Abstract

This study aims to analyze the efficiency and value-added of the ‘Cha-Cha’ fish milling microenterprise in Bengkulu City. The research employs a quantitative approach, assessing business efficiency through the R/C Ratio calculation and value-added analysis using the Hayami method. The findings indicate that the ‘Cha-Cha’ fish milling microenterprise has an R/C Ratio of 1.4, signifying that the business is both efficient and profitable. The value-added analysis reveals variations in the value-added ratio across different fish types, with gabus laut fish exhibiting the highest ratio (55%), followed by parang-parang fish (49%), gleberan fish (45%), and tenggiri fish (29%). The ‘Cha-Cha’ fish milling microenterprise demonstrates a high level of efficiency and the ability to generate significant value-added, particularly for gabus laut fish-based products.

Abstract

Poverty is not only seen from the inability in economic terms, but also the inability to fulfill education, health, and living standards. This study aims to determine the poverty status of households of smallholder oil palm harvest laborers in Air Rami Subdistrict, Mukomuko District, as well as the factors that influence multidimensional poverty. The research method used a quantitative approach with logistic regression analysis. The results showed that 30% of smallholder oil palm harvest laborer households were categorized as multidimensionally poor, with key indicators such as cooking fuel, years of schooling, and poor nutrition. Factors such as number of working days and health have a significant influence on multidimensional poverty, while variables such as land size, age, family dependents, alternative employment, and work experience are not significant. This study concludes that the multidimensional poverty of harvest labor households in Air Rami Sub-district is complex and multidimensional, not only related to income but also lack of access to basic needs.

Abstract

Lemon peel has various benefits and can be processed into higher-value products such as vinegar. Generally, vinegar is an acidic compound composed of acetic acid produced through a two-stage fermentation process. However, in this study, an innovation was introduced to convert acetic acid into lactic acid using Lactobacillus plantarum as the fermenting agent and sugar as the nutrient source. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of varying concentrations of L. plantarum and sugar on the chemical, physical, microbiological, and organoleptic characteristics of lemon peel vinegar. This study employed a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) consisting of two factors: L. plantarum concentration (5%, 10%, 15%) and sugar concentration (15%, 10%, 5%). The results showed that the concentration ratio of L. plantarum and sugar significantly affected several characteristics of the lemon peel vinegar product. The best treatment was found in treatment A3, which used 15% L. plantarum and 5% sugar, with the following characteristics: moisture content of 93.43%, vitamin C content of 41.61 mg/100g, total titratable acidity (TTA) of 0.97%, pH of 2.76, viscosity of 3.72 cP, total plate count (TPC) of 13.75×10⁷ CFU/ml, and organoleptic test scores of 2.66 for color preference, 2.74 for aroma, 2.53 for taste, and 2.68 for texture.

Abstract

Ginger (Zingiber officinale Rosc.) can be optimized as a raw material for making kombucha because it contains many active compounds that are beneficial for health. Making kombucha is done with the help of Scoby which requires sugar media as a growth substrate. This study aims to determine the optimal conditions for making ginger kombucha. This study uses the surface response method with central composite design (CCD), the observed variables are sugar concentration and ginger concentration, with a total acid response. The results of the study on the optimum proportion have a desirability value of 0.845 at a sugar concentration of 10% and a ginger concentration of 75% with a total acid response of 0.582±0.012%. From the results of the optimum proportion, characterization was also carried out on antioxidant activity of 182.71 mg TE, vitamin C content of 0.02%, total sugar 0.76%, color, Total Dissolved Solids, pH, and organoleptic tests.

Abstract

Pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.) is a relatively short-lived agricultural crop that can be harvested in a short time. This study aims to find the concentration of pineapple peel POC nutrition and 50% NPK to replace the role of 100% NPK fertilizer and support the growth and yield of pakcoy plants. The research method used a Randomized Group Design with 4 treatments, namely P1: 100% inorganic fertilizer, P2: 240 mL pineapple peel POC/ 1 L of water + 50% NPK, P3: 260 mL pineapple peel POC/ 1 L of water + 50% NPK, P4: 280 mL pineapple peel POC/ 1 L of water + 50% NPK, six replication. Parameters observed were the number of leaves, leaf width, leaf length, fresh weight, crown weight, root weight, and root length. Based on the results of the study, significant results were obtained in the observation parameter of leaf length (cm), fresh weight (g), root length (cm), while those that were not significant were in the observation parameters of the number of leaves (strands). Leaf width (cm), crown weight (g), root weight (g). From the results of the study, it was found that 260 ml of pineapple peel POC / 1 liter of water + 50% NPK was the best treatment level and could replace the role of 100% NPK. Based on this research, it is recommendded for pakcoy cultivation using nutrition 260 mL pineapple peel POC / 1 L of water + 50% NPK can increase plant growth and production as well as environmentally friendly.

Abstract

Pengaruh Fungi Mikoriza Arbuskula (FMA) dan Zat Pengatur Tumbuh (ZPT) Akar Terhadap Pertumbuhan Vegetatif Bibit Tanaman Jarak Pagar (Jatropha curcas L.) Asal Stek Batang. Percobaan yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh interaksi Fungi Mikoriza Arbuskula (FMA) dengan Zat Pengatur Tumbuh (ZPT) akar terhadap pertumbuhan jarak pagar asal stek batang. Metoda percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok yang terdiri atas sembilan perlakuan dan tiga ulangan, sehingga terdapat 27 plot percobaan. Setiap perlakuan terdiri dari 5 tanaman, sehingga jumlah seluruhnya 135 tanaman. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan terjadinya pengaruh interaksi antara pemberian dosis FMA dan ZPT terhadap pertumbuhan jarak pagar. Pemberian dosis FMA 10 g/tanaman dan konsentrasi ZPT 50 mg/ml pada tanaman jarak memberikan hasil pertumbuhan yang baik.

Abstract

Ambon banana is a type of tree that has a soft stem. One of the by-products of banana trees is the stem. Banana pseudo-stems can be used as animal feed because they contain quite good nutrients and do not contain anti-nutrients. The purpose of the research was to determine the physical quality and pH of Ambon banana pseudo-stem silage given various types of starter. this research used an experimental method and completely randomized design, which used four treatments and five replications. The treatments were P1: 100% banana pseudo-stem + 10% cassava flour, P2: 100% banana pseudo-stem + 10% rice bran, P3: 100% banana pseudo-stem + 10% pollard, P4: 100% banana pseudo-stem + 10% molasses. The observation data wasthen tested by analysis of variance and Duncan further test. The variables observed consisted of physical quality carried out by 15 untrained panelists, and also pH. according to the research results, it can be concluded that different types of starters affected physical quality and pH. P3 treatment with the addition of 10% pollard gave the best results.

Abstract

This study aims to examine sellers’ perceptions of foliage ornamental plants, identify consumer preferences, and compare the two perspectives. The research was conducted along a series of ornamental plant kiosks located on Sersan Bajuri Street, Cihideung Village, Parongpong District, Indonesia. The method used was a verificative survey. The seller population consisted of 362 individuals, from which 36 respondents were selected using simple random sampling, while 96 buyer respondents were selected using systematic random sampling. The findings indicate that sellers generally perceive ideal foliage ornamental plants as having green leaves, medium plant size, high durability, moderate popularity, small plant type, affordable price, a reasonably strategic sales location, and promotional activities primarily through social media. Conversely, buyers tend to prefer foliage ornamental plants with colorful leaves, medium size, high durability, moderate popularity, medium-sized types, affordable prices, strategic sales locations with diverse options, and social media-based promotions. Statistical analysis revealed significant differences between sellers’ perceptions and buyers’ preferences, particularly in terms of leaf color and plant type. However, an overall comparison using the Mann-Whitney U test yielded a Z-score of -1.207, with a critical Z-value of 1.96 and a significance level (2-tailed) of 0.227 (p > 0.05). These results suggest that, overall, there is no statistically significant difference between sellers’ perceptions and buyers’ preferences regarding the characteristics of foliage ornamental plants.

Abstract

Penggunaan plastik sebagai kemasan bahan pangan telah banyak digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Akan tetapi plastik adalah pengemas yang kurang ramah lingkungan karena mempunyai karakter nonbiodegradable. Edible film menjadi alternatif untuk menggantikan plastik pengemas makanan karena bersifat biodegradable. Kulit singkong merupakan limbah agroindustri yang memiliki kandungan pati dan jahe merah memiliki senyawa antibakteri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik edible film berbasis pati kulit singkong dan pengaruh ekstrak jahe merah sebagai antibakteri terhadap edible film. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) non faktorial, yang melibatkan empat variasi konsentrasi pati kulit singkong (3%, 4%, 5%, dan 6%) sebagai perlakuan tunggal. Setiap perlakuan direplikasi sebanyak tiga kali untuk analisis statistik. Hasil penelitian meliputi ketebalan, kuat tarik, elongasi, mudah terurai, dan antibakteri pada perlakuan terbaik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi pati kulit singkong berpengaruh nyata terhadap ketebalan, kuat tarik, dan mudah terurai akan tetapi berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap elongasi. Konsentrasi pati kulit singkong P4 6% merupakan perlakuan terbaik.
