Abstract

Proficiency in mathematical problem solving is essential for students to navigate through the various stages and arrive at the desired solution in mathematics. Nevertheless, during the 2023/2024 academic year, pupils in class VIII at SMP Negeri 43 Padang continue to exhibit little proficiency in solving mathematical issues. The test result data indicates this. We are intrigued by the prospect of implementing Problem Based Learning (PBL) as an instructional framework. In order to improve students' problem solving skills in mathematics, a study was conducted comparing the PBL model with conventional direct learning. This study used the Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group design. Sampling was done randomly in this study. Students of class VIII.2 became the control group, while students of class VIII.1 became the experimental group. The absence of a P-value greater than the significance level α = 0.05 led to the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0).Keywords – Mathematical problem solving ability, PBL, direct learning

Abstract

Abstract - The purpose of this study was to create a valid, useful, and efficient e-module on straight line equations with nuanced learning styles for junior high school students in class VIII. This research is development research with the Plomp model which consists of 3 stages, namely preliminary research, development or prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The e-module based on learning styles was considered valid according to validation from five validators with a score of 84.81%. The practicality results received a score of 85,42% from students in the practical category and 90,83% from educators in the very practical category. As demonstrated by the rise in students' test results at every meeting throughout the small group assessment phase, e-modules are beneficial in enhancing problem solving skills. As a result, the constructed e-module with nuanced learning methods in the straight line equation content is reliable, useful, and capable of enhancing students' problem-solving skills.Keywords– E-Module, Mathematical Problem Solving,Nuanced Learning Styles

Abstract

One of the most important aspects of mastering mathematics is developing problem-solving skills. It would appear from initial observations that students are struggling to solve tasks requiring them to use signals. The purpose of this study is to analyse how SMAN 6 Pariaman's instructional use of the CPS paradigm affected student achievement. Four indicators are used to evaluate this model. These four measures are used to test the mathematical problem-solving ability of students in class XI of SMAN 6 Pariaman. Exam results show that students struggle to become proficient problem solvers, which leads us to this conclusion. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a control group that only participated in the post-test. Participants were pupils enrolled in the 2024–2025 school year from class XI at SMAN 6 Pariaman. Classes XI F 3 and XI F 1 served as the experimental and control groups, respectively. A test with essay questions is used for evaluation. A t-test data analysis produced a 0.002 P-value. As a result, we can say that H0 is not true. As a result, as compared to more conventional approaches to learning mathematics, the CPS model used in SMAN 6 Pariaman, class XI, yields better results.Keywords– Mathematical problem solving abilities, creative problem solving models and                    quasi experiment

Abstract

Mathematics problem solving ability is one of the important abilities that students have in learning mathematics. However, students of class X MIPA SMA Negeri 3 Payakumbuh still lack this ability. The solution provided is to apply the Discovery Learning with the help of a learning video. This study aims to see the difference in mathematical problem solving skills of students who use Discovery Learning with conventional learning. The type of research used is quasi experiment with Randomized (DL) Control-Group Only Design. The population is X MIPA class students of SMA Negeri 3 Payakumbuh. Class XMIPA-3 and class XMIPA-5 as the sample class. Finally test in the form of an essay as an instrument. After the t-test was conducted, P-vaue=0.009 was obtained. Because the P-value <0.05 consequently reject . Therefore, it’s concluded that the level of mathematics problem solving ability of students using Discovery Learning assisted by learning videos is higher than using conventional.

Abstract

Finding out how well kids learn mathematics using the Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) Cooperative Learning Model is the main goal of this project. It will also find out whether the TSTS Model or the Conventional Learning Model is better at improving students' understanding of mathematics. In the even semester of 2023–2024, a total of 244 fifth graders from SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang were included in the study. Students in MIPA 3 and 4 from grade XI took part in the research. Participants were chosen by a straightforward random selection procedure. In this investigation, a separate posttest was administered to the control group. Mathematical tests were used to gauge competence in the research. The data from a test measuring understanding of a mathematical concept did not follow a normal distribution, thus the Mann Whitney test was used to examine the results. The TSTS has been found to enhance mathematical understanding, according to the results from the quizzes. Using a significance level of 0.05, the determined P-value from hypothesis testing was 0.000, which means that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. According to the results, TSTS students outperformed their Conventional Model counterparts in terms of conceptual comprehension of mathematical subjects. Students' understanding of mathematical ideas can be enhanced through the use of TSTS cooperative learning approaches.Keywords – Conventional Learning Model, Mathematics Conceptual Understanding, TSTS Model

Abstract

The final results of students' mathematics learning can be observed in their learning results. Even so, the learning outcomes of class XI students at SMA N 5 Pariaman are still relatively low. The application of the problem posing model is a strategy to try to improve student learning outcomes. The aim of the research is to identify and characterize whether the learning outcomes obtained from the Problem Posing Learning Model are superior to the learning outcomes obtained from the Direct Learning Model. The type of research used was quasi-experimental with a Randomized Control Group Only Design. The research population was class XI students at SMAN 5 Pariaman for the 2023/2024 academic year. Samples were obtained using a random sampling approach. The experimental group is in class XI.F1 and the control class is in class XI.F3. The final test serves as the tool. T-test analysis was performed on the data. The learning outcomes using the problem posing model at SMAN 5 Pariaman are more effective than the learning outcomes using the direct learning model,, according to the analysis of the final exam results, which yielded a P-Value> 0.05 for the hypothesis test.Keywords – Problem posing Learning Model, Learning Outcomes

Abstract

A person can't build more talents on top of a solid grasp of mathematical ideas. Students can't hope to solve mathematics word problems or any other real-world difficulty without first mastering the underlying ideas. In reality, eighth graders at SMP Negeri 25 Padang continue to have below-average academic performance. To overcome this obstacle, we will utilize the Discovery Learning method. The Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design is a quasi-experimental research strategy that was utilized in this study. The Simple Random Sampling method was employed to carry out the sampling. The final evaluation in the form of narrative-based problems is the research instrument utilized. The t-test data analysis yielded a p-value of 0.10, which is lower than the 0.05 criterion of significance. This proves that H0, the null hypothesis, is not true. Abstract

Grade VIII students at SMPN 11 Padang have low learning outcomes, which should be an indicator of students' understanding of the subject matter and one of the indicators of student success in mathematics. Comparing conventional methods with the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative model was the main driver for this study. The entire eighth grade at SMP Negeri 11 Padang participated in the study, which used a posttest-only control group design and quasi-experimental methodology. This tool served as the final evaluation. The results of the study led to the conclusion that H0 could not be accepted, as the P-value = 0.000, < α. Abstract

An important skill in mastering mathematics is the ability to solve mathematical problems. Grade XI students at SMK Negeri 1 Batipuh still have this ability, although in a poor form. The application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model can be used as a way to improve it. The purpose of this study was to characterise the growth of learners' problem-solving skills in mathematics as they progress through PBL and conventional models. A quasi-experiment with nonequivalent posttest-only control group is the core of this study. The sample was class XI TITL 1 and XI TKR 1 at SMK Negeri 1 Batipuh in FY 2024/2025 by simple randomisation. The evaluation tools used were quizzes and final tests. Grade XI students at SMK Negeri 1 Batipuh outperformed their peers in the conventional learning model when using the PBL methodology. In addition, compared to the average quiz results at each meeting, individuals using PBL experienced significant improvement.Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Problem Based Learning, Conventional Model Learning

Abstract

Students of class XI SMAN 2 Padang FY 2023-2024 will be the subjects in this study, which aims to compare the effectiveness of direct learning effect on problem solving ability and PBL model. The research design used in the study is a quasi-experimental design. By using Simple Random Sampling, the sample class was selected.
