Abstract

Purpose of Study: This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Nearpod-based training in improving the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) competence of prospective physics teachers in designing physics learning tools.Methodology: This study employed a quantitative approach with two analytical components. The first component used a One-Group Pretest–Posttest design involving 19 prospective physics teachers who participated in Nearpod-based training and teaching simulations. The second component involved a final TPACK questionnaire administered to 60 prospective physics teachers from four universities. Data were analyzed using N-Gain, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, and the Rasch Model with Winsteps software. Main Findings: The results showed that the mean TPACK score increased from 76.05 in the pre-test to 91.50 in the post-test, with an N-Gain value of 0.65, indicating moderate improvement. The Wilcoxon test produced a significance value of 0.000, confirming a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores. Rasch analysis showed that 85% of respondents were in the moderate TPACK category. The Wright Map further indicated that Technological Knowledge, Content Knowledge, and some aspects of Pedagogical Knowledge were relatively easier to master, whereas Pedagogical Content Knowledge, Technological Pedagogical Knowledge, and holistic TPACK remained more challenging.Novelty/Originality of This Study: This study highlights Nearpod not only as a digital learning platform, but also as a pedagogical design space that supports prospective physics teachers in integrating physics content, interactive digital features, formative assessment, student engagement, and feedback within technology-enhanced learning.

Abstract

Purpose of Study: This study aimed to design and validate a digital Polya-based e-problem sheet incorporating Bengkulu local wisdom to enhance understanding of wave mechanics and foster critical thinking among undergraduate physics students.Methodology: The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), limited to the Develop stage. Sixty students from the Physics Education Program, University of Bengkulu, were purposively sampled based on prior academic performance. Nine experts (three each for content, media, and language) conducted validation. Expert feedback was analyzed using Aiken’s V, while student practicality was assessed through descriptive percentage analysis, supplemented with qualitative observations and interviews.Main Findings: The e-problem sheet achieved high validity in content (V = 0.948), media (V = 0.961), and language (V = 0.961) aspects. Student practicality scored an average of 91%, with the highest ratings for content appeal and clarity of Polya’s steps. Readability and support for independent learning were identified as areas for enhancement. Integration of local wisdom improved contextual relevance and engagement, and the structured Polya stages effectively guided problem-solving and critical thinking.Novelty/Originality of This Study: The study introduces an innovative instructional tool that combines culturally contextual learning with structured problem-solving in a digital format. By bridging abstract physics concepts with local environmental and cultural contexts, the e-problem sheet provides a validated, practical model for enhancing conceptual understanding and critical thinking, with potential for adaptation across other science subjects and educational settings.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this study is to explore how interactive Scratch-based learning influences children's engagement and digital literacy within the context of early childhood education (PAUD). Specifically, the study examines whether integrating Scratch into the learning process improves children's attention, motivation, active participation, and fundamental digital interaction skills compared with conventional instructional methods.Methodology: The study adopted a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group approach. The participants comprised 30 children aged 4–5 years enrolled in a single early childhood education (PAUD) institution. They were assigned to two groups: an experimental group (n = 15), which participated in Scratch-based interactive learning activities, and a control group (n = 15), which received conventional storytelling-based instruction. Data were collected using observation sheets with a 4-point scale measuring focus, enthusiasm, participation, and digital literacy through pre-test and post-test observations and subsequently analyzed using paired-samples and independent-samples t-test.Main Findings: The findings revealed that children in the experimental group demonstrated significantly greater improvements across all measured variables than those in the control group. Interactive Scratch-based learning effectively increased attention, active participation, and enthusiasm during learning activities. Additionally, children demonstrated improved ability to interact with digital media and follow simple digital instructions. The effect size analysis also indicated large practical effects in the experimental group.Novelty/Originality of This Study: This study offers an empirical contribution by examining the effectiveness of Scratch-based interactive learning in early childhood education through a quasi-experimental research design. It integrates digital game-based learning with measurable engagement and digital literacy outcomes, which remains limited in research on PAUD, particularly in real classroom contexts.
