Abstract

This community service activity aims to identify and understand the problems faced by the residents of Pelawi Utara Subdistrict and to formulate appropriate and applicable solutions. The main focus of the program is on strengthening interpersonal communication and developing work-related skills among community members as essential components of social and economic capital. Communication plays a strategic role in delivering accurate information and fostering harmonious social relations among residents. Meanwhile, work skills are positioned as competencies that can be enhanced to produce valuable and productive outputs. Geographically, Pelawi Utara is located in a midland area and is surrounded by other subdistricts within the Babalan District, Langkat Regency. The outcomes of the program indicate the development of more positive and active communication among residents, which is manifested through artistic works resulting from skill development activities. The impact of this initiative includes improvements in community living standards and the strengthening of social cohesion, supported by the active involvement of local government officials as facilitators and intermediaries between stakeholders.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase public understanding of how to reduce the impact of noise and carbon emissions from motor vehicles. Noise and carbon emissions from motor vehicles are environmental problems that are increasing along with the growth in the number of vehicles in urban and rural areas. These impacts not only affect air quality, but also the physical and psychological health of the community. This community service activity aims to empower the community in reducing the impact of noise and carbon emissions from motor vehicles through education, training, and concrete actions based on community participation. The implementation methods include socialization of the impacts of noise and emissions, training on environmentally friendly vehicle maintenance, and campaigns promoting the use of alternative modes of transportation such as bicycles, walking, or public transportation. The results of the activity showed an increase in community knowledge and awareness of environmental issues and the formation of self-help groups that play an active role in campaigning for environmentally friendly behavior. With this program, the community is able to contribute to reducing noise and air pollution, while supporting the creation of a healthier and more sustainable environment.

Abstract

Women play a strategic role in sustaining household livelihoods and strengthening local economies in coastal areas. This community service program aims to empower women entrepreneurs through strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) based on local wisdom in Desa Kota Pari, Pantai Cermin District. Most women in this coastal village are involved in home-based economic activities such as traditional food processing, fisheries-based products, and small-scale trading. However, limited financial literacy, income management, and market access constrain business development. The program was implemented through observation, counseling, participatory discussions, and evaluation. The results show improved understanding of income management, increased awareness of business sustainability, and strengthened economic roles of women entrepreneurs. This program confirms that empowering women through MSMEs contributes significantly to strengthening local economic resilience in coastal communities.
