Abstract

Hadith epistemology is an important part of hadith science, which deals with the methodology of hadith collection, verification, and interpretation. The Shia view of hadith epistemology presents a unique perspective on the sources of hadith and their use in understanding religion and daily life. One of the main differences between Shia and Sunni in the epistemology of hadith is the emphasis on the authority of the Imam in explaining and understanding the meaning of hadith. According to Shia, the Imam is the inheritor of Prophet Muhammad's knowledge and has the authority to interpret the traditions correctly. Therefore, in Shia hadith epistemology, the Imam's authority is essential for understanding the meaning of the hadith. Shia also emphasize the role of reason and correlation in understanding hadith. Shia believe that reason is an important source of knowledge and should be used in the interpretation of traditions. Hence Shias reject the literal approach in understanding traditions and believe that traditions should be understood in their historical and social context. The Shi'a view on the epistemology of hadith is tolerant of differences of opinion in the interpretation of hadith. Shias believe that everyone has the right to interpret hadith according to their own understanding, as long as it does not contradict the basic principles of Islam. As a result, Shia hadith epistemology takes a different view on the sources of hadith and the use of hadith for understanding religion and daily life. Emphasis on the authority of the imam, the role of reason and rationality, and tolerance for differences of opinion characterize Shia hadith epistemology.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the technological innovations that is rapidly developing in various sectors of life. However, its use in modern society raises various questions regarding its suitability with religious principles, especially in the context of Islam. The background of this study is the need to examine the acceptance and fatwas of scholars regarding the use of AI, as well as the impact of its application on the social and moral life of Muslims. This study aims to analyze the Islamic perspective on AI by referring to the principle of ijma' of scholars, and to determine whether this technology is acceptable within the framework of sharia. The research method used is a qualitative approach with literature analysis from various fiqh sources, including tafsir, hadith, and fatwas of contemporary scholars, to explore how AI can be accepted in Islamic law. The results of the study show that, based on the principle of ijma' of scholars, AI that does not conflict with basic Islamic values and does not cause harm can be accepted, although it still requires supervision in its implementation to ensure compliance with sharia. The contribution of this research is to provide insight for policy makers, academics, and the general public about the Islamic view on technological innovation, as well as providing a clearer legal basis for implementing AI technology in everyday life in accordance with sharia principles.

Abstract

Islamic banking in Indonesia has shown rapid development in the last two decades. However, there are major challenges related to profitability as measured by Return on Assets (ROA). This study aims to analyze the effect of BOPO (Operational Costs to Operating Income), BI Rate, Non-Performing Financing (NPF), and Third Party Funds (DPK) variables on Return on Assets (ROA) in Islamic banking in Indonesia during the period 2019-2024. Quantitative methods with multiple linear regression are used to test the relationship between variables using financial report data published by the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The results of the study indicate that the BOPO and NPF variables have a negative effect on Return on Assets (ROA), while the BI Rate and DPK show no effect on ROA. The simultaneous test also proves that the independent variables affect Return on Assets ROA. These findings emphasize the importance of controlling operational costs and managing financing risks to increase the profitability of Islamic banks. The implications of the study indicate that optimizing operational efficiency and risk management can be key strategies in improving the financial performance of Islamic banking in Indonesia. This study contributes by showing that operational efficiency and financing risk management are essential to improving profitability in Islamic banking in Indonesia. In addition, this study also provides strategic insights for banks in improving their financial performance.
