Abstract

Curriculum is the core of the educational process, yet in practice, its structural components often operate in isolation from their overarching goals. While the curriculum drives the educational process, its practical application often suffers from a disconnect between individual components and overarching objectives. This study explores the vital function of educational goals in directing and grounding core curricular elements. Through qualitative literature-based research, data were extracted from both foundational and contemporary curriculum theories, journals, and relevant texts, followed by systematic reduction, conceptual analysis, and integration. The analysis reveals that educational goals are pivotal mechanisms not just paperwork that harmonize content choice, teaching strategies, and assessment models into a unified framework. Vaguely defined goals inevitably weaken the functionality of these dependent elements. Ultimately, this research underscores the need for educators and curriculum architects to use educational goals as a strict blueprint to bridge the divide between theoretical philosophy and classroom execution.

Abstract

This study aims to critically examine the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teaching materials on the topic of "The History of the Emergence of the Abbasid Caliphate" within the Islamic Cultural History (SKI) course for Class XI at MAN 1 Kota Sukabumi. This comprehensive analysis evaluates key educational elements: learning objectives, instructional materials, methods, media, and evaluation instruments. Employing a descriptive qualitative research design, data were collected through observation, unstructured interviews, and systematic documentation. Data analysis was executed using content analysis, covering data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, validated through source and technique triangulation. The research findings reveal a severe methodological disconnection in the existing teaching materials: (1) learning objectives are heavily dominated by low-level cognitive domains (LOTS); (2) the material structure lacks a clear demarcation between facts, concepts, and principles; (3) critical thinking methods are absent from authentic problem-solving situations; (4) planned media remain overly generic, relying on non-credible internet resources (ilmuguru.org); and (5) evaluation instruments suffer from cognitive reductionism due to the absence of specific grids, indicators, and scoring rubrics. In conclusion, a total instructional reconstruction is urgent to achieve constructive alignment. This is proposed through the integration of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model, the utilization of specific visual-spasial media (geographical maps of underground movements and genealogical charts), and the implementation of authentic assessments oriented toward Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).

Abstract

Song lyrics often serve as a medium for expressing the psychological experiences and emotions of their creators. One example is Langit Malam, a song written by Chou Senka that reflects various personal emotional experiences. This study aims to identify the representation of the songwriter’s psychological condition, analyze the dynamics of the id, ego, and superego, and explain the form of catharsis reflected in the lyrics of Langit Malam. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method using Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic approach. The primary data consisted of the song lyrics, while supporting data were obtained through interviews with the songwriter. Data were analyzed through collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the lyrics represent psychological conditions such as anxiety about the future, psychological pressure, loneliness, and overthinking tendencies. The psychoanalytic analysis shows interactions among the id, ego, and superego in shaping responses to personal experiences. The id is reflected in the desire to escape pressure and seek comfort, the ego in efforts to confront reality, and the superego in awareness of responsibilities and life demands. The study also finds that the songwriting process functions as a means of channeling emotional experiences. Thus, Langit Malam can be understood as a form of catharsis that allows emotional release through artistic creation. These findings show that song lyrics can be a medium for understanding the relationship between psychological experience and the creative process.

Abstract

Writing is an important skill for university students who study English as a Foreign Language (EFL), but it is often difficult to master in academic contexts due to linguistic and cognitive challenges. Recently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, for example like ChatGPT, have gained significant popularity in language learning and academic writing support. Through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), this study analyses existing research related to the impacts of ChatGPT on writing skills of university students in the EFL context. Using the PRISMA guidelines, the study reviews eleven relevant articles published between 2023–2026 from various academic databases. The results examined that ChatGPT helps students improve different aspects of writing, such as organization, grammar accuracy, vocabulary use, coherence, and overall writing quality. It also increases students’ motivation, confidence, and ability to learn independently by providing quick, accessible, and personalized feedback during the writing process. However, the results also examined several challenges of using ChatGPT as a writing tool, such as academic dishonesty, inaccurate or misleading information, and students’ overreliance on AI tools, which may reduce critical thinking and writing autonomy.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the dialectical relationship between education and power throughout the history of civilizations, and to explain the strategic role of education as an agent of social transformation. This research employs a literature study method (library research) by examining various academic literatures, books, and relevant scientific journals. The findings indicate that in ancient civilizations, education was elitist and designed to maintain existing power hierarchies. In Islamic civilization, education played a dual role: as a center for scientific advancement supported by rulers, and simultaneously as a tool for political legitimation. During the colonial era, education functioned as a mechanism for social control, yet paradoxically fostered nationalist consciousness among the oppressed. In the modern era, education has become a crucial state policy instrument, while simultaneously possessing the potential to critically challenge oppressive power structures. In conclusion, education inherently possesses a dual function as both a tool for power reproduction and a vehicle for social change. Therefore, educational management must be conducted inclusively, fairly, and democratically to truly empower society and build a more just and advanced civilization.

Abstract

The requirements of the Merdeka Curriculum mandate that assessments have cognitive level alignment and distribution that are consistent with Learning Outcomes (CP) and Learning Objectives (TP). This study aims to analyze the distribution of cognitive levels and their alignment with reconstruction indicators in the objective items of the End-of-Semester Summative Assessment (PSAS) for 10th-grade Indonesian Language. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using content analysis. The data consisted of 45 PSAS items for 10th-grade Indonesian Language, developed by the Cilacap Regency Indonesian Language Teachers’ Working Group (MGMP), and collected through documentation. The analysis was conducted by classifying the test items based on the cognitive levels of the Bloom’s Taxonomy Revised by Anderson and Krathwohl and examining their alignment with the reconstruction indicators. The validity of the data was strengthened through expert judgment by two high school Indonesian language teachers. The results of the study indicate that all test items align with the established reconstruction indicators. However, the distribution of cognitive levels did not yet show a balanced proportion. The questions were dominated by the comprehension level (C2) at 42.2%, followed by recall (C1) at 28.9% and application (C3) at 22.2%. The analysis level (C4) reached only 6.7%, while the evaluation (C5) and creation (C6) levels were not found. These findings highlight the need to develop more balanced assessments to support the attainment of higher-order thinking skills in line with the requirements of the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

The digital era has introduced significant challenges in the form of educational degradation, where cognitive achievements are often prioritized over the internalization of moral-spiritual values. In Indonesia, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) face serious constraints, with digital readiness levels as low as 16.4% and a curriculum dominated by classical text memorization, leading to insufficient critical thinking skills (6.2%). This study aims to construct a Holistic-Experiential learning model by integrating the Tajribi method and the Ngaji Rasa program as a strategic solution within the pesantren ecosystem. The research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, utilizing content and thematic analysis for data interpretation. The findings reveal that the Tajribi method serves as a methodological foundation for experiential learning, while Ngaji Rasa acts as an affective manifestation implemented through a hidden curriculum. The construction of this model is epistemologically rooted in QS. Ash-Shaff: 2–3, which integrates ’ilm (knowledge), amal (action), and niyyah (intention). The novelty of this research lies in the inclusion of the spiritual dimension as a fourth pillar, transcending Bloom's taxonomy by forming a learning tetragonal that encompasses cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and spiritual domains. In conclusion, the integration of Tajribi and Ngaji Rasa transforms the pesantren into a "character laboratory" capable of bridging classical traditions with modernization demands without losing its spiritual identity.

Abstract

Al-Baqarah verse 178 regulates the legal mechanism of qishas as the maximum sanction for the criminal act of murder, while simultaneously opening space for forgiveness through the mechanisms of 'afwu and diyat. This verse is often understood partially and retributively, creating a negative impression of the Qur'an as merely emphasizing vengeance. This article re-examines the verse using a contextual tafsir approach to reconstruct an understanding of qishas that is not only retributive in dimension, but also restorative and humanistic. Employing the contextual tafsir method and the maqashid al-syari'ah approach, particularly hifz al-nafs as the primary objective of sharia, this study analyzes the semantic structure and asbab al-nuzul of the verse. The findings indicate that the phrase "fa man 'ufiya lahu min akhihi syai'un" emphatically affirms the Qur'an's priority on the preservation of life and social reconciliation over the execution of qishas. The term "akhihi" underscores fraternal relations as the basis for forgiveness. In the context of post-2023 Indonesia, following the enactment of the new Criminal Code that explicitly accommodates restorative justice, this verse offers a strong normative-theological foundation. Qishas is positioned as the maximum limit and ultimum remedium, while 'afwu and diyat become the main objectives for realizing justice that restores victim-perpetrator relations. Thus, the contextual interpretation of QS. Al-Baqarah: 178 is academically and practically relevant for supporting the implementation of restorative justice in Indonesia's criminal justice system without neglecting divine values.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of interreligious dialogue throughout history, both in the global sphere and within the Indonesian context. Interfaith dialogue is regarded as an essential means of fostering harmony, preventing conflict, and strengthening cross-faith understanding. The research traces the development of dialogue from the Second Vatican Council, the efforts of the Anglican Church, initiatives by international Islamic organizations, to Indonesia’s own experiences, which have been marked by interreligious tensions, particularly during the New Order era and the Maluku conflicts. The findings indicate that interreligious dialogue takes place not only at the theological level but also in everyday life, social action, ethical engagement, and even within intra-faith contexts. Supporting factors include openness, commitment, and social concern, while obstacles encompass identity politics, discrimination, and issues of religious propagation. This study affirms that interreligious dialogue is not merely an ultimate goal but an essential religious way of life for the realization of genuine harmony and social justice in multicultural societies.
