Abstract

Sawahan Village, Watulimo Subdistrict, Trenggalek Regency, is one of the tourist village areas developed by the local community. Several tourism programs have been established by the local tourism awareness groups, including durian forest tourism. In 2023, a chlorine diffuser technology was implemented to support the development of the tourist village, ensuring access to clean water. This appropriate technology is not only designed to produce clean water but also serves as a strategy to meet the requirements of Clean and Healthy Behavior (CHB). In 2024, community service has focused more on waste management through a waste bank. The methods employed include Focus Group Discussions (FGD) on educational tourism through waste banks, education on the separation of organic and inorganic waste, and community assistance with Clean and Healthy Behavior (CHB). The activities conducted resulted in increased community knowledge about waste banks, from 10 people (10%) to 48 people (96%). Not only did the community's knowledge improve, but their behavior also changed, with the creation of separate waste containers for organic and inorganic waste increasing from 3 people (6%) to 38 people (76%). Additionally, the community's behavior regarding clean and healthy living improved, with handwashing facilities available in every home and throughout the tourist area, reaching 50 people (100%). These changes in knowledge and behavior indicate that community service activities can only succeed with the community's willingness and ability to achieve sustainability and self-sufficiency.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Stunting remains a serious challenge for Indonesian society. The 2018 basic health research reported that the prevalence of stunting among toddlers reached 30.8%. The impact of stunting is not only on physical growth but also on cognitive development and the risk of diseases in adulthood. Community service plays a crucial role in supporting government efforts to address stunting through nutrition education, infant and child feeding practices, sanitation, hygiene, and family economic empowerment. Based on this, the involvement of higher education institutions is necessary to improve public health through an approach of interprofessional collaboration and interprofessional education designed in community service activities that focus on empowering communities through integrative assistance. This community service is carried out in 2024, located in Tambak Wedi Village, Surabaya. The activities conducted include training and assistance in the production of processed foods based on moringa leaves and fish, health education on healthy living behaviors, guidance on parenting and breastfeeding/MPASI, training for early detection of high-risk pregnancies for families, and checking hemoglobin and protein levels for pregnant women in a state of chronic energy deficiency who receive supplementary feeding based on moringa leaves and fish. At the beginning of the community service activities, the results of health and laboratory examinations were as follows: several mothers were found to have a mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) below 23.5 cm, which may indicate a risk of chronic energy deficiency (CED). Pregnant women were still found with hemoglobin levels below 11 g/dL, indicating anemia during pregnancy. Additionally, protein levels in pregnant women were found to be 6.2 g/dL, and there was one stunted child and seven children in a pre-stunting condition. Following up on the results of the initial health examination, interventions were carried out for pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency and toddlers at risk of stunting by providing snacks made from moringa and fish for two weeks. The Surabaya Hebat cadres also received a refresher on early detection screening for high-risk pregnant women INDEX TERMS Stunting, Moringa leaves and fish, Tambak Wedi

The purpose of this service activity is to empower the village community in optimizing yard land to prevent stunting and increase food security. This service activity was carried out with a participatory approach for seven months, through training, coaching, and field practicum. This activity involved students from the Department of Midwifery and Environmental Health to support the community in managing yard land. The results of the activity showed that as many as 50% of the target partners succeeded in using their yards so that they became a source of food, and 100% of Posyandu cadres showed increased competence in early detection of the growth and development of toddlers. In addition, there was an increase in community participation in Posyandu with an achievement of more than 90%. Active community involvement in the program is essential, with support from governments, non-governmental agencies, and local communities, contributing to the program's success. The outputs of this program include activity videos, journal publications, and IPR (copyright), which is expected to be a reference for similar programs in the future. The conclusion of this activity is that the use of yard land as an alternative food source has proven to be effective in increasing food security and preventing stunting in Gonggang Village. This program shows the importance of collaboration between various parties to achieve common goals in community empowerment.

Abstract

Health Development is a prominent program among 45 essential initiatives that must be implemented nationwide in relation to sectoral and regional development, ranking 12th among them. In Surabaya, health programs are conducted through community health centers (puskesmas). One of the services provided at the Sukodono Health Center (PKM) includes interchangeable rooms. The Sukodono Sidoarjo Health Center also features a delivery room and infant incubator equipment designed for premature infants. The use of infant incubators significantly increases the percentage of safely born babies and enhances their ability to survive hypothermia. However, the growing sophistication of medical devices raises concerns about their safety and the reliability of infant incubators, emphasizing the need for controlled parameter inspections in medical devices. Safety inspections and performance evaluations are carried out by clinical professionals. Unfortunately, maintenance activities at the community health center have not yet been addressed due to the absence of staff qualified to handle such tasks. As part of community service, maintenance activities for infant incubator equipment were conducted to ensure that the incubators are ready and suitable for use, enabling ongoing services. The results of these activities indicated that the infant incubators are in good condition and ready for use. The measurement results show that the biggest error occurred at the baby incubator temperature which was set at 35°C with an error of 0.05°C..

Abstract

The electrical safety of medical equipment is crucial to prevent hazards that endanger both healthcare workers and patients. Krembangan Health Center faces significant challenges due to staff's limited knowledge about electrical safety, including leakage current detection. The aim of this study was to enhance staff skills in ensuring electrical safety through a focused training program. The program covered the basics of electrical safety, leakage current risks, and practical use of a digital multimeter for inspections. Field surveys and practical training were conducted to inspect and measure electrical systems across the health center. Results revealed inadequate grounding, uneven load distribution, and leakage voltage up to 99 volts AC in the new building, while the old building had minor leakage issues. The conclusion emphasized the need for regular maintenance, comprehensive electrical safety audits, and ongoing staff training to ensure long-term safety. These efforts aim to create a safer healthcare environment, improving the reliability of medical equipment and safeguarding patient care.

Abstract

Early childhood is a critical phase for physical and cognitive development, making early detection of stunting vital to a child’s long-term health. Traditional methods of measuring infant growth in regions like Indonesia rely on manual data collection, leading to delays in identifying stunting. This study aims to implement a web-based system for infant weight and height measurements to assist healthcare workers in early stunting detection at Krembangan Posyandu, Surabaya. The system provides real-time monitoring, automatic z-score calculations, and data storage, enhancing efficiency and accuracy. Methodologically, the tool was tested with 16 infants, allowing cadres to input measurements directly into a web platform for analysis. Results showed the tool's ease of use, increased speed in data handling, and improved access to growth data, reducing manual errors. The findings indicated that most infants had healthy growth, though a few required further attention. In conclusion, this web-based tool significantly improves the accuracy and timeliness of stunting detection, with implications for wider adoption in regions with limited healthcare infrastructure. However, limitations include a small sample size and a lack of assessment of long-term outcomes. Future research should focus on larger populations and the tool’s integration into broader healthcare systems
