Abstract

This study explores cultural and structural barriers to implementing project-based curricula in private Islamic universities through a qualitative case study at Wahid Hasyim University (Semarang) and Nahdlatul Ulama Islamic University (Jepara). Data were collected from 18 key informants’ university leaders, programmed heads, and lecturers using in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and curriculum document analysis. Conservative academic culture is reflected in lecturer-centred teaching, rigid curriculum interpretation, limited interdisciplinary collaboration, and restricted student autonomy. Findings reveal uneven adoption of project-based curricula across programmed, continued dominance of lecturer-centered practices shaped by leadership commitment and institutional policies, and limited readiness of lecturers and students for collaborative learning. Structural constraints, including assessment systems and workload regulations, further impede innovation and student participation. The study concludes that curriculum reform must be accompanied by transformation in academic culture and governance. It recommends capacity-building initiatives, policy alignment, and participatory academic practices to ensure sustainable implementation of project-based curricula in private Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the roles of agility, speed, and concentration in football and futsal dribbling skills through an integrated perspective. A narrative literature review was conducted on 15 national and international studies published between 2018 and 2025, including correlational, experimental, and pre–post intervention designs, with thematic synthesis applied to identify patterns in the interaction between physical and cognitive factors. Findings indicate that agility, particularly change-of-direction ability and balance, is the primary determinant of dribbling performance, while speed enhances execution efficiency and concentration supports perceptual–cognitive control. Integrated training combining agility drills, acceleration exercises, and cognitive tasks in small-sided or game-like settings effectively improves dribbling ability. The study concludes that dribbling is a multidimensional skill emerging from the interaction of physical and cognitive components, and training programs should reflect this integration, while further longitudinal and well-controlled intervention studies are needed to examine the transfer of these improvements to competitive performance.

Abstract

This study aimed to conduct a needs analysis for developing a football shooting training program by profiling lower-limb explosive power, foot–eye coordination, and concentration among extracurricular football students at SMKN 1 Sijunjung. Thirty students with at least six months of regular training participated in purposive sampling. Explosive power was assessed using the Vertical Jump Test, coordination with the Foot–Eye Coordination Test, concentration with the Grid Concentration Test, and shooting ability with a standardized shooting test. Data were analyzed descriptively, using normative categorization, gap analysis, and a Need Priority Index (NPI) to identify training priorities. Results showed most students scored low across lower-limb power (63%), coordination (58%), concentration (71%), and shooting ability (68%), with the largest gaps in concentration, explosive power, and coordination. The NPI indicated a structured, progressive training approach prioritizing mental focus, neuromuscular power, and coordination before technical shooting development. These findings provide empirical guidance for targeted, evidence-based interventions in youth football training.

Abstract

Physical condition, including body mass index (BMI) and leg muscle strength, is a key factor influencing athletic performance, particularly in volleyball. This study aimed to examine the relationship between BMI and leg muscle strength with maximal oxygen uptake (VO₂ max) in volleyball athletes. A non-experimental quantitative correlational design was applied with a total sample of 30 university volleyball players. Data were collected using standardized measurements of BMI, leg muscle strength, and the multistage fitness test (MFT) to estimate VO₂ max. Normality and linearity tests were conducted before correlation analysis. Results showed an average BMI of 21.69, leg muscle strength of 70.27, and VO₂ max of 32.16. Multiple correlation analysis indicated a significant relationship between BMI and leg muscle strength with VO₂ max (Sig. F change = 0.003 < 0.05, R = 0.597, R² = 0.356). These findings suggest that optimal BMI and strong lower limb muscles jointly support aerobic capacity in volleyball athletes, providing evidence for targeted physical training programs that enhance both fitness and performance.

Abstract

The problem in this research was motivated by the low awareness of PSFC futsal athletes about the importance of maintaining fluid balance in the body so that the body is always euhydrated (good) and avoids the risk of dehydration which results in impaired concentration due to lack of fluids. This study aims to determine the effect of hydration status on concentration using a hydration protocol approach in PSFC futsal athletes in the city of Bengkalis. This type of research is an experiment with a pre-experimental research design. One group pre-test post-test research design. The instrument used to measure concentration is the Grid Concentration Test. The total population is 30 people. The sample in the study was 15 futsal athletes at general level. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling technique. Data analysis using Microsoft Excel. The results of research and analysis carried out by researchers show that the hydration protocol directly affects concentration, with a sig value of 0.000 < 0.05. With the concentration test results from 33% the euhydration status was moderate to 73% with an average of very good results.

Abstract

The scientific profiling of youth athletes in water ski and wakeboard sports remains limited, particularly in Southeast Asia, where empirical baseline data to support Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) frameworks are scarce. Although structured training programs have been implemented in Jakarta, no published research has comprehensively evaluated the multicomponent physical fitness characteristics of Indonesian youth athletes in these disciplines. Therefore, this study aimed to provide a descriptive–evaluative baseline analysis of physical condition profiles to inform long-term athlete development planning. A descriptive quantitative cross-sectional design was employed involving 24 male and female athletes (aged 13–18 years) selected through purposive sampling from Jakarta’s official 2025 long-term training cohort. A standardized multicomponent fitness battery was administered, including the Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test Level 1 (aerobic endurance), 30-second Wingate Anaerobic Test (anaerobic capacity), 1RM strength testing, Standing Broad Jump (power), Illinois Agility Test, coordination and balance assessments, and Sit-and-Reach flexibility testing. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent-sample t-tests, and one-way ANOVA with effect size calculations (p < 0.05). Results indicated moderate-to-good aerobic endurance (1,560 ± 210 m), good anaerobic peak power (10.8 ± 1.3 W·kg⁻¹), above-average muscular strength (34.5 ± 4.2 kg), good lower-limb power (205.4 ± 15.8 cm), good agility (17.2 ± 0.9 s), above-average flexibility (32.6 ± 5.1 cm), and strong balance performance (42.3 ± 8.6 s). Aerobic endurance showed the greatest variability, while anaerobic power and agility emerged as dominant characteristics. These findings establish the first integrated physical fitness baseline for Indonesian youth water ski and wakeboard athletes and provide practical guidance for individualized LTAD-based conditioning programs.

Abstract

The assessment of creativity in early childhood is important for identifying developmental potential, yet existing methods such as manual scoring of the Test for Creative Thinking–Drawing Production (TCT-DP) are time-consuming and susceptible to subjectivity. This study proposes an automated framework combining Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to support creativity assessment in children aged 5–8 years based on TCT-DP drawings. A dataset of 100 drawings, scored by expert raters, was preprocessed and decomposed using a two-level Daubechies db4 wavelet to extract spatial-frequency features. These features were used as inputs to a CNN model trained to classify creativity levels. Model performance was evaluated using accuracy, F1-score, ROC-AUC, and Pearson’s correlation with expert scores. The proposed model achieved 87% accuracy and a correlation of r = 0.74, indicating moderate agreement with expert ratings. While results suggest potential for improving efficiency and consistency, findings remain exploratory due to limited sample size.
