Abstract

The purpose of this research is to build a model that can detect damage to avocados, using gas sensors that are accurate, precise, specific, and sensitive. The specific goal is to get the best model from the several machine learning methods used. The best model will be obtained through a classification algorithm. The input data to be processed is gas data in units of ppm measured from damaged and normal avocados that have been stored for 7 days. Gas data recording uses the TGS 2600, MQ-3, MQ-4, MQ-2, and MQ-8 sensors. Each data quality will be improved by cleaning and normalizing data. The quality-enhanced data is then used as input to the machine learning system. The machine learning model used is the Ada-boost, Decision Tree, Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) classification model and the Stratified K-Fold Cross Validation method. The trained model is then tested with a comparison of the number of test data and training data which is 70:30. The test results show the accuracy of the avocado damage detection system using ppm data obtained using the gas sensor and the Stratified K-Fold Cross Validation method with system accuracy on the Ada-boost value having an accuracy of 100%, 100%, 100% and 50%, with a method accuracy value classifier with 4x repetitions.

Abstract

The development of political science in the contemporary era is marked by various shifts and advances in viewpoints and theoretical approaches. The influence of technology, changing dynamics of public participation, and unique geographical and temporal contexts, all contribute to the complexity of applying contemporary political theory, especially in the Indonesian context. The evolution of political thought has witnessed fluctuations from the classical to the contemporary era, with a transition towards behavioral approaches in the study of politics. The shift towards a behavioral approach to politics marked a significant departure from the previous emphasis on political thought as a philosophy closely linked to the history of philosophy. In contemporary politics, there are various trends and crucial issues such as globalization, environmental issues, inequality, human rights and technological developments. In the development of political science, there are several political theories that have developed throughout the contemporary era. Here are some of them, namely political realism, liberalism, constructivism, feminism, dependency theory, and postcolonialism. The research method that will be used in this article is a qualitative method with a focus on literature study. This research discusses political theories of the contemporary era and the challenges facing contemporary politics.

Abstract

News about student demonstrations regarding the impact of the increase in single tuition fees (UKT) after National Education Day has been widely reported, including in the mass media Tempo.co, Kalderanews.com, and Radarbanyumas.disway.id. It is certain that the perception and discourse of news from each mass media is different. Using Teun Van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) method, this research aims to examine the discourse, social cognition and social context in mass media reports regarding the increase in Single Tuition Fees (UKT) in several State Universities after National Education Day on May 2 2024 . This research uses a qualitative method by collecting data through observing the three news stories and analyzing them using the Van Dijk CDA framework which includes macro structure, superstructure and microstructure (Semantics & Syntax). This study explains that the three news stories have the same topic, but the news is presented with different sub-themes and styles. These findings highlight that news articles depict students in a protest role, while universities and the Ministry as the guilty parties, indicating a lack of concern for students. This analysis highlights the role of the media in shaping public perceptions of the phenomenon.

Abstract

Business activities are very identical to the licensing process to obtain legality of business activities. In order to simplify the procedures, time, and costs of licensing services, the government has implemented e-government on the aspects of licencing services by issuing a Risk-Based Enterprise Licensing Policy through the OSS-RBA system. However, in the implementation process of this policy there are still problems so that implementation is not optimal. The problem raised in this study is the poor understanding of the entrepreneur to the use of the system, the socialization held by DPMPTSP Pontianak City is still ineffective, and still the low knowledge that the officials possessed by the DPMPsP Pontian City about using the OSS-RBA system. The purpose of this research is to know and analyze the implementation process of the policy of licensing attempts based on risk on DPMPSP Pontiaanak City. The methods used are descriptive qualitative research methods. Data is obtained through observation, interviews, documentation, and triangulation. This study uses the implementation theory of Donald S. Van Meter and Carl E. Van Horn. The results of the research show that implementation of a risk-based licensing policy on Pontianak City DPMPTSP is not optimal. This can be seen from the absence of the Operational Standards Procedures in service, the many features in the OSS- RBA system becoming an obstacle to the entrepreneur, the participation of entrepreneurs is still low to understand the use of the system, the lack of knowledge and skills of some staff on how the system works, training of staff uneven, and ineffective socialization programmes.

Abstract

This research analysis politeness strategies in Joko Widodo's Instagram comment column using Brown and Levinson's theory. In the era of social media such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, virtual communication exhibits both transactional and interactional functions of language, where the absence of face-to-face communication directly influences participants' language behaviour. This research aims to describe the use of language politeness strategies in virtual interactions. The research method used is qualitative with data collection techniques through observation and recording comments on Joko Widodo's Instagram account. The findings reveal the use of various politeness strategies, including positive politeness, negative politeness, bald-on record, and bald-off record strategies. Specifically, the analysis of 1,631 comments showed that 6,2% of the comments used positive politeness strategies, 7,7% used negative politeness strategies, 60% used bald-on-record strategies, and 26,1% used off-record strategies. Social factors influencing the choice of these strategies were also identified, underscoring the critical role of politeness in maintaining social harmony and respecting interpersonal relationships in online communication.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) of the article "Indonesia closer to dream of World Cup," published by The Jakarta Post on June 12, 2024. Employing Teun A. van Dijk’s CDA framework, this research seeks to uncover the underlying themes, social cognitions, and contextual elements that shape the narrative presented by the media regarding Indonesia’s aspiration to host the FIFA World Cup. The Jakarta Post's coverage is of particular interest as it reflects and potentially influences national sentiments and perceptions concerning Indonesia's international standing and capabilities. The findings of this study indicate that The Jakarta Post employs a strategic use of language to construct a positive and aspirational narrative around Indonesia’s World Cup bid. The use of optimistic language, motivational rhetoric, and authoritative quotes creates a compelling vision of national progress and international recognition. This narrative not only reflects the country's ambitions but also serves to mobilize public support and foster a sense of collective identity and purpose. This s study contributes to the field of media studies and critical discourse analysis by providing insights into the interplay between media, society, and national identity. It underscores the power of media narratives in shaping public perception and mobilizing collective action towards national goals. The application of van Dijk’s CDA framework provides a robust analytical tool for examining how discourse structures reflect and shape power relations, ideologies, and social structures within a specific cultural and historical context. This research thus offers valuable perspectives on the role of media in constructing and disseminating discourses that influence societal values and ideologies, particularly in the context of major international events such as the FIFA World Cup.

Abstract

Tax audits alone may not be effective enough in encouraging tax compliance without being supported by thorough tax education and the use of technology in the tax system. The research method used is the literature research method. The results show that tax audit has a deterrent effect on tax avoidance, but its effectiveness increases significantly when accompanied by tax education that provides knowledge and forms a positive attitude towards taxes. In addition, the integration of technology in the tax administration process makes it easier for taxpayers to fulfill their obligations, improving tax compliance through increased efficiency and transparency. Thus, success in improving tax compliance requires a combination of fair and consistent enforcement of regulations, informative and awareness-building education initiatives, and the development of a supportive technological infrastructure. The implications of these findings provide guidance for tax policy makers to design more effective strategies to improve tax compliance in the future.
