Abstract

Based on the observations results, the learners had difficulty in exploring their ideas. They took more time and could only write some sentences. Another barrying that students faced was that they could not write well-organized paragraphs. The students also often had difficulty in learning grammar, especially English tenses. Lack of vocabulary mastery was also the cause of writing difficulties. They stated that writing in English was difficult and complicated. That’s why the researchers used classroom action research to apply picture serias as media. It was conducted by two cycles.The subjects were seventeen students of tenth grade science student at Banyuwangi. To get the data, the researchers used observation, interview, and test. The research result could be stated that using the picture series improved the learners’ writing narrative text competence. They could improve their writing gradually from the first cycle to the second one. The picture series that implemented significantly improved their skill in English writing.

Abstract

Learning English cannot be separated from reading skills. Explanatory text is one type of English text in reading skills. This text introduces students to natural events or phenomena that are often studied by students of natural science programs. The purpose of this study is to improve the students' ability to read explanatory texts with a scientific approach using video. This study used classroom action research with cycle stages consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data collection techniques used were observation with field notes, documents, and written tests. Findings suggest that the scientific approach using video improved the students' skills to read explanatory texts. It was proved that the average result of the pre-cycle was 70 and the average result of the first cycle was 75.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the problems that exist in learning Islamic Cultural History at SD Plus Al-Ishlah Bondowoso. In this study, researchers used descriptive qualitative research that emphasises the use of field data. The results of research conducted by researchers with a qualitative approach method and using data collection techniques with interviews, observations, and documentation on learning Islamic cultural history at SD Plus Al-Ishlah Bondowoso there are obstacles. Some of the obstacles experienced by educators and students in learning Islamic cultural history include; the lack of time allocation given to the subject of Islamic Cultural History, the method used by the Islamic Cultural History teacher is still monotonous, namely by using the lecture method, the diverse understanding of students in the learning process, and students cannot concentrate in receiving the material taught.

Abstract

Learning grammar, particularly understanding tenses, poses challenges for students, often leading to boredom during lessons. To address this, researchers propose integrating new media, such as stick puppets, into grammar instruction to enhance student engagement. The aim is to cultivate enthusiasm, involvement, and a deeper understanding of English grammar. This study was conducted as Classroom Action Research (CAR) with tenth grade students of SMKN 3 Jember. It explored the efficacy of stick puppets as an alternative method to improve Grammar Comprehension. This research was spanning one cycle with three implementation meetings and a post-test. It utilized various data collection techniques was included; grammar scores, teacher observations, interviews, student questionnaires, and classroom observation sheets. From the implementation of stick puppets, the findings revealed notable improvement in the Grammar Comprehension of tenth-grade students at SMKN 3 Jember with a 95.65% success rate. The students demonstrated increased proficiency across vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar usage, and content which indicated that stick puppets not only enhanced comprehension but also fostered active participation and student interest.

Abstract

English learning in Indonesia, especially at the junior high school level has various obstacles. One of these obstacles is that students find it difficult in learning present continuous tense because students think that present continuous tense is similar to present tense. The aimed of this research is to describe students' difficulties in learning present continuous tense. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects of this study were 4 students consist of 2 female and 2 male nineth grade students of Al-Fattah Junior High School, Jember The instruments used include observation, interview and document review. The data obtained were analyzed using source triangulation and technique triangulation methods. The results of this study show that students have difficulty in making example sentences using the present continuous tense, difficulty in understanding the meaning of the present continuous tense pattern.

Abstract

English is one of the existing languages in this world. Speaking is one of the important skills in English. A priority for many second language or foreign language learners is the mastery of speaking. Speaking is one of the indicators that someone understands English. As a foreign language, English tends to be difficult to be learnt by foreign language learners. The researcher aimed to find out if the use of inquiry-based learning method can improve the students’ speaking skill at the tenth-grade students of vocational high school. This research used classroom action research (CAR). The cycles of this research were planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The method used in collecting the data was a test. The research result of students’ pre test was 66.6. Meanwhile the students’ post test result was 72.2. In conclusion inquiry based learning method improved speaking skill at the tenth grade students of vocational high school.

Abstract

Pronunciation is the way a letter, word, or language is spoken. It involves how a speaker produces sounds, stress, rhythm, and intonation in speech. Some English learners have difficulty with pronunciation since English is considered to be a foreign language in Indonesia. This research aims to show that watching English native speakers’ YouTube channel can improve students’ pronunciation ability. The researcher applied Classroom Action Research and it needed two cycles (four meetings). The criteria of success were that the students achieve the minimum standard or average score, which was equal to or greater than 70%. The students’ pretest score was 35% (very poor) and the result of the interview with the English teacher suggested that the students could not pronounce accurately since they rarely practice and never learn from native speakers. The first posttest score was 57,5% (very poor). The second posttest score was 87% (very good). It showed that the students’ score was increase and achieve the minimum standard. It could be concluded that watching English native speakers’ YouTube channel is an effective way to improve the students’ pronunciation ability.

Abstract

English lessons in Indonesia still have various problems as it serves as a foreign language (EFL). This research aimed to solve elementary students problems in learning English by introducing the memory match game technique. Conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Hidayah in Jember, the study utilises Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology, emphasising a cyclical process of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The collaborative approach involves the researcher as the English teacher employing the memory match game, with the real English teacher serving as an observer. Results indicate that 71.43% of class IV students actively participated in the game, showcasing engagement without seeking assistance, while 28.57% appeared less active. The study highlights the potential efficacy of the memory match game technique in early English language education and calls for continued research to enhance teaching and learning practices.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi kesulitan pemahaman siswa kelas III Inklusif di SD Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyah Jember dalam pembelajaran tematik tema pertumbuhan dan perkembangan makhluk hidup. Data dari 25 siswa menunjukkan bahwa 80% mengalami kesulitan dengan metode konvensional, sedangkan 90% membutuhkan inovasi, khususnya media berbasis flipbook digital. Sebanyak 85% siswa menyukai media digital, dan 83% tertarik pada ilustrasi menarik. Lebih dari 90% setuju dengan pengembangan Flipbook Digital sebagai media pembelajaran.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan ADDIE, dengan instrumen validasi dan angket respon siswa. Analisis data melibatkan penilaian ahli, persentase hasil angket, dan desain one-group pretest posttest. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan pemahaman siswa kelas III Inklusif terhadap tema pertumbuhan dan perkembangan makhluk hidup melalui media pembelajaran berbasis flipbook digital.Kata kunci: Flipbook Digital, Media, Pembelajaran Tematik Terpadu                                                                   Abstract This study aims to overcome the difficulty of understanding class III Inclusive students at Al-Irsyad Al-Islamiyah Jember Elementary School in thematic learning on the theme of growth and development of living things. Data from 25 students showed that 80% had difficulty with conventional methods, while 90% needed innovation, especially digital flipbook-based media. As many as 85% of students like digital media, and 83% are interested in interesting illustrations. More than 90% agreed with the development of Digital Flipbooks as learning media. This study used the ADDIE research and development method, with validation instruments and student response questionnaires. Data analysis involved expert judgment, percentage of questionnaire results, and one-group pretest posttest design. Abstract

Abstrakpenelitian ini berfokus pada desain media english vocabulary pictures card yang ditujukan untuk kelas IV-A di MIN 6 Jembrana Bali untuk mengajarkan kosa kata berbahasa inggris. perlunya pengembangan media pembelajaran yang menunjang pembelajaran bahasa inggris menarik dan tidak hanya itu media yang digunakan untuk mengajarkan bahasa inggris pada kelas IV-A min 6 jembrana sudah tidak layak digunakan maka dari itu peneliti mengembangkan media english vocabulary pictures card. namun pada penelitian hanya berfokus pada desain media. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan atau lebih dikenal dengan istilah Development Research dengan menggunakan model ADDIE. Alat pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara, angket dan dokumentasi. Sumber data dalam penelitian dibagi menjadi data kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Desain Media English Vocabulary Pictures card dibuat berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan yang mencakup karakteristik peserta didik dan ketertarikan peserta didik terhadap media pembelajaran Kata kunci: Kosakata Bahasa Inggris, Media Kartu, Pembelajaran Kosakata. Abstractthis research focuses on the design of media english vocabulary pictures cards aimed at class IV-A at MIN 6 Jembrana Bali to teach English vocabulary. the need for the development of learning media that supports interesting English learning and not only that the media used to teach English in class IV-A min 6 jembrana is not suitable for use, therefore researchers developed media english vocabulary pictures cards. but the research only focuses on media design. The research method used in this research is research and development or better known as Development Research using the ADDIE model. Data collection tools in this research are observation, interview, questionnaire and documentation. Data sources in the study are divided into qualitative and quantitative data. The design of English Vocabulary Pictures card Media is made based on the needs analysis which includes the characteristics of students and students' interest in learning media. Keywords: English Vocabulary, Card Media, Teach Vocabulary.
