Abstract

Islamic da'wah in Papua has high urgency considering that this region is one of the areas with a minority Muslim population in Indonesia. One of the figures who has an important role in Islamic propagation in Papua is Habib Mundzir Al-Musawa, he has made a significant contribution to the spread of Islamic values ​​in the Papua region, which is known for its cultural diversity. This research aims to examine the history of Habib Mundzir Al-Musawa's preaching in Papua, as well as analyzing his role in building the Muslim community in the region. Using a historical-qualitative approach, this research examines various written sources, interviews with local religious figures, and observations of the development of da'wah in Papua. The research results show that Habib Mundzir Al-Musawa plays an important role in building communication between religious communities, introducing peaceful Islamic teachings, and developing community-based preaching networks. Through lectures, knowledge assemblies and cultural approaches, he succeeded in bringing Islam closer to the Papuan people without eliminating local wisdom. Apart from that, his preaching also had an impact on the economic and social development of Muslims in Papua, especially in the aspects of education and welfare of the Muslim community. Thus, Habib Mundzir's role in preaching Islam in Papua does not only have a religious dimension but also a social and cultural one. This research provides new insight into inclusive da'wah strategies and the importance of a culturally based approach in spreading Islam in regions with high diversity such as Papua.

Abstract

Tadabbur Al-Qur'an is a term that describes the process of understanding, contemplating, and internalizing the contents of the Quran. This process requires an in-depth analysis of the divine revelation that is not only textual but also exploratory. However, in practice, tadabbur is often carried out without a systematic approach, resulting in a partial and less contextual understanding. In this regard, Maqasid Al-Qur'an, which is one of the approaches to revealing the intended meaning of the Quranic verses, serves as a crucial instrument in tadabbur to achieve a more comprehensive and relevant understanding of the Quranic teachings in contemporary life. This study aims to analyze the role of Maqasid Al-Qur'an in tadabbur to achieve a more holistic understanding of the Quranic teachings. This study employs a qualitative approach with literature analysis, focusing on primary sources in tafsir, Maqasid Al-Qur'an, and tadabbur. The data is analyzed using descriptive-analytical methods to explore the role of Maqasid in the tadabbur process. The findings of this study indicate that the Maqasid approach makes tadabbur more systematic and contextual, facilitating a deeper understanding of the spiritual, social, and moral values of the Quran. Furthermore, this study emphasizes that understanding based on Maqasid provides more relevant insights in addressing modern challenges. This study contributes to strengthening the integration between Maqasid Al-Qur'an and tadabbur, which can serve as a systematic approach in Quranic interpretation.

Abstract

Child custody (Hadhanah) is a crucial issue in Islamic law, particularly when a mother with custody remarries. Differences in scholars' opinions and the varying decisions of religious courts in Indonesia highlight the need for an in-depth analysis through the perspective of maqashid syariah. This study aims to examine child custody for remarried mothers by emphasizing the protection of life (hifz an-nafs), lineage (hifz an-nasl), and child welfare. The research employs a qualitative approach using library research and comparative analysis of scholars' views and court rulings. The findings indicate that custody decisions should not solely rely on classical legal texts but must also consider the child's well-being. This study contributes by providing a more comprehensive understanding of child custody in Islam and offering recommendations for policymakers and legal practitioners to apply maqashid syariah principles in custody cases, ensuring decisions prioritize the best interests of the child.

Abstract

Philosophy is understood as a discipline that investigates the nature of reality, addresses human experiences, and seeks to provide solutions to challenges across various fields. The philosophy of unity of science serves as a foundational concept, emphasizing the interrelatedness of all scientific disciplines. This research aims to explore and analyze the Philosophy of the Unity of Science as a conceptual foundation in the context of education at UIN Walisongo Semarang. The research method in this article is a literature study, with data collected through observation and documentation related to the Philosophy of Unity of Science course. The results of the study show that the application of the Paradigm of Unity of Science at UIN Walisongo has a positive impact on education, thus allowing students to develop a holistic understanding of the relationship between religion, science, and society. The implications of the Philosophy of Unity of Science in learning practice involve deep conceptual understanding, integration of cross-disciplinary knowledge, development of cross-disciplinary skills, and holistic thinking. This research makes a significant contribution to the understanding of the concept of the Philosophy of Unity of Science and its implications in the context of higher education, illustrating its relevance and potential to form a generation of adaptive and insightful leaders in the face of the complexities of the modern world. The conclusion of this study provides an in-depth understanding of how the Philosophy of Unity of Science can contribute to the development of the curriculum, learning approach, and character formation of students at UIN Walisongo Semarang.

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in the development of human civilization, particularly during the Fatimid Dynasty, which ruled from 909 to 1171 AD. This dynasty is renowned for its efforts in establishing educational institutions such as Al-Azhar University, which is considered one of the oldest higher education institutions in the Islamic world and significantly impacted the development of knowledge in Egypt. This study aims to explore the contributions of education during the Fatimid era and its effects on the advancement of knowledge and Islamic culture. The research employs a library study method, allowing the researcher to compile and analyze various documented sources related to education in this period. The findings indicate that the strong support from the Fatimid Dynasty for the advancement of knowledge resulted in the establishment of educational institutions and progress in fields such as philosophy, hadith, fiqh, and linguistics. This research emphasizes the vital role of education in building Islamic civilization and how the educational policies of the Fatimid Dynasty contributed to the widely recognized development of knowledge within the Islamic community.

Abstract

Human resource development (HRD) plays a crucial role in improving the quality of Islamic education at Pondok Pesantren Ummul Quro As-Suyuty, considering the challenges faced by educational institutions in delivering quality education. The emerging issues include budget constraints, minimal facilities, and a lack of focus among educators pursuing further education. This study aims to analyze HRD in enhancing educational quality at the pesantren. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive cross-sectional design. The findings indicate that HRD is implemented through training, coaching, and providing opportunities for educators to innovate, despite encountering obstacles related to funding and infrastructure. This study contributes by offering an in-depth understanding of HRD practices in pesantren that can effectively enhance the quality of Islamic education.

Abstract

In today’s dynamic era, Islamic education (PAI) in Indonesia faces serious challenges such as increasing corruption, violence, and deviant behavior among students. Society needs educational solutions that not only educate academically but also form strong religious and moral characters so that relationships between people can be more harmonious. In this context, the concept of education that is integrative and responsive to Islamic values ​​is very important to build a young generation with noble character. This study aims to explore and analyze the concept of the PAI curriculum based on Muhaimin’s perspective and its relevance in contemporary education. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this study analyzes various literature sources to gain in-depth insights. The results of the study indicate that PAI education must adapt to modern learning methods such as problem-based learning and contextual teaching and learning to encourage the development of students’ soft skills. This study makes a significant contribution to the development of a relevant PAI curriculum and answers the challenges of Islamic education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Pesantrens as Islamic educational institutions are ideal if their education system teaches spiritual activities and worship, including pre-worship activities with wudhu. This research examines the application of Pesantren education in improving the wudhu skills of students in the small Pesantren Hidayatun Najah Samiran Proppo Pamekasan. The study used a qualitative method with a case study approach at the small Pesantren Hidayatun Najah. The data sources used are the person in charge of the eastern boarding school, administrators and students, while the secondary data sources are data that supports the main source. Data collection in this study was interviews, observation and documentation, data analysis was carried out using a process of data condensation, data presentation and drawing conclusions. In checking the validity of the data, this study used source triangulation to compare data obtained from various informants to strengthen the validity of the data. The results of this research show that the Hidayatun Najah small cottage improves wudhu skills using theory-based teaching and instruction, the implementation of both activities is carried out based on the activity structure in the small cottage. The most important finding in this study is the implementation of learning in small huts, namely by using theoretical and practical models in improving students' wudhu skills. This study can be a reference medium for Pesantrens in improving wudhu skills for their students.

Abstract

Curriculum management is one of the crucial aspects of managing Islamic educational institutions. In the context of modern education, the challenges of globalization, digitalization, and the demand for curriculum relevance to societal needs are increasing. Innovation in curriculum management based on Islamic values serves as a strategic solution to address these challenges. This study aims to explore the concept, implementation, and impact of curriculum management innovation based on Islamic values in enhancing the relevance of education in Islamic educational institutions. The research method employed is library research, analyzing relevant academic sources. The findings indicate that integrating Islamic values, such as tauhid (monotheism), akhlaq (ethics), ukhuwah (brotherhood), and maslahah (public interest), into curriculum management can create a holistic learning system, shape students' character, and ensure educational relevance to contemporary demands and community needs. A curriculum designed based on Islamic values is not only oriented towards academic achievement but also aims to develop individuals with strong spirituality, 21st-century skills, and readiness to contribute to multicultural societies. Thus, curriculum management innovation based on Islamic values becomes a strategic key to making Islamic educational institutions more adaptive, relevant, and maintaining their Islamic identity amidst globalization.

Abstract

The concept of the seven heavens in the Qur’an and Hadith is an important phenomenon that has attracted the attention of scholars and the general public throughout Islamic history. While the Qur’an mentions the seven heavens as an affirmation of Allah’s greatness, explanations regarding the guardian prophets of the heavens are more extensively found in Hadith through the event of Isra and Mi'raj. This research aims to explore the concept of the seven heavens and their guardian prophets in the context of the Qur’an and Hadith using historical and theological approaches. The research method employed is qualitative study with descriptive analysis. The findings indicate that various interpretations of the seven heavens emerge among scholars, including literal and symbolic interpretations, illustrating the limitations of human knowledge. This study also emphasizes the importance of dialogue between the interpretation of the Qur’an and modern knowledge. The contribution of this research is to enrich the theological and cosmological understanding of Muslims regarding the concept of the seven heavens while demonstrating its relevance in contemporary scientific contexts.
