Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) was conducted at Pesantren Tahfiz Assyifa Al-Islami, Waru Jaya Village, Bogor, aiming to empower students through the digitalization of pesantren economy based on podcastpreneurship. The program was motivated by the limited capacity of students in managing creative economic potential and developing digital leadership within Islamic boarding schools. Through a series of training and mentoring activities, the PKM team introduced the concept of a digital eco-pesantren, integrating Islamic entrepreneurship values, podcast technology, and digital da’wah communication strategies. The activities included podcastpreneurship workshops, creative content production, and the establishment of a mini digital studio as a medium for economic empowerment and leadership development. The results revealed significant improvements in students’ digital communication skills, entrepreneurial motivation, and ability to produce technology-based da’wah content. This program serves as an integrative model linking pesantren education, Islamic economics, and sustainable digital transformation toward Muslim community empowerment.

Abstract

Plastic waste remains a significant environmental challenge, particularly in rural areas with limited or nonexistent waste management infrastructure. This study investigates the implementation of the Ecobrick program in Sihite II Village and evaluates its impact on raising environmental awareness and promoting active community participation in sustainable waste management practices. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach through direct observation and literature review, the findings indicate that prior to the program, environmental hygiene was poor, with plastic waste scattered across the village. Community outreach activities effectively improved residents’ understanding of proper waste handling. Furthermore, the hands-on process of creating Ecobricks provided new skills and shifted local perceptions, demonstrating that waste materials can be transformed into valuable resources. A tangible outcome of the program was the construction of a village signboard made from Ecobricks, symbolizing both environmental consciousness and local identity. Overall, the program contributed to a reduction in plastic waste and fostered a culture of sustainable environmental stewardship within the community.

Abstract

This community service program focuses on modernizing the management of Koperasi Mekar in Mudung Darat Village, Maro Sebo Subdistrict, Muaro Jambi Regency through the adoption of digital technology. Until now, the cooperative’s transaction recording has been carried out manually using notebooks or Microsoft Excel, which is prone to errors, lacks transparency, and requires a long time to prepare financial reports. To address these issues, the service team conducted training and mentoring on the use of a digital-based savings and loan cooperative application (Kosipanet). The implementation of digitalization is expected to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in financial management. In addition, this activity is also designed to strengthen the human resource capacity of the cooperative, especially the administrators and members, so that they have adequate digital literacy. The success of the program is demonstrated through the administrators’ mastery of the application, the availability of accurate and real-time financial reports, and the increased participation of members in decision-making. Thus, this activity not only promotes professional cooperative governance but also serves as a means of community empowerment based on digital technology, enabling the cooperative to adapt to the digital era and support sustainable local economic development.

Abstract

Low financial literacy and informal bookkeeping constrain the Mandiri Farmer Group’s enterprise management and access to external financing in Mudung Darat, Maro Sebo, Muaro Jambi. This progress report summarizes a three-week participatory mentoring program that strengthened basic financial capabilities, introduced standardized manual and digital cashbooks, and guided the preparation of simple financial statements. Methods combined interactive lectures, simulations, hands-on transaction recording, and coaching using context-fit templates. Early results show the adoption of routine cash recording, the production of the group’s first structured income–expense and simple profit–loss reports, shorter reporting time, and clearer transparency to members. These outputs have begun to inform season-based cost planning and sales decisions, signaling a shift toward data-driven management. The intervention demonstrates that lightweight tools and close mentoring can quickly improve accountability and decision quality in smallholder settings. The approach is scalable for rural groups with similar constraints and supports inclusive, evidence-based agricultural development.

Abstract

This community service initiative was designed to empower housewives in Dusun III, Desa Pematang Sijonam, by introducing ecoprint as a sustainable craft and a potential driver of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The activity was motivated by the limited access to alternative livelihoods in rural communities and the increasing relevance of environmentally conscious products in contemporary markets. The program adopted a descriptive qualitative design, emphasizing participatory involvement through workshops and direct practice. Participants were guided to identify tannin-rich leaves from their local environment, arrange them on pre-mordanted cotton tote bags, and apply steaming processes to transfer pigments. The outcomes revealed that participants not only acquired technical competence but also demonstrated heightened creativity and confidence, producing distinctive motifs that carried cultural and ecological values. More importantly, the training raised awareness of the economic potential of natural resources that had previously been overlooked. This activity suggests that ecoprint is not merely an artistic expression but also a practical strategy for fostering women’s economic independence, stimulating rural entrepreneurship, and strengthening sustainable development at the community level.

Abstract

This community service program, conducted in Sindangwangi Village, Brebes Regency, aims to optimize the use of unproductive village land to improve local welfare. A team from the University of Civilization initiated an empowerment project through the introduction of balsa tree (Ochroma pyramidale) cultivation as an alternative source of economic value. The program was implemented in several stages, including problem identification, land mapping, provision of agricultural equipment, training, and technical mentoring for the community. The villagers received practical guidance on nursery preparation, planting techniques, and tree maintenance. As a result, six hectares of idle land that had been overgrown with weeds were successfully cleared, and 1,000 balsa seedlings were planted as demonstration plots. In addition to improving land productivity, this activity significantly enhanced community knowledge and skills in sustainable forestry management. The harvested balsa is expected to generate approximately IDR 100 million in village income within five years. This success demonstrates that collaboration between higher education institutions and local governments can effectively transform non-productive assets into profitable and environmentally friendly economic resources, supporting sustainable rural development and the achievement of the SDGs at the village level.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) was implemented at SDN Ndeskati, Naman Teran District, Karo Regency, with the aim of improving Islam ic financial literacy and fostering a saving habit from an early age. This activity was motivated by the low level of Islamic financial literacy in rural areas, where elementary school students generally have limited knowledge of both the basic principles of Islamic banking and the importance of saving. The methods included interactive counseling, educational games, and saving simulations through class piggy banks. Evaluation was carried out using simple pre-test and post-test assessments. The results showed a significant improvement: students who regularly saved increased from 20% to 70%, students who understood the benefits of saving rose from 25% to 85%, and students who were able to identify basic principles of Islamic banking improved from 15% to 78%. In addition, teachers committed to continuing the school saving program, while parents expressed support for encouraging their children to save, with some showing interest in opening Islamic savings accounts. Thus, this KKN activity proved effective in enhancing Islamic financial literacy and cultivating a saving culture among elementary school students in rural areas.

Abstract

The village of Lau Gumba faces significant ecological problems, especially related to household waste and the lack of environmental aesthetics, which require solutions that are not only technical but also based on social and religious values. Therefore, this community service adopts an ecotheological approach, which combines religious teachings with ecological awareness, through the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. The goal of this program is to instill interfaith ecological ethics, strengthen active community participation, and redesign village environmental governance. The activities carried out include environmental care actions involving various religious groups, planting 100 trees as a form of reforestation, providing ecobins for waste management, as well as recycling waste such as used cooking oil into candles and making natural mosquito repellent sprays. The results obtained from this activity include a cleaner environment, an increase in ecological awareness of around 30%, and more harmonious interfaith social relations. These findings show that ecotheology not only serves as a strategy in sustainable environmental management, but also as an instrument for cross-faith value education. Thus, ecotheology enriches the discourse on spirituality-based environmental education, making it an effective approach in solving environmental problems while strengthening interreligious harmony.
