Abstract

Law no. 8 of 2016 concerning Persons with Disabilities, namely Article 53 paragraphs 1 and 2, stipulates that job providers from the government sector are required to employ a minimum of 2% of the number of employees with disabilities. Meanwhile, private companies are required to employ at least 1% of their employees with disabilities. Companies that do not implement this policy will be subject to sanctions. However, to date, no company or institution has ever been sanctioned for not employing people with disabilities. This is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach which aims to answer the question of how to implement government policy in Law No. 8 of 2016 regarding providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities and what efforts must be made so that this Law can be implemented effectively by stakeholders. Data collection was carried out by observing semi-structured interviews with 13 informants consisting of people with disabilities who had worked in companies, people with disabilities who had run their own MSMEs. Source triangulation was applied by interviewing company owners and human rights activists. The research results show that Law No. 8 of 2016 has not been implemented properly. This is caused not only by juridical factors, but also non-juridical factors.

Abstract

In a country with a multi-ethnic population like Indonesia, cultural conflict is something that cannot be avoided. Previous government policies that used the concept of assimilation meant that ethnic minority cultures had to merge into Indonesian culture as the dominant culture. As a result, ethnic minority cultures are lost or shackled. The concept of Multicultural Integration is offered as an alternative to reduce inter-ethnic conflict. Ethnicity is often seen as something that is situationally determined and symbolically charged. If, for example, platforms for solidarity are described and understood in structural terms, the result may be shifting ethnic identities on the basis of solidarity and politically called for mobilization on the basis of solidarity. Likewise, pressure, discrimination and racism, independent of gross cultural differences, form the basis for broad social solidarity and mobilization and the construction of a collective identity. The integration found in ethnic cultural wisdom is categorized into normative integration. Normative integration is a social bond that occurs because there is an agreement (consensus) on basic values and norms. The pattern of social relations between ethnic groups described above shows that an associative or positive pattern has been formed.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease with an increasing prevalence globally. Diabetes management involves a multifaceted approach that includes lifestyle changes, blood sugar monitoring, and the use of medications. While modern medicine has become fundamental in the management of diabetes, traditional medicine is also still widely used. This study aims to evaluate and compare the efficacy of traditional and modern medicine in the management of diabetes. The research method used in this study is literature review. The results showed that modern medicine, which is based on strong scientific evidence and clinical validation, consistently showed higher efficacy in controlling blood sugar and reducing the risk of diabetes complications compared to traditional medicine. Drugs such as Metformin, DPP-4 inhibitors, and GLP-1 analogs have strong evidence of efficacy. On the other hand, studies on traditional medicine show mixed results with some offering potential benefits in controlling blood sugar. However, evidence regarding traditional medicine often lacks consistency and is poorly understood in the context of a clear mechanism of action.

Abstract

The court's verdict in the sexual intercourse against children case substituted prison time and fines with vocational education as the primary penalties. The alternative to a fine for a juvenile offender who cannot pay it is either mandatory labor training with a grace period or incarceration. Judgmental decisions involving moral crimes perpetrated against children are based on both legal and non-legal factors. The elements of the articles charged to the juvenile offender must be proven by legitimate evidence in accordance with article 184 of Law Number 8 of 1981 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code and the judge's conviction; this is one aspect of the legal considerations. The presence of a community study report prepared by the Community, the judge's observation during the hearing, and other non-juridical factors Supervisor from the Correctional Center which contains the background, family, social, economic and association of the child defendant in his environment as well as the judge's knowledge and experience in examining cases of moral crimes, especially the crime of sexual intercourse.  Community advisors conduct community research only on child defendants and do not conduct community research on child victims, so that the recommendation, according to the judge, sees the best interests of the child defendant but is not necessarily the best thing for child victims. The judge in making his decision, correctly considered and based on the results of the research on the requirements but rarely accommodated the recommendations of the community's research results in his decision. This is because the Judge has an obligation to maintain a sense of justice for child victims and the benefits of sanctions for child defendants so that the verdict can be the best thing for both parties or parties related to the crime.
