Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of interest, motivation, and the social environment on students’ learning difficulties in Economics among Grade 10 students at SMAN 5 Padang, both partially and simultaneously. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach. The population consisted of 412 Grade 10 students, with a sample of 80 students selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 26. Hypotheses were tested using the t-test for partial effects and the F-test for simultaneous effects. The results show that interest does not have a significant effect on learning difficulties (coefficient 0.377; t-value 0.995 < t-table 1.992), while motivation has a significant effect (coefficient 0.427) and the social environment also has a significant effect (coefficient 0.509) on learning difficulties. Simultaneously, interest, motivation, and the social environment influence students’ learning difficulties. These findings indicate that learning motivation and a supportive social environment play an important role in reducing learning difficulties, whereas interest does not show a significant partial effect.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of WhatsApp social media use and learning motivation on students’ activeness in Economics for Grade X at SMA Negeri 5 Padang. This research employed a quantitative design with a population of all Grade X students. The sample consisted of 78 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression, along with t-tests and an F-test. The results indicate that WhatsApp use has a positive and significant effect on students’ activeness (b = 0.505; t = 3.436; p = 0.001), learning motivation also has a positive and significant effect (b = 0.543; t = 3.512; p < 0.001), and both variables simultaneously have a significant effect (F = 12.913; p < 0.001), with an explained variance contribution of R² = 0.656. It is recommended that WhatsApp be utilized as a learning medium—such as class groups, sharing learning materials, and structured discussions—supported by usage rules to prevent distractions, and that motivation-strengthening strategies (learning goals, feedback, and participation reinforcement) be implemented to enhance student activeness. Future studies should include additional variables beyond the current model and expand the sample and school context.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to see the effect of classroom management and variations in teacher teaching styles on student learning outcomes in class X economics at SMAN 5 Padang. This type of research is a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all class X students at SMAN 5 Padang. Sampling using the Proportionate Random Sampling technique, so the sample obtained was 80 students. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of classroom management (X_1) and variations in teacher teaching styles (X_2) on student learning outcomes (Y) in class X economics at SMAN 5 Padang. The significance value for the influence of (X_1) and (X_2) simultaneously on Y is 0.005 <0.05 and the F-count value is 4.894> Ftable 3.115. This shows that there is an effect of classroom management and variations in teacher teaching styles simultaneously on student learning outcomes (Y) in class X economics at SMAN 5 Padang

Abstract

Mathematical prior knowledge is a crucial foundation for students’ success in learning mathematics at the tertiary level. This study aims to map the prior mathematical abilities of students in the Mathematics Education Study Program based on Newman Error Analysis (NEA) and to identify the dominant types of errors that occur across various basic mathematics topics. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method with 16 first-semester students as participants. The instrument used was a prior mathematics ability test covering social arithmetic, algebra, geometry, circles, trigonometry, functions, and calculus. Data analysis was conducted in two stages: descriptive quantitative analysis to determine students’ levels of achievement, and NEA-based error analysis to classify errors into five categories, namely reading errors, comprehension errors, transformation errors, process skills errors, and encoding errors. The results show that students’ average achievement varied across topics, with the highest performance in social arithmetic (95.83%) and the lowest in functions (53.13%). The dominant errors identified were transformation errors and process skills errors, particularly in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and functions. These findings confirm that NEA is an effective diagnostic tool for identifying students’ cognitive barriers in mathematical problem solving and provides a basis for designing more adaptive and conceptually oriented instructional strategies.

Abstract

This study analyzes the partial and simultaneous effects of students’ perceptions of the Merdeka Curriculum and critical thinking skills on the economics learning outcomes of Phase E students at SMA Negeri 8 Padang. The research employed a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis. The population consisted of 348 students, with a sample of 186 students determined using the Slovin formula through random sampling. Data on perceptions of the Merdeka Curriculum and critical thinking skills were collected through questionnaires, while learning outcomes were obtained from documentation. The instruments were tested for validity and reliability, and prerequisite tests included normality, heteroscedasticity, homogeneity, multicollinearity, and linearity. Further analyses involved multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²), processed using SPSS version 25. The results show that students’ perceptions of the Merdeka Curriculum had a negative and significant effect on economics learning outcomes (t = –12.295; p = 0.000 < 0.05), interpreted as low perceptions being accompanied by higher outcomes due to increased independent learning efforts. Critical thinking skills had a positive and significant effect (t = 3.126; p = 0.002 < 0.05). Simultaneously, both variables had a significant effect on learning outcomes (F = 75.582; p = 0.000 < 0.05). The R² value of 0.452 indicates that 45.2% of the variance in economics learning outcomes is explained by the two variables, while the remaining 54.8% is influenced by other factors outside the study.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to identify the students’ perception through TikTok video in writing procedure text at second grade of SMKN 6 Padang. The students have three problems, some students were lazy to learn English, monotonous learning supported by books, many students lack of interested in writing procedure text. The sample of the data in this study was students of class culinary department at second grade of SMKN 6 Padang. The method in this study was descriptive qualitative research. The population was 32 students and the sample consists of total sample students. The data were obtained from the questionnaire, The researcher gave 20 items of statement which was from three indicators (title, material, step). Researcher used likert scale to data analysis. Based on the results of the questionnaire given, the researchers found that the students’ perception through TikTok video in writing procedure text at second grade of SMKN 6 Padang are in the strongly category with a percentage of 65.5%. It was indicated by the scientific fact that, in terms of titles 76.58% In terms of material, 75.84% students have a positive perception. Addition, 78.55% students had a positive perception of the step. The researcher concluded that students’ perception through TikTok video in writing procedure text was positive.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out the students’ skill and students' difficulties in writing argumentative essay. This research has been done on English Department students’ FKIP UNES Padang in the 2023/2024 academic years. The students’ had five problems, there were difficult to investigate a topic, difficult in organizing idea, lack of vocabulary, not understand the language features, and lack of mechanic. The method used in this study was quantitative research. The researcher found that the students' skill in English Department writing argumentative essay for four semester good category. It was indicated by the scientific fact that 2 students from 14 students had excellent category with a percentage (14.28%), 5 students from 14 students had very good category with a percentage (28,57%), there are 6 students from 14 students had good category with a percentage (50%), the next 1 students get fair category with a percentage (7%) and the poor category is not found by all the students. The researcher concluded that students writing skill in argumentative essay was 62% very good category.

Abstract

The research was to find out the students’ ability and students difficulties in performing hotel receptionist. This research was conducted at phase E Hospitality Department in SMK Negeri 6 Padang, the academic year 2023/2024. The students had three problems, there were lack of pronunciation, lack of grammar, and lack vocabulary. Based on those problems, the researcher analyzed students’ speaking ability in performing as hotel receptionist at Phase E Hospitality Department in SMK Negeri 6 Padang. The method of the research used is descriptive research. The population was 108 students from 3 classes, which are X PH 1, X PH 2, and X PH 3. In this case, X PH 3 was chosen as the research sample that consists of 36 students and the researcher used a sample random sampling technique. The research instrument used was a speaking test. In data collection technique the opportunity to perform as hotel receptionist in front of the class, while the data analysis technique is carried out by using speaking indicators. Based on the result to speaking test the researcher found that of the 28 of 36 are students present during the research process because 8 are students permission for its own reasons was and the researcher to find that the average of students has a moderate speaking ability indication of 60% in class X PH 3. Through these result find students difficulties in speaking, they are miss pronunciation, mastering grammar, and vocabulary. The researcher concluded the students speaking ability in performing as hotel receptionist was moderate.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ skills in writing announcement texts at SMA Ekasakti Padang. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method. The population of the study consisted of tenth-grade students of SMA Ekasakti Padang, and the sample was selected through random sampling. The instrument used was a writing test requiring students to compose an announcement text. The data were analyzed using a scoring rubric covering content, organization, vocabulary, grammar, and mechanics. The results show that students’ overall writing skill was at a moderate level. Students performed relatively well in content and organization, but they experienced difficulties in grammar and vocabulary. These findings indicate the need for more intensive writing practice and teacher feedback to improve students’ writing skills in announcement texts.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi peserta terhadap pelaksanaan pencak silat Persaudaraan Setia Hati Terate (PSHT) di Karya Mukti, Rokan Hilir. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Data diperoleh dari peserta pencak silat PSHT sebagai objek penelitian melalui metode survei menggunakan angket. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik persentase yang ditinjau dari tiga indikator, yaitu input, proses, dan output. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi peserta terhadap indikator input tergolong baik hingga sangat baik, yang mencakup aspek sarana dan prasarana, tenaga pengajar, serta kurikulum. Pada indikator proses, persepsi peserta berada pada kategori baik, ditinjau dari kesesuaian materi pembelajaran, penggunaan media, serta penerapan metode ceramah dan demonstrasi. Sementara itu, pada indikator output, persepsi peserta juga tergolong baik, yang tercermin dari harapan positif peserta setelah menyelesaikan latihan, seperti peningkatan kemampuan pencak silat dan keinginan untuk membagikan ilmu kepada masyarakat. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelaksanaan pencak silat PSHT di Karya Mukti, Rokan Hilir telah berjalan dengan baik ditinjau dari aspek input, proses, dan output.
