Abstract

This study examines whether exposure to TikTok's For You Page shapes the communication behavior of university students as emerging human capital. The study employed a quantitative explanatory design using a survey method involving 106 students from private universities in Depok City, Indonesia. Data were collected via an online questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) in SmartPLS 4. The model tested the effect of TikTok For You Page exposure on students' communication behavior, including language style, self-expression, interaction patterns, communication responses, and digital communication practices. The results show that TikTok For You Page exposure did not significantly influence students' communication behavior, as indicated by a t-statistic of 0.974 and a p-value of 0.330. The R-square value of 0.146 indicates that TikTok exposure explained only 14.6% of the variance in communication behavior, while the remaining variance was influenced by other factors outside the model. These findings suggest that communication behavior is shaped not only by media exposure intensity but also by digital literacy, social environment, content type, and individual interpretation. The study contributes to current discussions in digital media and human capital research.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of crisis management handling on corporate reputation and customer trust in urban public transportation, focusing on KAI Commuter users among university students in Jabodetabek. Public transportation disruptions, such as delays, overcrowding, operational failures, and unclear information, may erode passengers' confidence and damage an organization's reputation if not managed effectively. Using a quantitative explanatory survey design, data were collected from 150 university students who actively used KAI Commuter services and had experience or knowledge of service disruptions. The variables were measured using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed with simple linear regression. The findings indicate that crisis management handling has a positive and significant effect on corporate reputation, with a regression coefficient of 0.721 and an R² value of 0.556. Crisis management handling also positively and significantly affects customer trust, with a regression coefficient of 0.760 and an R² value of 0.521. These results suggest that rapid response, transparent information, empathy, appropriate solutions, and service improvement are essential in maintaining reputation and strengthening trust in commuter rail services. The study contributes to the literature on crisis communication, service recovery, and public transportation management in Indonesian metropolitan mobility.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Sundanese ethnic music as a living cultural heritage that contributes to community well-being, the creative economy, and the development of cultural tourism in Kelapa Nunggal, Bogor, Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, and NVivo-assisted thematic analysis involving cultural actors at Saung Kalinga. The findings show that Sundanese ethnic music, including Tarawangsa, Karinding, Suling, and gamelan buhun, is not merely perceived as entertainment but as a medium of cultural communication, emotional expression, intergenerational knowledge transmission, and local identity strengthening. Community preferences toward this music are shaped by family memories, childhood experiences, cultural familiarity, social environment, and the calming character of traditional sounds. The study further reveals three interconnected pathways through which ethnic music supports development: an emotional pathway that promotes comfort and stress relief, a cultural pathway that preserves meaning and identity, and a social pathway that encourages participation and collective belonging. These pathways create opportunities for creative performances, cultural products, heritage education, and authentic tourism experiences. The study concludes that Sundanese ethnic music can become a culturally rooted strategy for inclusive and sustainable local development in contemporary rural communities.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Instagram-based school marketing communication on students' school choice decisions, with school brand image as a mediating variable. Using an explanatory quantitative approach, data were collected through a cross-sectional survey of 150 students at SMAN 3 South Jakarta who had seen or were aware of the school's Instagram content. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The measurement model showed that all indicators met the criteria for convergent validity, construct reliability, and discriminant validity. The structural model revealed that Instagram-based school promotion had a positive and significant effect on school brand image and students' school choice decisions. School brand image also had a positive and significant effect on students' decisions. Furthermore, the indirect effect test confirmed that brand image partially mediated the relationship between Instagram promotion and school choice decisions. These findings indicate that Instagram functions not only as an informative promotional channel but also as a strategic communication medium for shaping school image, strengthening students' perceptions, and influencing educational decision-making

Abstract

Movies play an important role in shaping public perspectives and mindsets. Currently, many films address gender issues by portraying women as weak and powerless figures. One example of female representation can be found in the character Ancika in the film Ancika: Dia yang Bersamaku 1995. This film presents Ancika’s mindset and actions in dealing with seduction from motorcycle gang members and young entrepreneurs. This study aims to analyze the representation of independent women in the film using Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis, which includes the aspects of denotation, connotation, and myth. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation and documentation by capturing screenshots of selected scenes related to the research focus. The data were analyzed to identify the meanings of female independence represented through Ancika’s character. The results show that 15 scenes represent independent women in the film Ancika: Dia yang Bersamaku 1995. These representations are reflected through Ancika’s courage, assertiveness, ability to make decisions, and self-control in responding to her social environment.

Abstract

The development of digital media has changed the way educational institutions communicate with the public. Instagram is one of the platforms utilized by schools to deliver information while simultaneously building institutional image through social media content. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Marketing Public Relations (MPR) strategies in the Instagram content of SMA Negeri 1 Nguntoronadi during the 2026 New Student Admission System (SPMB). This research employed a descriptive method with a qualitative approach using content analysis techniques. The research data were obtained from 21 official Instagram posts of @sman1nguntoronadi related to the 2026 SPMB activities. The analysis was conducted by categorizing the content based on three MPR strategies, namely Push Strategy, Pass Strategy, and Pull Strategy. Abstract

The Melasti Ceremony is a significant purification ritual for the self and the universe performed by the Hindu community prior to Nyepi Day at Balekambang Beach, Malang Regency. This research aims to describe the origins, procedures, ceremonial equipment (ubarampe), societal perspectives, functions, and changes of the Melasti tradition through a folklore study. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with religious and community leaders. Findings reveal that the Melasti tradition at Balekambang has been practiced since the early 1980s, serving as a vital means of spiritual purification (bhuana alit and bhuana agung) and a forum for strengthening cultural identity. The ritual sequence, from Mendhak Toya Anyar to Larung Jolen, reflects the Hindu philosophy of harmony and gratitude. Despite technological adaptations and modifications in offering presentations, the sacred essence of the ritual remains preserved based on the Tri Hita Karana concept. This study implies that preserving local wisdom is essential for social solidarity and local economic development through religious tourism. It recommends sustainable preservation by actively involving the younger generation in cultural management.

Abstract

The development of audiovisual media in the digital era has driven video features to become an effective medium for delivering educational, cinematic, and emotional information. This Final Project is entitled “The Application Of Directing In Constructing A Visual Narrative In The Feature Video ‘Controlling The Air Through the Balance Of Aeromodelling Flight Techniques’”. This work is motivated by the lack of audiovisual media that deeply explores the technical process of aeromodeling, particularly regarding aircraft balance and flight stability. The purpose of creating this work is to design a creative visual concept and storytelling arc, implement the director's role in precisely guiding camera movements and audio-visual arrangements, and enhance public understanding of basic aerodynamic principles through a cinematic presentation. The creative production methodology was carried out through three main stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. The pre-production stage included creative concept design, technical research, treatment development, and shotlist determination. The production stage was executed by directing the filming of manufacturing activities at the GACC Cimahi workshop, expert interviews, and flight testing at Lanud Sulaiman. The post-production stage involved supervising visual editing, directing voice-over recording, sound design, color grading, and refining the storytelling rhythm. The final result demonstrates that the director plays a pivotal role in translating aerospace technical complexities into an informative, communicative visual display with deep human interest. Through a video feature approach, this work successfully delivers a harmony between technical accuracy and cinematic aesthetics for the audience.

Abstract

The high frequency of flight delays at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport creates crucial challenges in information coordination for frontline staff. This study aims to analyze internal communication patterns between Lion Air's leadership and boarding gate staff and identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the delay management process. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation studies. The results show that the interaction flow is not linear, but rather forms a dynamic, situational communication network pattern. In the pre-duty phase, communication adopts a vertical wheel pattern. When a delay occurs, the pattern evolves into a hybrid one, combining the vertical wheel pattern through a WhatsApp group for leadership instructions and an all-channel pattern for cross-unit coordination. In hard complaint situations, the pattern shifts to more personalized, two-way face-to-face communication. Key supporting factors include the accessibility of the WhatsApp group and supportive leadership, while key barriers include environmental noise, signal constraints, and information overload. In conclusion, the dynamics of crisis management in the field are greatly influenced by the flexibility of the application of DeVito's adaptive communication network structure/pattern, thus minimizing formal bureaucratic tensions and accelerating coordination during a crisis.
