spiritual education and religious values from an early age, so that Muslims may view health and life not merely as worldly pleasures, but as vital investments for the afterlife.
