Abstract

The tradition of visiting graves is a form of religious expression that has developed in various Muslim communities, especially in Indonesia. One of the tombs that has sacred meaning is Habib Abdullah Al-Haddad Sangeng in Bangil which is very deep. Apart from being a final resting place, this tomb also has symbolic meaning as a meeting point between Islamic values brought from Hadramaut and local culture in Indonesia. This research aims to understand how this tradition was formed, the values contained in it, and the role of sacred graves in the socio-religious dynamics of the local community. The research method used is a historical-cultural approach by examining various historical sources, interviews with community leaders, and direct observation at the grave site. The research results show that the grave of Habib Abdullah Bin Ali Al-Haddad has become a pilgrimage center for Muslim communities, not only from Bangil but also from various other regions in Indonesia. Belief in the blessings (barakah) of this tomb is one of the main factors that encourages people to make pilgrimages, perform prayers, and participate in various rituals that have been going on for generations. Apart from the religious aspect, this tradition also has social and cultural dimensions that strengthen community ties, both through religious, economic activities and social interactions that occur during pilgrimage processions. Thus, pilgrimage to sacred graves not only functions as a practice of worship but also as a means of preserving Islamic cultural heritage in the archipelago. This research provides new insight into the importance of sacred graves in shaping the religious and social identity of Muslim communities in Indonesia.

The development of Islam during the periods of the Ottoman Empire, Mughal Sultanate, and Safavid Dynasty reflects the diversity and complexity of religious, political, and cultural influences that shaped Islamic civilization. The purpose of this study is to analyze how these three empires interacted, adapted, and contributed to the growth of Islam and related cultures. This research uses a qualitative method through reviewing various historical sources and scholarly literature. The findings indicate that the Ottoman Empire was a major protector and promoter of Sunni Islam, with policies promoting cultural and scientific advancements; the Mughal Sultanate emphasized religious tolerance and produced remarkable arts and architecture, strengthening India’s cultural landscape; while the Safavid Dynasty established Shia Islam as the state religion and made significant contributions in arts and religious thought. These empires not only engaged in conflicts and diplomatic relations but also exchanged cultural and religious ideas, which enriched Islamic civilization. Abstract

Indonesia’s rich culinary diversity reflects the culture and creativity of its society; however, the emergence of food trends like seblak illustrates changing consumer preferences, especially among youth and Muslim women. The rapid growth of seblak stalls across regions and its popularity for spicy, halal flavors make it an intriguing phenomenon to study from a consumer behavior perspective. This research aims to understand the reasons why Muslim women in Surabaya choose seblak using a quantitative approach and semi-structured interviews. The findings show that the main factors are the delicious and spicy taste, affordable price, easy accessibility, and guaranteed halal status. Respondents also mention that seblak is chosen because it is easy to find nearby and is supported by social media trends. Despite awareness of potential negative health effects from over-consumption, most still see seblak as a practical and enjoyable snack. This study contributes to understanding the behavioral factors of Muslim consumers and enriches the discourse on Indonesia’s culinary heritage as a cultural identity.

Abstract

Incorporating spiritual values into Islamic education is considered essential for creating a more humane, just, and character-building system. This research aims to examine the concept of Syafaat (Intercession) from an Islamic educational perspective by analyzing the kitab Nurul Mubin. The book is a classical work that elaborates on the meaning and forms of intercession within religious and social contexts. A qualitative approach with a literature review method is used to explore the ideas contained in the text, especially those related to the values of intercession as expressions of compassion, help, and second chances. The findings indicate that intercession is not only relevant in eschatological (akhirat) contexts but also has significant implications in the world of education, such as the important role of teachers as academic intercessors, the application of empathy in student development, and providing opportunities for correction for students who experience learning setbacks. Therefore, the concept of Syafaat (Intercession) can be used as a humanistic approach within the Islamic education system, emphasizing justice, compassion, and character development. This research is expected to inspire the development of an Islamic educational system that incorporates spiritual values and justice.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) values in the moral development of grade X students at SMA 30 Juz Al Qur’an Serang Banten to overcome moral degradation among students. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques, participatory observation, and documentation, the data were analyzed following the Miles and Huberman model. The results show the implementation of Islamic value-based character education requires a holistic approach through the integration of Curriculum 2013 with Core Competencies (KI) 1 and KI 2. Five methods of value cultivation proved effective: contextual role modeling, value-based project-based learning, integrated spiritual habituation, experience-based reflective dialogue, and individualized spiritual counseling. These methods follow the stages of value internalization from knowing, feeling, to acting. The successful cultivation of PAI values requires tripartite collaboration between school, family, and community, with the role of teachers as role models according to the principle of “ing ngarso sung tulodo”. The research confirmed significant changes in student behavior in consistency of worship, honesty, discipline, and social care. Effective Islamic religious education is not only transferring cognitive knowledge, but forming character through the appreciation and practice of noble Islamic values.

Abstract

Digital technology in the banking sector continues to develop, marked by the presence of services such as Byond by BSI. Hasyim Asy'ari University has collaborated with Bank Syariah Indonesia in paying UKT through virtual accounts. However, most students have not used the Byond by BSI application as their main means of payment. This study aims to explore the impact of subjective norms and risks on students' interest in using the Byond by BSI application, with an understanding of the mashlahah principle as a mediating factor. The research method applied uses a quantitative approach through a survey of 102 active UNHASY students from the 2021–2024 intake, who were selected using the purposive sampling method. Data were obtained through questionnaires and analyzed using outer and inner model testing with PLS 3 software. The results showed that subjective norms and knowledge of the mashlahah principle influenced the interest in using Byond by BSI, while risk did not have a direct effect. However, knowledge of the mashlahah principle was proven to mediate the influence of subjective norms and risks on interest in use. These findings indicate that understanding the mashlahah principle can strengthen social influence and reduce the impact of risk, thereby increasing the use of Byond by BSI.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of globalization, marked by digitalization and individualistic ideologies, has presented significant challenges to the relevance and philosophy of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in Indonesia. Many previous studies have not holistically integrated curriculum reform, digital engagement, and spiritual foundations within a coherent Islamic educational philosophy. This study aims to address that gap by proposing a transformative model grounded in the philosophy of ta'dīb and critical pedagogy. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach based on literature review, this research analyzes how formal Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia are adapting to the pressures of globalization and modernity. The findings reveal that globalization has led to a disconnection between traditional pedagogical approaches and students' lived experiences, as well as lagging curriculum standards. However, promising transformations are occurring through curricular reform, pedagogical innovation, and spiritual revitalization. This study contributes to the theoretical discourse by emphasizing that IRE must not only adapt to modern demands but also lead moral and intellectual renewal through spiritually anchored transformation.
