Abstract

MTs AL Munawarah is one of the madrasas under the auspices of the Al Munawarah Islamic Boarding School in Jombang Regency. The curriculum used in the teaching and learning process at this madrasa is the K13 curriculum. This curriculum is very helpful for teachers in developing learning materials in terms of material exploration to how to present the exercises used. The researchers here want to help develop the teaching materials used in accordance with the characteristics of the k13 curriculum. From this development, new K13-based teaching materials emerged that could be used by teachers, especially Arabic teachers. This research approach using developmental (R & D) for Borg and Gall theory consists of: (1) preliminary study, (2) planning, (3) hypothetical model development, (4) hypothetical model review, (5) revision, (6 ) limited trial, (7) revision of test results. From the previous statement, the researchers determined the formulation of the problem: (1) How to prepare reading learning teaching materials using a scientific approach at MTS Al Munawarah Diwek - Jombang. and (2) the characteristics of the preparation of teaching materials for learning to read using a scientific approach at MTS Al Munawarah Diwek - Jombang. Based on the assessment of design experts obtained 88.3% very good standard. The expert's assessment of the content of the book obtained a very good standard of 81.53%. The assessment of the student and teacher questionnaires came in at 90%, which is at the level of "very good." This case shows that this book is very good to use in teaching Arabic from the results of assessments and suggestions from experts and also from the responses of teachers and students.

Abstract

This study analyzes illocutionary act in political debate that was conducted by general election commision on March, 30 2019. This debate was about ideology, government, security and defense, and international relationship. In this research, Searle’s theory was used who classified five types of illocutionary act; representative, directive, commisive, expressive, and declarative. This research used descriptive qualitative. The main focus of this study is to get deep understanding and interpretation how the politicians argue each other using illocutionary act. The results of this study suggested that both of the candidates of president did not use all of the illocutionary act types proposed by Searle. The three illocutionary acts used by both of the candidates are, representative, directive, commissive. Meanwhile, another type of illocutionary acts used by one of the candidates is declarative, while another one used expressive.

Abstract

Learning the speaking skill needs practice and a correct example from the teacher. Then, the Islamic Higher Institute Dar al-Qur’an Payakumbuh using the native speaker to teach the speaking skill at that institute. This research aims to find out the implementation of the process of learning the speaking skill with a native speaker, its advantages and disadvantages. The research method used in this research is the descriptive method with qualitative approach analysis. The results of this research are: The first: The process of teaching and learning the speaking skill with the native speaker at the Islamic Higher Institute Dar Al-Qur’an Payakumbuh is implemented to the beginner level. The second: The advantages of learning the speaking skill with the native speaker, including: The students found the example of correct pronunciation from vocabulary and speaking with correct accent, intonation,vocabulary, phrases and styles of the famous Arabic language and used by Arabs. Also, by learning the speaking skill with native speaker, the students found exciting, enthusiastic, and encouraged to upgrade their ability to speak, and the third: disadvantages of learning the speaking skill with the native speaker, which is especially for beginners in the Arabic language, they are difficult to understand the explanation from the teacher because of his speed in speaking, and lack of their Arabic vocabularies, and lack of their comprehension in grammar and morphology.

Abstract

Vocabulary was an important component of the language as it contained on it the meanings and use of words in the language from the speaker himself or the writer. One of the methods used to teach Arabic vocabulary in the public middle school Al-Furqan Jambar is to use the book “Tarjoman of the Qur’an, meaning a phrase about the course used in the recitation and memorization program of the Qur’an for the applicants. According to the curriculum of my mother in Surabaya. From this book, everything benefits from understanding the Arabic vocabulary used to understand the Qur’an and its meanings. This research aims 1) to know the process of memorizing Arabic vocabulary through the book “Tarjoman of the Qur’an” Public Intermediate School Al-Furqan Jumper 2) To find out the problem of teaching Arabic vocabulary memorization through the book of Qur’an translators in the public middle school Al Furqan Jumper. As for the research approach that the researcher used, it is the qualitative entrance with the type of field research, and the method of data collection used is the documentary method, the observation and the personal interview. As for the results obtained by the researcher, they are: 1) The process of teaching Arabic vocabulary memorization through the Qur'an translator book depends on a method called “Umayy”, which is the course curriculum used in the public middle school Al Furqan, where the step consisting of seven steps was applied The educational process is as follows: opening and perception by coherence, consolidating the concept, understanding the concept, practice / skills, evaluation and seals. To facilitate the process of memorizing vocabulary for students, tones were used in teaching the Qur’an translators. 2) One of the problems that students face when memorizing Arabic vocabulary is that they do not carry Arabic while teaching the Quran. In addition, when the holiday came, the students' memorization worsened and he was unable to repeat it until the teacher needed to give them the opportunity to repeat memorization as much as the week.

Abstract

The changes within globalization are very dynamic and difficult to be predicted. For this reason it requires an organization or institution to provide maximum service. In this, Indonesia should be prepared for different strategies in various working areas. One of them is the implementation of Integrated Quality Management or also known as Total Quality Management (TQM). There are many key terms related to the study of Total Quality Management such as joint improvement and quality improvement i.e. continuous quality improvement. In this research, the researcher focuses on how to analyze Total Quality Management (TQM) in operational management witihin the Arabic language course Al-Azhar. This study aimed to determine the extent of applying TQM in the Al-Azhar course in improving the quality of students. This study implemented the qualitative research. To collect data, the researcher used interviews, notes, field notes, and documentation which includes personal documents, official documents, and data sources. The results of this study suggested that the floral cycle Barry carried out the total quality management in some of these ways such as; first, the customer value strategy, providing value to customers including product characteristics, delivery methods, and services; secondly, the organizational systems theory, focusing on providing value to customers; third, the theory of quality improvement, emphasizing on how to deal with the constantly changing external environment, especially the changing tastes of customers.

Abstract

This paper is written in a form of library research and its purpose is to search ideas in giving description of how English lecturer able to develop students’ writing skill using narrative writing. The writer selects four types of narrative to improve students’ writing skill after reading several theories from scholars and analyzing their ideas on the application of four narratives. By applying four types of narrative, university students in Indonesia will have better understanding in writing good narrative compositions. And they will also learn how to express their ideas and write them smoothly in the form of narrative writing. Furthermore, the variety of passages in these narrative writings can motivate students to create interesting writing since the nature of these narratives are reflecting their experience directly. In this library research, the writer finds out several advantages which can be obtained from these four narratives. The advantages students can get such as, learn to arrange chronological order inside their writing, expressing experience in dramatic ways, showing the dynamic interpersonal relationships, and increasing their possession for new vocabularies relatively help students to make good narrative writing.

Abstract

The students of EFL Classroom sometimes find difficulty in writing. The students difficulty in writing caused by the gate between the students’ L1 and L2 and the lack of supported information related to the source of idea for writing. Teaching media are to solve the problems especially in writing. This study is aimed at using films, especially the characters, as media in improving students’ ability in writing recount. The subject of the study were 30 numbers of 10th graders of vocational school students. The findings showed that the average of the pre-test and post-test scores were 67.53 and 83.63. The improvement calculation was found 0.496 which was categorized as medium. The calculation of applying the t-test was on rejection area of ??Ho, showed that the post-test was better than the pre-test. According to the data analysis, the writer concludes that the strategy by using films is applicable since it helps students to solve their problem in writing recount. The media enable the students to actively engage to the learning process and improve their ability in writing for they give them the idea of writing recount.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has stopped face-to-face learning in schools and switched to using online learning. This study aims to find out the use of video based learning in teaching English in schools during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used the literature method by collecting and conducting in-depth literature studies. In various studies they were stated that learning by videos have been proven to be able to help teachers and students effectively in encouraging the development of new strategy in the classroom. The result of the study shows that the use of video as a media in English learning has a positive effect and can improve cognitive abilities, learning performances, developing interests, motivation and better understanding of the concept of the lesson being taught.

Abstract

English is one of the existing languages in this world. Speaking is one of the important skills in English. A priority for many second language or foreign language learners is the mastery of speaking. Speaking is one of the indicators that someone understands English. As a foreign language, English tends to be difficult to be learnt by foreign language learners. The researcher aimed to find out if the use of inquiry-based learning method can improve the students’ speaking skill at the tenth-grade students of vocational high school. This research used classroom action research (CAR). The cycles of this research were planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The method used in collecting the data was a test. The research result of students’ pre test was 66.6. Meanwhile the students’ post test result was 72.2. In conclusion inquiry based learning method improved speaking skill at the tenth grade students of vocational high school.

Abstract

The contract between teacher and student or what is often called as teacher-student agreement is one of the class management in applying student discipline. Good class management, especially in student discipline, is considered important in creating a conducive learning atmosphere. In conventional learning, teacher and student contracts regarding student discipline are related to how students' attitudes in participating in learning, such as students not being allowed to go around the class while learning is taking place, students are not allowed to be busy with other things besides those related to learning and others. At this time, when online learning or distance learning is applied, of course this contract is also undergoing changes. There is a disciplinary agreement between the teacher and students that adapts to distance learning conditions. This study aims to identify the learning discipline contract between students and teachers in distance learning. Questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data. The data were analysed descriptively to get a description of the agreement between teachers and students in online learning and the type of agreement that commonly used. The findings show that the most widely regulation is related to student’s obedience in following teacher’s instruction in online class. This study also revealed that learning contract is an effective way to create a successful online learning based on teacher’s perspectives.
