Abstract

The design of smelting and paving block molding machines made from LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) plastic waste aims to recycle plastic waste by melting it and then reprinting it into used products and is expected to be a solution in the increasing plastic waste recycling process. The design of this smelter uses a mixer system consisting of 4 blades to facilitate the melting process of plastic waste. The planning of this machine is to use a 1 HP (Horsepower) of AC (Alternating Current) electric motor with a rotation speed of 1330 RPM (Radian per Minute). The rotation of the electric motor is then reduced to 532 RPM (Radian per Minute) during the stirring process. The components in this plastic waste melting machine consist of components that are purchased and some are produced. The components that are made include a mixer or mixer, melting tube, and machine support frame. The final result of this machine is in the form of melted plastic which has been mixed with oil and then printed in a paving block mold.

Abstract

Writing for publication is the scholars’ needs. Unfortunately, the number of student publications, especially in the Applied English Study Program, Sekolah Vokasi UGM, has not shown a good trend. Thus, the study program provides a subject namely Academic Writing to help the students practice and improve their research writing skills. However, specifically-tailored course materials for the subject have not been provided. This study aims to find out the students’ needs for writing a research publication. Interviews to 20 students of Transfer Program in Applied English and 3 journal reviewers were conducted. The interview results were then analyzed based on parts of research articles, namely IMRaD (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion) to understand the important aspects to be included in each part. The findings show that students need academic writing skills in every aspect of research writing: 1) in Introduction, the research gap is essential; 2) in Methods, explaining research methods should be done rigorously; 3) in Findings/Results, effective and elaborated findings are important; 4) in Discussion, the discussion beyond confirmation and contrasting findings is needed; and 5) in Conclusion, the research implication(s) is pivotal. These are in line with statements of journal editors mentioning about the characteristics of each part of the research manuscript and the important points to be included in them. This study, therefore, can be used as reference to tailor course materials for Academic Writing course.

Abstract

The Main Partner of Customs, which was implemented in 2015, aims to reduce dwelling-time rates, decrease logistics costs, and appreciate companies with good tax compliance. On the other hand, dwelling-time figures have not shown a significant decline in numbers with all the facilities provided. This study examines the Main Partner of Customs policy regarding the cost of taxation perspective at Tanjung Priok Port. The discussion of this research focuses on the burden carried by both the policymaker and the company. This research was conducted through a quantitative approach with a post-positivist paradigm. The data collection techniques for this research are literature studies and field observation through in-depth interviews, where the research results are analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. This study indicates that the Main Partner of Customs policy becomes more efficient when considered from administrative cost. The division of authority and duties in the administrative process, simplification of policies and administration, and division of workload between the Directorate General of Customs and Excise and client coordinators at ports can reduce the administrative burden from the government side. In terms of compliance costs, the Main Partner of Customs policy is considered to reduce the burden on the company in terms of time and encourage the improvement of the company's quality in completing customs obligations. However, psychological challenges remain in the path of its implementation. According to the findings, there is a need for an alternative application for companies who wish to become the Main Customs Partner so that the process of selecting the Main Customs Partner is fair. In addition, the issue of legal certainty in this policy can be improved by adopting one-stop coordination with relevant Ministries/Agencies regarding prohibitions and restrictions on export-import activities.

Abstract

Technological developments encourage changes in consumer behavior, including corporate interactions. This also affects many educational institutions, especially in higher education levels. The use of multiple channels has been increasing, and it is quite a complex challenge for higher education to provide seamless and optimal journey experiences as needed by their audiences. These developments in technology and consumer behavior drive all higher education institutions to increase their competitive advantages. The omnichannel strategy is an effective way for them to increase the competitive advantage and to reach prospective students through various platforms, with specific and personified messages. In its application, omnichannel marketing strategy is often connected to Integrated Marketing Communication Concept (IMC). Hence, the channel tools utilized in omnichannel marketing strategy are platforms intersecting with the IMC communication tools. Both study and application of omnichannel marketing in the business world have frequently appeared and developed. However, study and application of omnichannel marketing in the higher education sector, especially Indonesia, are still very limited. This descriptive study aims to describe the application of omnichannel marketing in higher education contexts, by using a descriptive methodology through literature review (range 2010 – 2020). According to the study results, the application of omnichannel marketing, as a marketing communication strategy, is able to build connections and engagement with target audiences, and also to become competitive advantages for higher education institutions in this current digital technology era. Through this study, it is desired to provide an overview and insight regarding the implementation of omnichannel marketing strategies particularly in higher education institutions.

Abstract

Peripheral nerve injuries mostly occur in the upper extremities with the most common cause being trauma. An alternative to nerve repair in proximal injury is restoration of function via nerve transfer. The rehabilitation process is needed to relearn the movement so that the results of the nerve transfer can function properly. The purpose of this study was to provide an overview of the post-nerve transfer rehabilitation process in the upper extremity and its benefits in maintaining and improving the quality of movement in the upper extremity. This research is a literature review with secondary data sources in the form of scientific journals accessed through journal databases, such as: PubMed Central (PMC) NCBI and google scholar. Based on the study conducted, it is recommended that three stages in rehabilitation after nerve transfer in the upper extremities are recommended, namely: 1. Early phase: immobilization and education procedures are carried out for patients related to the surgical procedure and the rehabilitation stages to be followed, 2. Middle phase: conducting a re-innervation of neural pathways and motor re- learning with various modalities or approaches, such as: induction exercise, cross over training, graded motor imagery, electrical stimulation, surface electromyography, and aquatic therapy, 3. Late phase: all exercise in the middle phase is continuing and added with an approach in the form of muscle strength and endurance training that takes attention to the biomechanical aspect. Post nerve transfer rehabilitation is useful in maintaining and improving the quality of upper extremity movement and it is recommended that its application be adjusted to the rehabilitation phase.

Abstract

Bronchiectasis is a chronic disorder characterized by irreversible bronchial dilatation accompanied by an inflammatory process in the walls of the bronchi and the surrounding lung parenchyma. Bronchiectasis can be caused by infection with the bacterium Mycobacterium Tuberculosis which is the bacteria that causes pulmonary tuberculosis (pulmonary TB). The main characteristic of bronchiectasis is the accumulation of mucus, chronic bacterial infections, and persistent bronchial inflammation. The purpose of this case study was to determine the effectiveness of the Active Cycle Of Breathing Technique (ACBT) on increasing functional capacity in bronchiectasis patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. The research method used is in the form of a case report with 1 patient given physiotherapy intervention and evaluation 4 times. To overcome some of the problems that arise, namely shortness of breath, and sputum retention due to bronchiectasis after pulmonary tuberculosis in this study, physiotherapy interventions were used, namely exercise therapy in the form of ACBT. The results obtained after 4 times of therapy were a decrease in tightness as evidenced by the Borg scale from 4 to 1, and a reduction in sputum retention with the auscultation results in the form of rhonchi in the posterior apical segment of the bilateral upper lobe to rhonchi in the posterior apical segment of the right upper lobe. Based on these results, it can be concluded that physiotherapy interventions with ACBT effectives in patients with post pulmonary tuberculosis bronchiectasis.
