Abstract

The combination of nursing, medical, and surgical sciences is often integrated into medical surgical nursing science. Medical surgical nursing is a branch of nursing that combines medical and surgical sciences to provide comprehensive care to patients. This is because nurses are required to have knowledge and technical skills that are adaptive to today's health world. In order to optimize this, a holistic study is needed to identify gaps that need to be fixed, both in terms of practice, development, and education. However, there has been no research that examines these things. Therefore, this study aims to explain the multi-perspective study of medical surgical nursing with a literature review. The method used is a literature review with various literatures from Google Scholar. The results of the study show that most of the scientific literature that studies medical surgical nursing has supported studies from the perspective of development, assessment, and education. Some of this literature can be used as a basis for reviewing and evaluating the world of surgical nursing more comprehensively so that it can be improved according to the findings of field research.

Abstract

Women who are about to undergo childbirth via cesarean section often experience discomfort and anxiety. Excessive anxiety can reduce sleep duration and cause symptoms such as sweating, bloating, and shortness of breath. Based on data from Bengkalis Regional General Hospital (RSUD Bengkalis), there were 1,110 cases of cesarean deliveries recorded in 2023. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Al-Qur’an murrotal therapy in reducing anxiety levels in pre-cesarean section patients at RSUD Bengkalis. This research uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The population in this study consisted of women undergoing cesarean section, with a sample of 16 participants selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used was the HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) questionnaire, and the data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. The univariate analysis results showed that before receiving Al-Qur’an murrotal therapy, the majority of pre-cesarean section patients experienced moderate anxiety (75%). After the therapy was administered, anxiety levels decreased, with 81.3% of patients falling into the mild anxiety category. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significant effect of Al-Qur’an murrotal therapy in reducing anxiety levels in pre-cesarean section patients at RSUD Bengkalis, with a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05).

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant nutritional issue in Indonesia, primarily caused by inadequate dietary intake. Nutritional deficiencies in toddlers often result from insufficient breastfeeding and a lack of proper nutrition from complementary foods. This study aims to evaluate the impact of supplementary feeding (PMT) made from snakehead fish on the nutritional status of stunted toddlers aged 24–47 months. The research employed a total sampling method, involving 15 toddlers within the specified age range. Prior to the intervention, the respondents had an average body weight of 10.77 kg, categorized as severely underweight. Following the administration of snakehead fish-based PMT, their average weight increased to 12.33 kg, falling into the underweight category. Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant effect of the snakehead fish-based PMT in improving the nutritional status of stunted toddlers. These findings highlight the potential of local food sources, such as snakehead fish, to enhance maternal and child health efforts—particularly in addressing malnutrition through optimized use of locally sourced PMT in various preparations.

Abstract

Pregnancy lasts from ovulation to parturition for approximately 280 days (40 weeks) and no more than 300 days (approximately 43 weeks). In the first trimester of pregnancy, most women experience discomfort due to anatomical and physiological changes, such as nausea, vomiting, cravings, fainting, changes in the skin and breasts, anorexia, and increased frequency of urination. When entering the third trimester, many pregnant women begin to experience anxiety before giving birth. This study aims to determine the effect of peppermint aromatherapy on the level of anxiety of pregnant women in the third trimester in facing childbirth. The research method used is a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The sampling technique used is total sampling, and data analysis is carried out using the Wilcoxon test, a non-parametric test. The results of the study showed that there was a significant effect of peppermint aromatherapy in reducing the level of anxiety of pregnant women in the third trimester before giving birth, as evidenced by a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). Peppermint aromatherapy has been shown to be effective as a non-pharmacological intervention.

Therefore, improving the quality of health services is very crucial, not only in the medical aspect, but also in terms of communication and empathy of health workers to patients. This study aims to determine the description of the quality of service of registration staff at the outpatient polyclinic of General Hospital X, South Jakarta, in 2023, based on patient perceptions. This study is a quantitative study with a descriptive approach, conducted on 50 respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire covering five dimensions of SERVQUAL: Tangibles, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, and Empathy. Data analysis was carried out by presenting the frequency distribution and percentage of each service dimension. The results showed that: in the Tangibles dimension, 66% of respondents rated it good and 34% less good; Reliability, 70% good and 30% not good; Responsiveness, 52% good and 48% not good; Assurance, 72% good and 28% not good; and Empathy, 66% good and 34% less good. In conclusion, although most respondents rated the service of the registration staff as good, there are still aspects that need to be improved. Improving the overall quality of service, especially in the dimensions of Responsiveness and Empathy, is needed as a strategic step in an effort to increase patient satisfaction and loyalty.

Abstract

Social media provides benefits for teenagers, such as access to information, communication, and entertainment, but it also poses challenges, particularly addiction. This study analyzes its impact on mental health, sleep patterns, social interactions, academic performance, and consumer behavior through a literature review (2021–2025). The findings indicate that social media addiction increases the risk of anxiety, depression, and emotional disorders while also disrupting sleep patterns. Socially, direct interactions decrease, and communication skills decline. Academically, focus on learning weakens, and academic performance declines, while consumer behavior increases due to excessive social media exposure. In conclusion, uncontrolled use has significant negative effects, highlighting the need for proper management strategies.
